Meet five friendly frogs in this exciting addition to the much-loved That's not my… series. Babies love the best-selling That’s not my… books with their bold illustrations, patches to stroke, and a mouse to spot on every page, all designed to develop sensory and language awareness.
Fiona Watt is an Editorial Director and writer at Usborne Publishing. She started working at Usborne in 1989 and has written and edited hundreds of books including baby and novelty, sticker, art and craft, cookery, science and activity books. Fiona graduated from Exeter University with a B.Ed. (Hons.), specialising in Psychology and Art and Design. After university she worked as a researcher and writer for a company which published educational material for places where children went on school visits (zoos, museums, stately homes etc). She then taught seven, eight, and nine year olds for five years; three years at a state school in Sevenoaks in Kent, and two years at The British School in the Netherlands in The Hague.
Having joined Usborne in 1989, Fiona became an editorial director in 2003, largely responsible for writing baby and novelty books, as well as art and activity titles. She has written over 100 titles for Usborne Publishing, perhaps most notably the, ‘That’s not my ….‘ touchy-feely series.
I was confused by the relationship between the frog and the mouse. The mouse is searching for "my" frog. Is the frog a pet of the mouse? A slave? An interspecies significant other?
Also is this mouse going around just groping all these frogs? The mouse feels up the tongue of a frog that isn't even the same color as the mouse's frog!
Two pages later the mouse does feel the bumps on a bright red frog, so maybe there is a lesson to be learned here both about personal space and aposematism.
PS "Its toes are too shiny." Shiny isn't a texture!

Of the "That's not my..." books that we have, I like this one the least. I don't know why. Baby likes it just as much as the others, which is to say, rather a lot.
Very good touchy-feely book and thought it was a great library pick. Less enthused about the publisher given the MLM side division in America, buuuuut this was from the library for me so it's ok.
This was the other library book I picked up for my son & though it was also beat up, we all enjoyed it much more. The texture areas were very clever & I especially loved the shiny red toes page.
We have "That's not my Train" as well as "That's not my Frog", both from Usborne Books & More and I have to say both my sons are crazy about these! I love them because they are VERY sturdy and take all the *love* my boys dish out. My oldest, who is 3 loves that he can "read" (recite based on what picture is next) this book, and my 1 year old is enthralled with all the different textures. We'll be reading these for a long time to come.
Again I'll say these touch and feel books are good at holding my 2 year old's attention most of the time but I don't like or enjoy reading them her enough to buy them or recommend them to anyone. I mean I'd take them out every so often from our library for her enjoyment. She knows the word frog and the gaint stuffed frog puppet at our library scares her. I hope this would make her less scared of them...hopefully it works.
Anotther of the Usborne Touchy-Feely Books. This one shows frogs that have various textures that a baby can run their hands across as you read the book to them. Allows you to cover various concepts like bumpy and smooth.
