I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
15 Minute Drawing: One-Line Drawing is a useful and inspirational book for any art lover. With the book divided into three sections, which are also provided with different levels of skill/difficulty, this book makes it accessible to even the beginner level of one-line drawing. The designs shown in the book seem simple enough to try your hand at and to build confidence and practice your skills at the same time and seem easy to follow and understand too.
This is a good resource and instructions for one-line drawings. Learning this for of art is good for some who love to add doodles to their journaling or for someone looking for a stress reliever.
What I found so appealing is that this book is pitched as 15 minute sketches and it delivers.
The book begins talking about simple materials - all you really need is a piece of paper and some sort of utensil - and then it goes into the practice.
The book begins with steps of warming up to loosen your wrist and then teaches you a simple, yet elegant one line rose.
From there, the book is broken up into sections such as flowers, other plants, people, and even some cute cups and animals.
Each doodle has step by steps on how to draw it in clear and concise language.
This book is literally for anyone who wants to draw and can be a fun practice for those who have zero skills and even those who have ample skills.
The book ends with a nice section on keeping a sketchbook practice.
Overall, this book is fantastic and would make a great gift for ones’ self or anyone else.
Learn to draw Pinterest-perfect one-line artwork for beginners!
I've trying to draw line art by looking at cool Etsy and Pinterest art and copying it, but it never looked right. 15-Minute Drawing: One-Line Drawing by Heinke Nied is exactly what any weekend warrior or hobby artist needs to get started.
Along with some great warm ups, there are six sections: Flowers & leaves, Plants, Faces, Lifestyle, Still life and Celebrations.
You don't need to start with Flowers & leaves and go chronologically through the book. Instead, after doing the warm up, flip to whichever section interests you best and start from there. I like how Heinke Nied starts each section with an easier line drawing, then progressively the drawings get more elaborate and detailed.
I felt so much more confident in my line-drawing after going through this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this advanced reader copy.
This book is best read when you're feeling curious, because believe me, you'll surprise yourself with how much fun you're having.
THIS IS MY KIND OF ART! From my favourite doodling patterns to my best art ever (just kidding not!), I find my best art teacher here in this compilation!
Best guide book ever! Who would have thought that guidebooks like this would ever exist?!
I am so glad Quarto Publishing Group is covering all kinds of art styles and art forms year after year. I never expected one like drawing art guidebook ever but now it’s happening and it’s the absolute best!
Do Check This Book Out!
It feels like home. No complications. Just simple one like art. In all its utter glory.
Thank you, Walter Foster/Quarto Publishing Group, for the advance reading copy.
When I was a kid, I liked one-line pictures. I can still make a swan. This book by Heinke Nied has taken these drawings to the next level. You will find a lot of inspiration here, you can decide to draw anything. The book will give you positive motivation. And the drawings will simply look great.
Thank you to NetGalley and Walter Foster Publishing for a free digital review copy. This is my honest review.
Create your own one-line drawing Heinke Nied, university lecturer, illustrator, and one-line-artist reveals her passion for drawing in her book: "15-Minute Drawing: One-Line Drawing. Learn to draw florals, portraits, and more using a single line!", published by Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster. Nied reveals her passion for drawing with this book and states: "In this book, I show you how to create your own one-line drawings step by step and then turn them into complete, polished artwork—in just 15 minutes! For me, one-line art isn’t just a trend but rather a totally new form of drawing and an artistic representation of my surroundings I wish you much joy with one-line drawing!" (p. 5). Nied gives an explanation for One-Line-Drawing, the possibilities it offers and underlines that it is more than an exercise (e.g., it enhances the observational abilities, see p. 5-6). She presents various topics such as "Flowers & Leaves", "Plants", "Lifestyle", or "Celebrations" with multiple step-by-step exercises. Furthermore, she points out the need for keeping a sketchbook in order to improve one's skills. The book also contains an inspirational gallery and Nied classifies the exercises with a "difficulty scale". Both are really helpful. I highly recommend the book for artists who are interested in one-line drawing may they be beginners or advanced ones who are looking for more inspiration. The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #15-MinuteDrawingOne-LineDrawing #Netgalley
As someone who never leaves the house without a small sketchbook in my bag, I jumped at the chance to get a peek into "15-Minute Drawing: One-Line Drawing'' by Heinke Nied. I use my book to jot down inspiration when it comes to me as I can't always rely on remembering later. I don't draw well at all, (hello, inner critic!) but I've recently found that a simple sketch with a black line can come to life beautifully with some added watercolor. I've also recently been introduced to "fodder" which I love to make and cut out for my junk journal pages. This book is a wonderful guide to making these design elements.
This book is full of inspiration for all, divided into subject sections and breaks those drawings down into 3 levels of difficulty. We are not talking full out scenes, but single designs to inspire and get you started with your sketch. I particularly liked the section on plants and profiles and plan to practice on these areas to improve my skill set. While these are simple designs, they, like anything else, will require practice to increase your comfort level.
Many thanks to Quarto Publishing Group-Walter Foster Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC. All opinions expressed are authentically my own.
This one-line drawing book is outstanding in every way. The author gives the reader clear, easy to understand, step by step instructions/illustrations on how to complete a wide variety of one-line drawings in 15 minutes.
Chapters include background information on one-line drawing; tips; tools and materials; and how to warm up the wrist. Drawing examples include chapters on flowers; plants; faces; lifestyle; still life; and celebrations, with each section containing work of three different skill levels.
The concept of one-line drawing fascinates me, and the idea of trying it myself was irresistible. I found attempting to duplicate the drawings to be fun and very relaxing. What a wonderful way to clear your mind of the troubles of the day!
This book gets five stars from me. It would make a wonderful gift for others or for yourself. The author says her motto is "live creatively". I'm so happy she shared her love for this art form with us and showed us how to do it ourselves!
My sincere thanks to Walter Foster Publishing for permitting me to access a DRC of the book via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own and are freely given.
I chose this book because I adore line art. Thank you to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing for granting me access to this Advance Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review.
I have no artistic skills to speak of, but this is one form of drawing I just had to try. The author made it so easy with an introduction to line art, an explanation of what tools and materials would be required, and warm-up exercises.
The book has different sections such as flowers, plants, and faces. Each section also has three different levels of drawings according to your skill level. I'm still at level one, but I look forward to improving the craft. With the step-by-step guides, it won't be long until I am level three.
There is an inspiration gallery with various images to practice, and Heinke shows you how to add even more beauty to the line art with watercolour.
If you love art, sketching, drawing, line art, or even doodling, this book is for you. Not only is it gorgeous, but it's easy to follow and an absolute joy to learn with.
Everybody doodles don't they? So why not turn those random squiggles and lines into some beautiful one line drawings?
This is a whimsical little book with quirky titles like "A Cup of Calm" (coffee), "A Pleasant Evening" (wine), and "Home Sweet Home" (a pineapple). There are chapters on drawing flowers, plants, faces, lifestyle, still life, and holiday themes.
There are some warmup exercises to help you get your muscles used to drawing spirals (just like old fashioned handwriting classes!), wavy spirals, and something that looks like random lines. The illustrations show how you can overlay watercolor to create some really aesthetically pleasing line art.
I was thrilled to receive an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster, and will gladly purchase this for my collection of drawing books!
I chose this book because when I lead groups or classes I like to add an artistic element that group members can learn and use at home. This 15 minute one line drawing instructional book is straightforward, approachable, and user friendly. I appreciated the tip about warming up your wrist to prepare for more detailed one line drawing. This is a technique I will use in my practice as a group facilitator. The illustrations are lovely and I enjoyed the inspirations at the back of the book, as well as the finishing details the author added to each one line drawing.
I received an ARC courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. The opinions are mine.
I had so much fun reviewing this book, I have 2 daughters, one will be 15 and one will be 18 soon , so I thought maybe this will be something that we could do together because we love to draw.
So as a good mom I decided I would try first and I love the details in this beautiful book. I love the step-by-step instructions Teaching you each technique because I am a very visualized person I have to see in order to do.
I feel this book can be for a wide range of ages, Because it is very well laid out and again, there are pictures showing you step by step And she also gives you instructions in writing.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a creative book! It has different ideas organized by section for drawing pictures using only a single line. There's instructions on where to start your drawing and how to move so that you never have to take your pen off of the page. There's also some instructions on how to decorate or color your drawing, but those are more high-level. The book has different drawings labeled from easy to hard so you can learn more about how to create drawings in 15 minutes with limited pen strokes. It's a cool book for artists or anyone trying to draw more!
I chose this book as I love doodling and have a BuJo that I feel would look cute with some fun little one-line drawings. There are 6 different sections within the book - Flowers & Leaves, Plants, Faces, Lifestyle, Still Life and Celebrations. The examples provided within all sections are easy to follow then gradually get harder towards the end of the section. I think with a bit of practice you could really get good at one-line drawing following this book. I would love to own a physical version of this book so I could trace and follow some of the guides until I feel more confident attempting them on my own. I'll be adding this one to my wishlist!
It's amazing what you can depict with just one line. Nied's book is a step-by-step guide to get you started in drawing a number of different images from flowers to faces. Even those who claim they "can't draw" can follow along to create their own pieces. Practicing just a few of these line drawings also gives you confidence to add something new or different to make the final product your own. This is probably a book that is better for folks new to art and people who want to try their hand at something they've never done before - if you like a minimalist approach, this is a great book to pick up.
This is such a fun book! Heinke gives a very brief introduction and warmup section and then shows how to do continuous line drawings of plants, flowers, faces, holiday designs, and whimsical things like coffee cups and butterflies. You can add watercolor elements when you’re done if you like. They are pretty easy to follow along with but look really great. Even kids or people who don’t think they can draw could follow along and be pretty successful with practice. Well recommended.
I read a temporary digital copy of this book for review.
I actually really enjoyed this. I was a bit skeptical going into it as I normally don’t read or utilize art “how-to” books but this one was different. The cover is beautiful and jumped out at me. Then once I started looking at its contents it inspired me to actually try. I enjoyed that there were warm ups to get into the idea of leaving the pen on paper. I love that it’s broken down by category of topic and within each category there are different levels of difficulty. I also felt like I didn’t not need to work from cover to cover and it was okay to jump around.
A quick and easy book with nice and easy exercises on how to start one-line drawing. Many examples on how to draw flowers and leaves, plants and pots, faces and other items like food, fruits and celebrations. I think it’s a very nice gift to give to anyone who likes to draw because this adds another dimension to the way you can draw. I already have someone in mind who might enjoy this book! I received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and I am grateful for this opportunity. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This inspirational book makes one-line drawing seem easy. I can't wait to give it a try. Heinke Nied provides a list of materials, warmups, and divides the book into sections: Flowers & leaves, Plants, Faces, Lifestyle, Still life and Celebrations. This is a lovely book for anyone who likes to draw as a hobby, or who wants to keep an art journal. I am thinking of buying it!

I've been into one-line drawings and have always found them interesting, so I was excited to read this book. I really enjoyed this book and practiced every single one-line drawing in the book. I love that the one-line drawings are labeled based on their difficulty level, and I liked that the book is separated into sections such as holidays, flowers, etc. I also really loved that this book's target is for both beginners and people who know how to draw.
*Thank you, Netgalley, for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review.*
This is seriously fun to try. I never did one-line drawing before, but I saw it on social media and was excited to try it. It starts out simple, so everyone can follow and it gets progressively harder. My drawings didn't look much like the book, but it was to try. :)
The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. And the book itself is so pretty! A fun book to have and learn from.
15-Minute Drawing: One-Line Drawing by Heinke Nied was a lot of fun! I own quite a few drawing books, as it's something that I always want to get better at. This was my first experience with using a single line to draw, and it was very cool. The step-by-step visuals were great, and my final product wasn't too bad.
Thank you Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group-Walter Foster for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this book! It is filled with useful and encouraging tips for any beginner artist, and it also goes in depth for those who need more inspiration and more encouragement to succeed in single line drawing which seems to be a different form of art on its own. This is something I’m getting a print copy of once it is published and keeping it as a Christmas gift for my (drawing-obsessed) daughter. She will LOVE it.
I really love the aesthetic of one line drawing and was completely drawn to this book when I saw the cover. The book takes you step by step through each drawing and shows you how to achieve the end result. The instructions are easy to follow and the entire book is aesthetically pleasing. I can't wait to try this out and think it will pair beautifully with watercolour.
Thanks to Net Galley and Quarto Publishing for the advanced copy.
I am no great artist, but I do like to doodle, and my bullet journal could use some art. This book gives easy instructions, step-by-step pictures to follow, and even a 1-3 tier of difficulties. I like that there are a lot of different themes to learn from. And the last page of inspiration is just gorgeous.
Thank you to Edelweiss+ for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I have always been fascinated by one-line drawings. I could not understand how they were done so beautifully. Heinke Nied has created an easy to follow instruction book full of practice ideas and tips. Follow along with her practice suggestions to get your brain and hand used to making fluid directional changes. Plan your drawing and then create your own one-line masterpiece.
Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of 15-Minute Drawing: One-Line Drawing by Heinke Nied in exchange for an honest review. This is a very informative book that teaches line drawing, which I always wanted to learn. There are a few of the pictures that I really liked and can't wait to practice.
This was a fun and enjoyable read. Lots of doodling exercises and ideas that are grouped by themes and designed for readers with little to lots of experience / drawing skills. I am falling in love with one-line drawing!
The parts that I find most appealing are the cactus and human portraits.
