Vital Information and Review Questions for the NCE Study Set

This is a Compact Disc version of Howard Rosenthal's Vital Information and Review Questions for the NCE and State Counseling Exams tape set.  First packaged as a set in 1993, and later released as a revised and updated edition in 2002, these tapes have demonstrated to be a valuable resource for anyone preparing for these difficult exams. The material covered on the exams is arranged into nine major areas, containing explanations of terms, concepts, and inter-relationships between subjects. Key definitions, theories and techniques are discussed, and appraisal, research and evaluation methods are presented in an easily-understood format. The CD set includes an increased number of tutorial questions, totaling upwards of 325. These questions are supplemented with additional information on all nine major areas of the National Counselor Examination. Also included are mini-review sections for oral and written exams, designed to allow the listener to work at her own pace. New to this collection will be an additional last minute review CD, designed to be played several days prior to the exam or even on the morning of the exam, nearly 60 minutes in length. Also included is a bonus Test Anxiety Prevention CD .

Any evaluation of this work is not based on whether or not it was enjoyable to listen to (it was, OK--probably as engaging as any study guide could be), but whether or not it was effective in helping me pass the NCE. So far so good though it didn't really feel like many of the CPCE questions flowed straight from this information.

Comprehensive review of the information the test covers. Rosenthal narrates and shows himself to be knowledgeable, with a breezy conversational style that is information-dense without being long winded. I put it on my phone and use my commutes as study sessions.

Helpful and easy to understand. Lots of repetition, but in a good way for studying.
