This is a full-length instalove contemporary romance. You can read it as a standalone or as part of the I’m Yours series.
Mica Rae is a contemporary romance author. She lives in Oregon with her Havanese and two Doodles. In the fall you can find her screaming at the TV while cheering for her Oklahoma State Cowboys. The rest of the year when she’s not writing or reading, her wanderlust has her traveling the globe. Her love of history currently has her on a mission to visit all thirteen presidential libraries and museums.
Absolutely brilliant story. I love how this author manages to entwine realise struggles with romance. Not only are they relatable but they're realism provokes thought in your own life and with judgements you may or may not make. Very well written and a fantastic story of love conquers all.
Oh my gosh where do I start. This was such a roller coaster of emotions and I loved it! Dalton "DJ" Franklin was motocross's golden boy, a player on and off the track and had numerous championships under his belt until his last race. Almost to the finish line and his knee hits the ground and he's airborne and then it's black. Now he's just a shell of what he used to be and thinking he has nothing to offer anyone. Three years later, Fiona and her sorority sister Emma are out celebrating her first job after graduating college and she meets DJ at a bar. She gives him a fake name thinking they won't see each other again, it's a one-night stand. DJ was so smitten by Fiona but ran out after their hookup not even getting a phone number and of course has no way to find her, until fate steps in and there she is at her PR job at Titan Racing. She is surprised to see him but they get together only to have a secret come out and she freaks out. But he has a secret of his own. Can she get past all her fears and how will she react to his secret? Can he handle it all? This is so emotional and at times you just want to scream at her but you also want to cry not just for her but also DJ. Can't wait to read about Chase but would also like to see a story on Emma. The side characters are great as well. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!
DJ & Fiona story is a roller coaster of emotions and I was along for the ride. I probably shouldn't of started my read so late at night cuz I stayed up way to late because I needed to know more. Dalton Franklin "DJ" was a Motocross racer a golden boy and he was kind of a player with his groupies. He suffers and injury during one of his races and things changed for him. 3yrs later Fiona And her sorority sister Emma are out celebrating her 1st new job right after graduation she meets DJ out at the bar. Giving him a fake name thinking he is a one night stand but little did she know things are definitely going to change.
DJ & Fiona are terrified to open up to the other about things that are going on with themselves and their lives. When you have a past sometimes its not easy to share with someone you hardly know. DJ is smitten with Fiona and regrets not exchanging numbers but when opportunity rises and he gets his chance and sees her again he takes full advantage of that.
Gaaahhh I have so much more I wanna give so many spoilers but I highly recommend Mica's books they always have a way of pulling you in.
I have been anxiously awaiting DJ's story and Mica did not disappoint!
I thought I had an idea of how this book was going to go, but within the first three chapters I knew I was wrong - in the best way possible! Mica gave me two characters I didn't know I needed to know. DJ is so much more than just the pretty faced race boy and Fiona is so much more than the fresh faced recent college graduate. Their story was emotional. It had me wanting to jump into their life and shake them for being silly and not just communicating better, then wanting to hug them tight and celebrate their growth.
I love that this book made me sit and think about my own communication quarks! I usually get so engrossed in the story and never think about how it can relate to my own personal life. I LOVE that Mica did that for me in this story.
I do love that some of the side characters chose forgiveness and compassion in the one scene - although I was secretly hoping for some drama and outbursts!
This was another fantastic story to go with the I'm Yours series.
The characters are well constructed and have interesting back stories which is part of what helps them relate to one another. In fact, the characters are so relatable, that I found myself yelling at my book when they made decisions I knew were wrong; but, of course, everything worked out as it should by the ending.
Definitely filled with some sauciness! Made me appreciate that I had it on my Kindle when reading it in front of my kid. Ha! The plot moves along at a fast enough pace where it doesn't lag, while still allowing the reader to enjoy the small moments.
This book is not along the type of genre that I usually read, but it was a great change up and I'm actually looking forward to trying out more from this author.
This story was not what I was expecting. Definitely a great read. Loads of emotions from both characters, DJ and Fiona, and great supporting characters. Emma is a hoot. Nice comedic relief moments as well, e.g., clowns under the bed, reciting preambles and monsters eating feet! Poignant moments as well, "Nothing is good or bad, it just is." I didn't want the story to end, that's for sure. I'm really intrigued for the next book, Chase.
I read this book in one sitting. I just could not put it down. It felt like a race to get to the end of the book. Poor communication and a lot of misunderstandings play a big role in this story. It is amazing from the first page. Both DJ and Fiona have secrets and are ‘damaged’. Both had big dreams about their futures that were crushed in some way. I fell in love with not only the main characters but also the side characters. I really need all of their stories at this point. I love this authors writing style.
What an excellent read from page 1!!! I was unable to put this love story down & wanted to continue following the characters after turning the last page! Fiona & DJ are characters that you truly cheer for throughout the entire book & want to be best friends with!
Race is a beautiful love story that proves vulnerability takes great strength. Fiona and DJ have struggled with issues that make them feel broken and undeserving of unconditional love. Together, they find a beautiful strength. But, will they let themselves be loved as much as they love each other?
Mica Rae is one of my favorite authors because her characters are real people - they don't live fairy-tale charmed lives. They deal with realistic struggles and trauma. Her books always validate that everyone wants and deserves love.
What can I say about this book? I loved it from the very beginning. It didn't start how I had expected, but that didn't take away from the story of DJ and Fiona. These two characters are forced to face some very real realities. Things that would break most people. And while they did change them, what they are forced to deal with also brings them closer together.
Mica once again tackled a tough subject and taught us that while we don't always understand why we go through tough times, those tough times teach us what we are made of. They can also teach us what others may have to go through in the future, giving us insight on how to help them face those times when they crash.
I loved this story, it was unlike any other I've read before. I highly recommend it and can't wait for the next book in this series.
Loved DJ and Fiona's story. It's such an amazing read. I was captivated from the beginning to the end. There's so much these two need to work through to get to their ending, to being together. As you read this story you'll see how they work through everything, their doubts, fears, insecurities, and how they just never give up on each other. So many emotions with this one. It's a must read.
