First things first : I loved the anime! I wish the manga satisfied my expectations. Annoying things with the manga :
* Story was rushed and not flowing.
*Some parts from anime were left out.
* The art was average/even bad.
*It was too short.

I still give it 4 stars because of the spectacular story and lovable characters. Good things about Steins gate:
*Story is awesome: time travel, time leaping and paralel universes.
*tension is high and the story is exciting. Not to mention, emotional as hell! You can feel the pain and psychological breakdowns Okabe suffers. .
*Characters are unique. We have somehow "mad scientist" Okabe Rintaro , genious scientist Makise Kurisu , perverted hacker Hashida "Daru" , sweet and kind "tutturu" Mayuri Shinaa and other cool characters. I mean, every one of them was useful and noticeable.
*The theories are insane! Mind challenging and thought provoking.
*cool humor.

I seriously recommend anime for every science fiction lover.

I have watched the anime and it is hands-down the best anime I have ever watched.
This book is no different. I LOVE Okabe and Kurisu so much I can't even express it.
This volume, the first of the trilogy is the start of a tale of brilliance, of ambition, of curiosity, of invention, of discovery but beyond all that, it is the tale of love, of sacrifice, of loss and of dealing with it.
But most of that is yet to come.
This book was just a start. It is perhaps my personal opinion (having watching the anime first), that it was just as amazing as the rest. Note, that I am in love with all the characters already. I am already in love with Okabe and his alter ego as Hououin Kyouma, Kurisu's wit and refusal to be called "assistant", Mayuri's "tu-tu-ru", Itaru's perversions; god! I can barely contain myself.
I'll conclude with just this... This manga will not disappoint you.

I'm not an anime watcher so hadn't heard of this but the premise sounded promising for me to give the manga a go and I have to say I was impressed. A realistic science-fiction tale that felt actually unique. It starts off a bit slow and jagged but things come together quickly and it then flowed nicely. The plot heats up, moving forward always, ending this volume with a tense moment. All the characters are given plenty of character development and there is an unusual selection of differing types. The text messages that alter time are cool, seeing how the small changes make an affect on the world as they know it, but I'm waiting to see if this will all come to some big crisis further down the road. Would love to read the next volume!

Los viajes en el tiempo y las múltiples líneas temporales son de mis temas favoritos para leer en cuanto a ciencia ficción se refiere; es por ello que me di a la tarea de leerme Steins;Gate, donde un grupo de jóvenes investigadores crean a partir de un microondas, una máquina del tiempo, el único detalle es que aún no saben como funciona su creación y los cambios que trae alterar el pasado cada vez que lo usan.

Cambiando pequeños detalles en el pasado parece alterar ya sea mínima o severamente en futuro. ¿Pero, como funciona la máquina del tiempo? Sincronizando el celular de Rintarou Okabe con la máquina y enviando mensajes de texto al pasado. Cuando la sincronización finaliza, todos olvidan que ha pasado y solo él parece recordar el experimento.

Los cambios en el espacio-tiempo crean paradojas, efectos mariposa y múltiples cambios en los personajes, situaciones y posibilidades. El equipo que ha conformado Rintarou está integrado por su mejor amigo Itaru, un hacker cibernetico; Kurisu, una chica genio llegada del extranjero para una conferencia y Mayuri Shiina, la ayudante y quien se encarga de las compras.

Cabe destacar que a pesar de que ellos cuatro son los miembros principales del laboratorio, pronto, otros integrantes se van uniendo. Entre mis personajes favoritos está Luka, un chico quien viste como mujer, es descrito como hermoso y amable. Luka siempre quiso ser mujer y cree haber nacido en el cuerpo equivocado, algo que me pareció tierno.

La mezcla entre comedia, drama y locuras hacen de esta historia única, versátil y divertida de leer. La relación y amistad entre los protagonistas de la historia se siente real, única y fresca. Rintarou es un protagonista como pocas veces leo, con tanta imaginación y personalidad que es agradable de leer.

Este primer volumen es muy introductorio, conocemos a los personajes, las razones por las cuales se unen al experimento y los misterios detrás de la máquina del tiempo.

I watched the Steins;Gate anime a few years ago and I loved it. It was so good! The visual novel is amazing too. I really love this story. The manga adaptation came after the anime and the visual novel.
I felt like going back to the Steins;Gate world so I decided to pick up the manga series.

I really enjoyed Volume 1, and can't wait to read more (in fact, I'm going to start reading it after I finish writing this review). I get that some people won't get it or will find it hard to get into when you aren't familiar with the story, but since I am, I didn't have that problem and just enjoyed reliving the story trough another medium. Such a fun ride!

То чувство, когда жалеешь, что зажал бабки на покупку всех томов сразу (T⌓T)

Манга по аниме, это явно чувствуется. И мне нравится, что я знаю дальнейшее развитие событий. Потому что аниме щикааарно! Рисовка, идея, персонажи! Врата Штейна стоят потраченного времени.
Я снова окунулась в мир заговоров Синдиката, вспомнила Кристину с Маюшей и.. щас буду опять реветь, потому что как не крути, жизнь изменить нельзя.

Постараюсь в скором времени докупить последние два тома и дочитать.

Now Steins;Gate. I absolutely loved both the manga & television series. I picked up on the characters' unique chemistry between one another. In my opinion I think it's the perfect combination. Okabe the 'Mad Scientist' and Kurisu the academic. They eventually got on very well in the end.

I would also like to say that I really love the scientific elements to the whole story.

If I were to recommend a book to anyone, Steins;Gate.

Un universitario que se cree científico loco, por "error" crea una maquina del tiempo, aquí es como ir descubriendo que si puede hacer, que no, que cambios ocasionan sus "mensajes al pasado", osea el inicio, a ver que tal.

Lo que si, ahí tiene un ligero detalle de traducción, si bien es cierto, la traducción que ponen en la nota es correcta, no es la adecuada, interesante en internet la primer traducción que saca google, es correcta.

Una gran adaptación de la serie o la novela, lo que prefiráis. Estoy deseando seguir con el segundo tomo. La única pega que le puedo encontrar es a algún que otro dibujo. Pero en general muy, muy bien.

I have yet to play the visual novel. It is one of my brother’s favorite and most recommended ones. We have it on PS Vita. We even ordered it from Rice Digital from the UK because they had a package that included a metal upa and lab member pins. The anime is one of my favorites and I still rewatch episodes from time to time. English SUB though. I refuse to acknowledge that English DUBS exist.

How much do I love Steins;Gate? I cosplayed it.



Yes, I have an actual upa plush. ;-) Shiina Mayuri is now my go-to cosplay character.

But that is not what this post is about. I was going through the graphic novel/comics/manga tab on Netgalley one day and I spotted this gem. I snatched it right up. It’s not a new release or anything but it’s something. Now, I don’t read many manga; I’m more of an anime person. But I do read them from time to time, my favorite being Mars by Furumi Soryo. Since I already love Steins;Gate, what’s there not to love with this?

Well… a couple of things. Remember I mentioned above that I dislike the English dubbing of the anime? Eh, that “bias” kind of carries over to the manga. First of all, Mayuri’s signature greeting is not “toodle-loo” or some crap like that. It’s “tuturuu~” – definitely cuter. Whenever I read “toodle-loo”, I hear the English dub in my head. Now, this might be just nitpicking to some of you but really, it bothered me. As a Mayuri cosplayer, I require that people get things right about my character.

I know that the manga was released first but it was still based on the visual novel. Then the anime came out after all that. Please forgive me if I take most of my comparisons from the anime… that’s what I know.

I liked the art of this manga. Mayuri is still cute as a button, Okabe is still crazy, even Makise’s tsundere tendencies aren’t to be missed. To those not familiar with Steins;Gate, this can get confusing. I’m so familiar with the anime and I still got a bit confused. Some jokes just sound… different… in English. Didn’t work as well. With a story like this, a visual – moving – storytelling is more effective.

I don’t know. Maybe it is disadvantageous that I’m a huge fan of the anime before digging into this manga. With that, I brought high expectations that were not met. I’ll just stick to the anime. With the 2nd game awaiting English localization, I should go ahead and play the visual novel soon.

I had previously watched the Anime and read the original visual novel and I wanted to see more content about Steins;Gate, a science fiction story about a group of friends that discover a way to send messages into the past and the consequences of it caused due to the butterfly effect. I personally enjoyed the manga as it was mostly faithful to the original work maintaining the amazing plot which deals with sacrifice and the physiological strain endured throughout it that even spawned an alternate ending in Steins;Gate 0. Although it left out various parts of the original source and the storyline felt even more rushed in this adaptation compared to the source and even the first adaptation which also left out some parts of the original source. I would recommend the book but only after they would have read the original source or watched the anime adaptation.

Releído. No soy de mirar mucho anime pero este es mí favorito, y para revivir la experiencia opte por los mangas. Tanto la primera como la segunda vez que lo leí me resultaron un poco decepcionantes ya que pienso que está mucho mejor construida la narrativa en el anime que en el manga. A ver, se que esto salió antes de que inclusive salga el juego, y supongo que los del anime se pudieron tomar la licencia de pensar como utilizar otro estilo cronológico para contar los hecho de una manera más dinámica, a su vez de explotar todos los recursos audiovisuales, generando una narración única. Sin embargo, voy a continuar leyendo los otros tomos para ver si la complejidad de la historia se logra ver plasmada.

Cuando fue a la librería y pregunté por mangas de ciencia ficción y me dieron este, obvio lo compré para probar.
Hay algo que me gusta de los dibujos de mangas, las expresiones faciales que se representan, me entretiene ver cómo aparecen nuevas expresiones y gestos.
En cuanto a la historia, si te gustó volver al futuro quizás también te guste este manga. Básicamente es la historia de como un científico en la universidad encuentran un modo de 'viajar en el tiempo' a través de mensajes de texto.
Me parece interesante como agregan este elemento, ya que siempre que se habla de viajes del tiempo se habla de naves o delorians 😂, pero no sé habla de mandar mensajes a través del tiempo, enviar información. Me pareció buena innovación con respecto al tema.
Fue entretenido, sencillo de leer y con todas las explicaciones que precisa el tema.

(FYI I read the Omnibus so I don't know where the story stops in each volume and I don't want to go check haha but I think I have an idea)I will give it 3 stars. I love Steins Gate so much, and I am so happy to have another way to relive this story, but it's very summarized. I also remember it taking a while for me to get into the story while playing the visual novel. For anyone interested I would highly recommend the visual novel if you have the time. I will say the anime is wonderful too but I watched after playing the visual novel so I had all this background information, and attachment to all the characters before watching it. I know people who have only watched the anime and really like it. Not as intensely as I do, but they still consider it to be one of the best underrated animes so give it a try :)

¿Que acabo de leer? Jajaja
Nunca he visto el anime, y leí el manga por recomendación de mi novio. (Ya he leído mangas con anterioridad por lo que no tengo ningún problema).
Sin duda alguna es una historia que años atrás hubiera amado. Hoy en día, siento que le faltan muchas explicaciones para ser un primer tomo, un personaje principal maduro que esté acorde a lo que está pasando y personajes secundarios con un interés real a la trama.

Comprendo que es en parte comedia, por lo que dejare pasar todo lo demás y claro terminare los otros dos tomos, por que dentro de todo, el que pueda viajar en el tiempo con un microondas y un celular, claro que da risa. Por el momento me deja con la duda y ganas de seguir leyendo.

I could barely finish this manga. I found the main character annoyingly unlikeable and by the end completely revolting. For a scientist, he’s a completely incompetent. Faris was the next most annoying with the constant meows in her dialogue. There wasn’t nearly enough action, just lots of shouting and discussing archaic technology in relation to time travel which came off to me as rather dull and pretentious. Kirisu was the only character that seemed to have any intelligence despite them all working in a lab. The author does very little to help us connect to these characters to the point I just didn’t care what happened at all. I do not understand why this manga is so popular.

if you are new to the Steins;Gate universe, I highly recommend to play the game or watch the anime before getting involved with the mangas.

the mangas try to adapt the whole universe in three volumes, leaving no room to breathe. in my opinion, it’s hard to understand complex matters as they are not well explained or even skipped, and you don’t get to experience the tension that builds up during key moments.

This book talking about the character which is Okabe he had ability that can know the the world line is change. And after he go to a man’s speech he, the world line has been change, he found his lab has a machine that can send email to pass (pass of 1 week). And he saw the girl that was already dead.

If I didn't like Steins;Gate from before, I wouldn't even give it 3 stars.

The drawing style is not as good as original visual novel and anime... There are several grammar mistakes and the story is abridged - leaves out a lot. Nevertheless, you can get immersed in it, and it's an easy read. I bet the next 2 manga books are better (simply because of the story) but I ain't readin' 'em.

Hm, está bueno, sí, pero creo que el manga no refleja bien las escenas del juego y el anime. Es una buena fuente de entretenimiento si ya jugaste la visual novel o viste el anime, pero por sí mismo, deja mucho que desear.
