Born 1959. Grew up in Suburbia (Washington, DC, then Omaha, Nebraska). Kent State University, 1977-82, majoring in Architecture with minors in Partying and the Society For Creative Anachronisms. Then moved to North Carolina, and never left.
Worked as draftsman to local architects for 15 years; also as movie-theatre projectionists, census clerk, hobby-shop staff.
Volunteer DJ at WXDU, Duke student radio, 1986-2009.
Member of Carolina Bear Lodge (gay fraternal order) and St. John's Metropolitan Community Church.
Married my husband Robin unofficially in 2005, legally in 2015.
