Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name.
Roberts was born in Saratoga Springs, New York. After attending public schools, she attended Skidmore College. She wrote in a variety of genres: poetry, short stories, children’s literature, and novels. When she was in her 30s, she and her husband began to record what she said were messages from a personality named "Seth", and she wrote several books about the experience.
At times The Personal Sessions gets very personal when dealing with the individual problems as well as the relationship problems of Jane Roberts and Rob Butts. Many of these are discussed in the regular Seth books, but here the content is far more intimate, revealing just how serious their problems were. And even with all Seth's wisdom and assistance, they still struggled with them over many years. Yet, in spite of these challenges, or perhaps because of them, they were able to produce a huge quantity of invaluable material.
The biggest benefit for me from The Personal Sessions is the more detailed analysis of specific problems and the different ways Seth's concepts can be used to resolve them. Some of the Seth books are a little too esoteric to be useful in everyday life. One caveat, the material in this series is presented in a more random, piecemeal way, since it includes personal sessions, partial sessions, and sessions that were inadvertently left out of the other books.
I only bought the first 2 volumes of The Personal Sessions (from www.Sethcenter.com). Because of the cost, I may wait until they're published as ebooks before I get the other 5. There are plans to do so—eventually.
