Ahhhh, again more of my questions are answered! I like Xorn. I had not heard of this character except in a weird way.

El conjunto sigue quedando en evidencia con el "apuro" gráfico de Ethan Von Sciver y Igor Kordey. Quienes realmente muestran un estilo verdaderamente feísta, que al menos sirve para valorar de verdad la identidad gráfica de Frank Quitely. Que se deja caer para empezar y finalizar recopilatorio. Salvando unos muebles que es una pena que desmerezcan la propuesta argumental de Grant Morrison de acudir a los Shi´ar de una forma fuera de lo recurrente en las aventuras de la Patrulla X. Los maliciosos hilos de Cassandra Nova usurpando el cuerpo de Charles Xavier, azuzan al gran Imperio galáctico a tratar de eliminar una enfermedad de raíz que puede amenazar extenderse por el cosmos. Los antiguos aliados de la Patrulla se presentan como insensibles agentes espoleados por órdenes que no se molestan en cuestionar. Mostrándose de peor forma que los "U-Men" que ya habían puesto patas arriba el entorno académico de la Mansión-X. Que aquí ya deja a las amenazas constantes de Hogwarts, como un patio de recreo.
"Imperial" sigue afianzando un enfoque revolucionario para esta franquicia Marvelita, con Grant Morrison desafiando los límites de la ingenuidad super comic book todo lo posible. Desconozco si en lo que resta de etapa, Quitely conseguirá mantenerse más tiempo a cargo de las viñetas. Porque es frustrante que la percepción final quede tan sesgada en el plano gráfico.

Better than the last volume, but still not to my liking. Fantomex was a nice touch that included a history of the Weapon Plus program.
The art was mostly good. The story, readable. Three stars.

This is Morrison at his pulpy best - he may not be throwing around the big ideas here, but he slowly and surely builds up the tension and when assisted by Quitely (the other artists are messy and just don’t really match his ideas) he has a genuinely visceral sense of getting the visuals to match his writing. He’s also one of the few X Men writers to genuinely understand how these characters work, with each main character actually feeling like individuals rather than archetypes. Excellent stuff

Graphic novel collecting together New X-Men #122-126, featuring Professor X, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Beast and Emma Frost.
One of the weaker new X-Men graphics, both in terms of story and artwork. Charles possessed by his evil twin sister Cassandra Nova went to visit Princess Lilandra and has brainwashed her into sending Shi'ar Imperial guards to attack the school and wipe out all mutants. She has also infected the x-men with nanite sentinels in order to weaken their defence.
First off I've never been too keen on the Shi'ar arcs. What I love about the X-Men are the mutant/human relations. Bringing in a sci-fi element of aliens with the Empress Lilandra and her alien guards is almost too much - there's enough conflict on Earth without taking us out of this world. It also takes the focus away from the characters as we are confronted with all the aliens and their super powers.
Still, the story is epic and the threat on a grand scale. I really love Cassandra Nova and what she represents - the anti professor X, or the dark side in us all. I like the whole theory of the Mummudrai - the idea that we all have an evil side we kill off in the womb.
Also like the idea of nanite sentinels - its a really neat direction to take one of our favourite X-Men foes.
This volume is not very good for character arcs - Cyclops and Emma Frost aren't very likable here. Jean is stressed and taking on too much. Wolverine is his irrepressible self, but doesn't get action. Professor X spends nearly all his time possessed. Most interesting character in this one is Beast - there's one nice scene where he reveals to Trish that he might be gay.
This is an OK X-Men graphic, made better by the two volumes that precede it.

The quality drops off a little bit here, as things get a little bit too episodic, abstract and diverse. The stories jump around the world, with only a vague Cassandra Nova plot joining the stories together.
There still is a lot of quality however, and there are a lot of questions that arise from the action. Sadly I can't say I'm a big fan of the art style, I missed some of the higher quality work of previous volumes.
I did enjoy the introduction of some new characters, and it was cool to see the institute feeling like a school of kids again. I also enjoyed the final few pages, which ended on a dramatic note. A good read, but not the best.

I didn't enjoy this as much as the previous two volumes, but I still really enjoy Morrison's take on the X-'men. This feels like the end of "Season 1" of his run. I just don't care about the Shi-Ar that much.

Not bad considering I hadn't read parts 1 and 2, but despite this it was easy to follow. Regardless of weather I read 1 and 2 every once in a while it felt like a page was missing and the transitions weren't as smooth as it was just turning up reading part 3.
