This is a full-length second chance surprise baby contemporary romance. You can read it as a standalone or as part of the I’m Yours series.
Mica Rae is a contemporary romance author. She lives in Oregon with her Havanese and two Doodles. In the fall you can find her screaming at the TV while cheering for her Oklahoma State Cowboys. The rest of the year when she’s not writing or reading, her wanderlust has her traveling the globe. Her love of history currently has her on a mission to visit all thirteen presidential libraries and museums.
David and Kiera met when she volunteered with David’s charity organization. Kiera fell in love with David and soon found out she was pregnant, panicked and flew back home to her Mom’s house. She had planned on going back but found out her Mom had breast cancer so she stayed to help her until she died, never returning to David. A couple years later Kiera finds a lump in her breast so feeling the only person she can trust her son Tyler with, is his father. David is shocked to learn he has an almost 4 yr old son and the possibility of losing the one woman he ever loved, once again. David hates what she did even though he still loves her but can he find a way to forgive her.
This is such an emotional roller coaster and shows you the tough decisions made and what Kiera went through. You’re also dealing with the anger David has for not knowing about his son. Your heart will break, and then find laughter with Millie. Definitely a page turner you won’t put down till it ends. 5 stars
This is the final book in the I'm yours series and I absolutely loved it.
Keira has a health crisis and so now she needs David's help to take care of their son. Only David wasn't aware he had a son because Keria left him in the middle of the night 4 years ago...
David is hurt like no other and he truly loves her and wants her but he's also scared to acknowledge his feelings. Keira wants David’s forgiveness in hopes they still have some sort of future. They both need time to get back to what they were and there is bumps in the road along the way.
This story pulled at heart so much, such a beautiful second chance story with redemption, heart ache, and steam. This also has so so many moments that have you in your feelings and wonder what might happen. Mica yet again writes another beautiful story.
The last book in Mica’s “I’m Yours” series, Chase, didn’t disappoint! Although this novel is coined “romance”, like the other 4 books of this series, there was so much more dimension than simply a love story all us single ladies wish would unfold in our lives.
The meat of this book focused on the emotional highs & struggles that comes with life choices & how we try to navigate those choices all while protecting our sanity & future. As with each of Mica’s books, Chase was charming from page 1 & I found myself cheering for both David & Keira from the start. Their love for each other transcended life’s obstacles once they could align their feelings & honesty open up to each other.
I read this book in one day, I was unable to put it down, captivating from the minute I opened the cover. Highly recommended!!
Once again, I must applaud Mica Rae for creating another remarkable story that had me feeling all the feels. "Chase" is a story about heartbreak and pain, but also redemption through love and forgiveness. I am obsessed with how she weaves all of these characters' lives together to create such unique plots. Just when you thought you saw the last of the twins, here comes David's story, my favorite of the boyfriends in this series, by the way! David has a story to tell about betrayal, but Keira has a story to tell about self-worth and fear. I couldn't help but root for them both. That's the beauty of Mica Rae's writing, she allows you to see into the soul of her characters, and you can't help but fall in love with them. Another win, in my opinion.
What an emotional and beautiful second chance story for David and Keira. Mica crafted a wonderful story around a heartbreaking diagnosis and she wrote it with grace, compassion and was written incredibly accurate and relatable.
I was roped in from the very first chapter and my heart was truly invested. I went through all the feels with each roadblock they encountered. I felt like my heart was breaking right along with them and then felt it mended and stitched back up when they got their well deserved HEA.
Amazing job as always, Mica! I am so sad the Franklin family series is over but am so excited for what you have up your sleeves for a new series.
Keira left David without an explanation, she returns four years later leaves him with a precious gift. She did leave a few instructions though! A very hard subject. that the author has dealt with. It clears the air really quick for David. Trust is hard to except. David finds her even more beautiful now than before. Millie is a hoot and just what this story needs for comic relief. "Forever of todays and tomorrows for as long as you want."
Holy moly mica does it again with the finale of the I’m yours series. This book is filled with so much angst and heart pumping moments. Moments where you want to rip your heart out for Kiera fighting an ugly disease to sitting at the edge of your seat because I couldn’t read fast enough when David was playing volleyball with his emotions. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read more from this author! Well done!
Chase is a heartbreakingly beautiful second chance romance. David and Keira present is much more complicated than their past. Keira's facing a health crisis that forces her to confront and accept the mistakes she's made. She has to have faith that David can forgive her - for leaving and keeping their son a secret. David has to wrestle with his love for Keira and the hate he feels for what she did. Can they be a family after everything that happened between them?
I love that Mica Rae doesn't gloss over the uncomfortable emotions and circumstances David and Keira have to navigate. You find yourself just as conflicted about how you want their story to end. But, you can be sure Mica Rae delivers as always, and you'll cheer at David and Keira's ending. Romance, heartache, redemption, and steam? This one has it all.
This author can write some amazing broken characters. Keira ran from David four years ago because she was scared. Can David see past everything and give her a second chance? David is such a loving man and is afraid to have his heart broken again. This book was incredibly emotional. I could feel David’s anger and his love. I definitely could not put this book down as I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The epilogue was the perfect ending!
Hmmmm… beginning and end 👍, but the middle frustrated me
This was the first book in the series I read, and I was drawn to it because of the secret baby angle. Love the secret babies and second chances! It can be read as a standalone, which is great because I totally missed that it was a series. The story starts off with a bang, and really draws you in. Unfortunately in the middle I was mostly frustrated AF, and had to push my self to continue. Then it switched back to reeling me in like the beginning. This is an emotional story, as we discover Keira has breast cancer and seeks David out to help with their son while she gets treatment.
The story jumps right in with Keira waiting outside a hotel room with her 3 year old in her arms. David steps off the elevator with a woman wrapped around him and fondling him, and sees the woman that disappeared on him 4 years previously is outside his room. Suddenly he finds himself left alone with the child he never knew he had, as Kiera bolts saying she’ll be back. She literally gets on a plane and heads to the surgery center for a double mastectomy as soon as she lands.
Keira met David when she was 19 and on a humanitarian trip. He’s a few years older and a director, but they fall hot and heavy until she disappears from his bed and then seemingly from existence. Obviously some big things happened in her life, including finding out that she’s pregnant. There are a bunch of circumstances that prevented her from finding him again, including the fact that she was a scared 19-year-old new adult dealing with some big adult issues. When David finds out he has a son, he is appropriately angry. I was there for that. I expected the struggle with emotions, and love that. My problem is in the middle of the story, he was so hot and cold and almost cruel. Over and over she apologized and even begged him to forgive her and love her. I started to wince at her begging for scraps. He would waffle, lead her to have hope, then pull back and reject her, but then would turn it around on her with comments like “is that all I am to you? Your son’s father?” when she would try to protect her heart. It became tiresome and frustrating because he wasn’t even really struggling with being angry anymore but just almost toying with her emotions. “I love her… but we can’t be together because it might tear our family apart and I don’t want to lose them. So I’ll just reject her and push her away instead ”?? What?!? And the throwing Emma on the fire? Ick. He flaunted his “best friend” (that he used to hook up with) in front of Keira. Even after knowing it hurt her. The night before she starts radiation, he texts Emma “I need you” and sends her plane tickets. So the day Keira is to start radiation for breast cancer she wakes up to find this woman in her home unexpectedly. There’s gratuitous “I love you’s” and touching between them, and it felt extremely hurtful on both their parts, particularly since they both claim to have nothing but platonic feelings for each other. To be honest I saw that she has her own book, and I guarantee I will not read it because I disliked her as a result that much.
When kids are written in the storyline, it’s often a challenge. Typically they’re not realistically written, and used as a plot device even when it doesn’t work. This was another such case. This child was three years old and waffled between talking like a toddler (as one might expect) and talking like a teenager. I cannot imagine a three-year-old swapping from toddler grammar to saying “no offense, Mom, but daddy said I am too big to be carried by you anymore. “ There’s a boatload of cliches (why is Daddy sleeping in the guest room? Can we all sleep together in mommy’s bed because it’s the only way I’ll feel safe 🙄 ) and weird *not age appropriate comments, including the preschooler making comments about how David and Keira must be in love because he recognized the way they looked at each other as being the same as the way his ccousin’sparents looked at each other. I guarantee my three year old never compared the way my husband and I versus their aunt and uncle looked at each other.
All that to say, I did enjoy the story. I just got lost in the middle a bit. Frustrated AF. It was definitely sweet seeing these two find their way back together, and watching him help support her through her treatment for breast cancer. I loved that his sister was so welcoming to her, and shared her own history to help them bond. I dislike his twin and felt his own anger was foolish and unnecessary. But it is what it is. I may go back and read his sisters story at least, as she definitely sounds like she’s got a tale and her daughter is a handful but a hoot.
Terrible read. The heroine was insufferable. She spent the whole book crying. And she didn't cry because she had cancer and she was scared her 4 years old son could be motherless, noooo, she cried because the baby's daddy didn't want to fuck her. Girl was in love with him, abandoned him when she learned she was pregnant and completely disappeared for 4 years. Then, she knocked on his door, let her son with him to go get treatment without telling him shit?! LIKE GIRL. His friend Emma was a childish annoying person (she was like a copy cat of Jess from New Girl). Couldn't stand the hero either. He was so weak. The kids were the highlight but acted way older than 4 years old would.
