This book has 31 pages of poetry and illustrations. The poems are written by David L. Harrison and illustrated by Betsy Lewin. This book would be a great book do a read aloud to intrigue students into a poetry unit and to learn how to rhyme since the genre is poetry and there are many humorous cases students would love. I liked how the illustrations accurately represented each individual page. The one thing that I would improve about this book is adding a few poems to make the book more positive. All of the poem examples seems like examples on why school is not so great, so some positive situations could change some negative thoughts in students about schools. Lastly, this book includes many examples of characterization that I feel students could relate to in a school setting.
They seemed to adjust the text to fit the pictures but it made the poems less enjoyable to read since the end rhymes were cut into multiple lines. And the "Test" is a blanant rip off of "Sick" by Shel Silverstein. Overall, I do not support this book
This book is a poetry book and I humors. This book has some awards like the IRA/CBC Children's Choice, the Kentucky Blue Grass Award nominee, and the Missouri State Reading Council Seal of Approval,This book has a series of poems in them such as missing the bus, and the cafeteria food. I gave this book a five star rating because I found the book to be laughable and if I laughed at the cute little parts I know any child would. I wish the books cover would be updated because I feel like this isn’t a book a child would first reach for just based of off the cover. I also wish the text were in a bigger font because I feel like that would also make the book more inviting for children.
Unbelievable! This book is just fantastic. I laughed out loud and read most of the book to my husband. It covers all of the funny, stressful aspects of being a little kid in school, such as; homework, catching the bus, cooties (love), lunchtime, bullies, homework, tests and so much more. The quirky, hysterical language and rhyming made it fun to read. I think this is a book that kids would come back to again and again. I know I will.
This is a humorous collection of poems about school difficulties, such as homework, cooties, tests, and much more. The rhyming in the poems makes them fun to read. This collection of poems are easily relatable for students and can be enjoyed by all ages.
This is a very funny poem book about school, and it also shows stuff about homework, tests, food, and writing in the book! This is my favorite poem book.
