This is the latest in my That's Not My ... obsession. This time we take on UNICORNS!!!! This is my second unicorn read this month and I have another two planned for the weekend. As I missed (shame on me!) Unicorn Day on 9 April, but will most certainly be celebrating it annually from 2018, I officially declare this ...
🦄 Unicorn Month! 🦄

This was another cute addition to the That's Not My ... series, but so much better because, duh, unicorns! I for one am stoked that our sweet little white mouse rejected so many unicorns on the way to finding theirs, because that leaves five unicorns looking for someone to love them - and I call dibs on all of them!

I want the one with the fluffy mane. I want the one with the rainbow coloured mane and super soft ears. I want the bumpy hooved one with the pink mane and purple stripey horn. I want the furry tailed one with the yellow mane and horn. Oh, and I certainly claim the smooth winged one with pink mane and yellow horn flying past the rainbow. If any of you want to borrow one at any time you're more than welcome but as I already made pretty clear, I've got dibs on every single one of the rejects. So there, Mr Mouse! You don't get to change your mind now!

Just between you and I, Mr Mouse had better be on the lookout because I may well be planning on unicorn-napping borrowing his unicorn with the rainbow coloured mane and sparkly horn in the near future.

I like the soft unicorns and the fun textures. As a newborn myself, it was lots of fun to get to touch and play with the unicorns. The little mouse was very cute too. Would definitely recommend to any nice babies out there who like unicorns! Neeeeiiiiigggh! <3

"That's not my unicorn! It's mane is too soft ..."

One of my earliest memories is carrying around a tactile Noddy board book which had two wheels at the bottom that turned on every page, and the occasional felt insert for Big Ear's clothes. So I was thrilled to see this new title advertised, which marries all the innocence of a board book for young children with the LGBTQIA+ sensation of unicorns and rainbows.
"That's not my unicorn. It's wings are too smooth."
Rachel Wells' illustrations are beautifully crisp and simple, and the textured inserts are gorgeous pastel coloured high quality materials. The silver gilt around the edges of the pages was an extra special touch. The book had all the charm of a unicorn, and I was glad to be able to share this with my husband on the third anniversary of the day we first met, with the promise of reading it on other special occasions with other special people in the future. Thank you for reading it with me!

This book is just one in the ‘That’s not my …’ series. I love all of the books in this series with there interactive, touch and feel pages. This book includes double page illustrations, depicting differing areas of the body of the unicorn which show why “That’s not my unicorn”. All of the illustrations fill the double page with a double page bleed with the relevant background colours, for example green for grass and blue for the sky. This makes the reader feel more included in the story and the use of bright colours really draws the eye and makes all of the images stand out. All of the unicorns in the story are illustrated in white with differing colours used for different aspects for example
This book allows young readers to interact with the book by touching the different aspects mentioned, for example “That’s not my unicorn. Its ears are too soft.” This also aids readers recollection of body parts so useful for very young readers learning about the body.
The front cover depicts a white unicorn facing to the right with a touch and feel mane. There is a whole page bleed of a yellow background with pink stars all over. The front cover is very attractive and immediately draws the eyes and with the big title of “That’s not my unicorn” which is both easy to read and shows that this is one of the books in the “That’s not my …” series.
This is a good book which can be read to very young children while allowing them to be actively engaged touching the differing elements for themselves. That is not to say however, that this book cannot be read independently. While allowing children to build up their knowledge on body parts it may also be suggested that it may be expected that children already have gained the knowledge on body parts allowing them to correctly feel the right parts.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!

First, unicorns are mythical and magical creatures, so the book looks magical. How? The cover has a shimmer to it. Plus, the board book pages are plated with slivery rainbow color.

The cover of the book helps readers figure out that it is a touch and feel book. The mane of the unicorn is a fluffy fabric.

As readers flip the pages, it is fun not only to feel the textures, but to also spot the mouse on each page. The little white mouse it besides or on its unicorn friends.

It is repetitive with each page starting with "That's not my unicorn." This helps young readers, after they surpassed the touch & feel book stage, to build confidence in reading. There are six reasons why that's not my unicorn, so it is a quick read.

The only negative I have to say is that unicorns don't have wings. In the book it says that its wings are too smooth. That would be a Pegasus. Is there such things as a Pegasus unicorn?

I highly recommend this book for all little ones!

Dat is niet mijn eenhoorn. Tekst: Fiona Watt. Illustraties: Rachel Wells.

This is a lovely sparkly book so it caught my daughter's eye straight away!! This book is perfect for babies and toddlers and has different textures for them to explore which is great fun. This is my first (that's not my) book I have bought and I'm already looking into buying some more for Christmas 🦄🦄

Cute sensory book for young children. I wish the message was more embracing of differences. I think a unicorn tail can never be too soft, for example! Children will enjoy discovering the unique sensory elements on each page. Adults will enjoy that this book is short and provides opportunities for discussion with children.

I swear, kids these days are so spoiled. I'd have taken any old unicorn, not caring about manes being too fluffy or hooves too bumpy. Actually the bumpy hooves are quite nice for running fingernails over.

Another great addition to the "That's not my" series. If you have children this series of books is great to have. And soon, it will be coming with a nice plush unicorn. I wish the goat one came with a goat.

The 50th title in the That's Not My... series, but unquestionably the best. This has quickly become my little girl's favourite book - as soon as she sees it she squeals in delight and tries to throw it over the back of the sofa (and I promise, that's the highest praise that she can give a book).

This is probably my favourite in the series so far. Like all the 'That's Not My...' books, it's exceptionally well made, but I love the unicorns' rainbow manes, sparkly wings and glittery horns in this one.

Simple but super cute pre-school book with lots of different touchy-feely elements, ranging from fluffy to sparkly to bumpy. My three-year-old adores it and can already recite the whole thing.

Technically two of the unicorns the mouse rejects are in fact pegai and not unicorns at all.
