If you thought physics was all about measuring the temperature of ice ina bucket or trying to fathom the Theory of Relativity, think again. In a series of intriguing, entertaining, and often extraordinary scenarios, Physics Without the Boring Bits brings to life 35 key physics ideas in a way anyone can understand. Read this book and you’ll find out how to fend off killer asteroids, live through a lightning strike, tough it out during an earthquake, and fall into a black hole without being turned into spaghetti. And you’ll also discover how to turn lead into gold, how to travel to the center of the Earth, how to crack supposedly unbreakable codes and how to use physics to predict the stock market. So if you want to get to grips with the science behind relativity, antigravity, and parallel universes, or you are really more interested in learning how to teleport, travel through time, or achieve immortality, this is the perfect introduction to the astonishing world of modern physics.
Brilliant. I thought the layout was a bit cheesy, with the chapters laid out in a "how-to" format. Some chapters were more boring than others, but that was due to personal preference more than the author's shortcomings. I def learned quite a bit and anyway and I bet the Big Bang Theory will be even funnier now.
One of the best books to introduce you to physics. Really grabs your attention even if you're not into science. Cool, easy explanations and possiblities.
