So much revelation for today, like I did not expect any of it. I can wipe my brow and frustration though, because Tsubaki is back at Kogetsuan—dragging back the angst-filled atmosphere. That's what's important. Anyway, the cliffhanger is making me furious! Next volume please!

Oh, wow! I just found out through the author's notes at the end of the book that this series was turned into an 8-episode drama! They must have cut a lot out... Anyway, you can watch (in the US) on an Amazon Prime add-on station, Doki.
I feared I would get second lead syndrome with this series, but I just want everyone to take a step back and let Nao and Tsubaki be happy! I have enjoyed the drama but it needs to settle down now. lol Adding this love triangle so late in the game is too much.

Gonna chase me out the supposed-heir of this wagashi shop? Not on my watch, "hire me as a confectioner and keep me by your side". Holy sheet, that was smooth entrance, stop being so charismatic Tsubaki 😌 also is that your excuse to stay by her side.

Also i love how everyone keep wanting to make them together, related tho 😌👌 Angsty convoluted romance, who dunnit? like , even if we suspected but how and who? on what evidence..?? ughh my head. haha

Maybe I spoke too soon? I liked this volume so much more than I have the others. It felt different to me than the others. Also noticed that the covers through 17-20 are pink instead of red, so hopefully that means that it will continue to get better.

Okay, I don’t wanna spoil anything, so I’m only going to give a vague-ish review of the first couple of books in the series! First, let me assure any of you who might not be interested in NSFW material (or disappoint those of you who are lol)– this isn’t that spicy of a comic. There are a few panels in each book so far that include very brief allusions to sex but don’t show anything outright.
Y’all. This series had me in a VISE GRIP!! It’s SO GOOD. It’s incredibly well written, and the art is just so beautiful and elegant, matching the subject matter perfectly. The number of kimono and wagashi illustrated in here alone is so satisfying.
This series is the kind that gets better and better with each volume, and that’s not something I can usually say about much these days, so I was so, so happy to read this. It unfolds throughout and never lets you rest on your laurels, thinking you know for sure what’s going to happen or who will be unveiled to be involved with the main plot or any number of subplots going on at the same time. Beautiful!
I love the characters, and I love how the creator develops their relationships across so many volumes. I felt so fulfilled watching these characters’ arcs unfold the way they did. I want to say more, but I would be spoiling SO MUCH if I did! Just, trust me, you need to go give this series a read, it’s fantastic. It’s no wonder they got a tv adaptation!
I disagree a bit with the jacket copy on this series, describing it as spine chilling. Maybe I’m desensitized by all the horror movies I watch (lol jk it’s a lifetime’s worth of trauma 😂), but this was actually much more of a wagashi-centric drama, romance, thriller for me than a spine chiller. And that is not a bad thing at all! I think this series is so successful in part because of how fluidly it combined so many genres into a seamless and engaging story.
My point is, the jacket copy doesn’t quite do it justice. If you like comics that introduce you to artisan crafts and what goes into making them, this is a comic you want to read. If you like enemies to lovers and/or enemies to friends, this is your comic. If you like mystery and thrillers, this is a comic for you. If you like attention to detail and well designed plots and other aspects of writing as a craft, this is definitely your comic! Odds are very good you’ll like this comic, my friend!
Now, lemme give you a couple warnings, though: there is a lot of showing of abuse, violence, and manipulative, if not gaslighting, behavior in here. There is murder, attempted murder, child neglect, the loss of parents, etc. There are some topics I wish the creator had addressed better, such as the domestic abuse aspects, especially earlier in the series. But I promise you, the story is worth it.
Overall, I love this series so much! I’m in pain waiting in line for books 17-19 from my library right now, and I can’t wait to see how it continues. Please read it so we can talk about it!

It's seems Tsubaki is saving the day wanting to work with Nao in the Kogetsuan. Between the burn injuries and her desperation over the ceremony, it's a miracle Nao doesn't spiral as badly as she did leading to the face off for grandfather. Meanwhile tensions are still high on the personal front, especially with Shiori's sister, Yukari, now in the picture who seems fixated on Takigawa. Meanwhile Takigawa has professed his love for Nao, while it's still clear Nao and Tsubaki each have feelings for each other still. That's a fine mess of relationships and who should or shouldn't be with whom to sort out. Yukari may be an even bigger threat than Kyoko as Kyoko came from the shadows and attempted sabotage. With the exception of perhaps the initial attack leading to Tsubaki's injuries with the broken pottery when they claimed to be husband and wife, there was very little direct confrontation or danger where Yukari has gone straight for physical harm that could be deadly.

End your chapters on a cliff-hanger…a piece of advice I have heard many, many authors say they learned as they wrote. And it seems each volume of Something’s Wrong with Us must end that way so that we are clamoring for the next edition and more, more, more!
And, yes, I close the pages of Volume 13 clamoring for more, more, more. Each volume is a WOW with its incredible artwork and captivating storyline. The twists in each one keeps the story moving along…and have me thankful I’m grabbing the manga in bunches so I can binge-read. 😊

RECAP: Tsubaki asks to work at the shop and to be kept by her side. Nao learns about Takigawa’s past and his plot and is shook. Lots of tension scenes with T and N. He’s confronting her about her pregnancy but then drops it. Ends with shiori’s sister pushing Nao down the stairs. Bonus story about Jojima.

I really love this series. Every volume just completely sucks me in and reminds me why I am so invested in this story. Definitely a series I want to binge start to finish once it's complete.
