Managing Your Emotions: Daily Wisdom for Remaining Stable in an Unstable World, a 90 Day Devotional

Rate this book
Learn to rule your emotions before they rule you with #1 New York Times bestselling author and renowned Bible teacher Joyce Meyer.

The highs and lows of life bring many challenges, and our feelings want to swing accordingly, like an emotional roller coaster taking us from one extreme to another throughout the day – if we let them. Our emotions serve a purpose, but if we allow them to dictate how we choose to act, we lose our peace and stability, which only leads to confusion, anxiety, anger, and a host of other unhealthy attitudes. It’s a dangerous way to live and can cause us to make bad decisions that impact ourselves and others.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. The Bible contains wisdom to help you learn to manage your emotions each day, no matter what challenges life brings your way. And with this 90-day devotional, you’ll discover how to take charge of those fickle feelings before they take charge of you!

Out of all the devotional books I’ve read so far, this one is my favorite!
Sometimes I struggle to find the meaning in unfamiliar or difficult verses but Joyce Meyer’s devotions helped me overcome this. I really enjoyed the short prayers at the end of each devotion and felt myself closer to God after each time I put this book down.

In Managing Your Emotions, Joyce Meyer has written a brand new 90-day devotional to help readers to combat their emotions and not allowing them to run wild. Joyce explained how readers can live beyond their emotions and we can choose ahead of time what our tone for the day will be. This book is geared to help you make good choices. She used Deuteronomy 30:19 as a reminder on the importance of life and death, blessing and curses, and how we get to choose. Each day contained a verse, a short story and teaching, and a prayer.

One of my favorite days discussed how the handle emotions when we are under pressure. She explained how when we want to test something we put pressure on it to see how it works and what it will do. God does the same thing. Often times, He will allow us to encounter situations and challenges that will require us to pass the course before we can move on. She shared an example about being tested in integrity. A cashier could accidently give us back more change and we are being tested to see if we will return it or keep it as a gift. Another test could be waiting for a table at a restaurant and we get to choose to get frustrated and rude or wait patiently. She clarified how in God’s tests we don’t fail. We instead will just keep getting retested until we pass what He is trying to teach us. We can have the right mindset that we will pass this test and focus on what He is trying to teach us.

Another favorite was about keeping our love warm. This day discussed how lawlessness will be more present and how the love for others will grow cold and this will happen near the end times. We will also see an increase in wars and rumors of wars, famines, and other calamities. If we aren’t careful, we can become to focus on ourselves and lose the call to action to love others. If we allow our love to become cold, then our negative emotions will run rampant. We are call called to love one another like Christ would. The world needs to experience His love.

I would recommend this life changing book on managing your emotions to everyone who is tired of feeling out of control and they are being led by their feelings. She explained in great detail how we can discover the path to meditating on God’s written word and letting it teach us how to live and manage our emotions. I immensely loved how she covered all the different emotions in this book. There was happiness, joy, peace, love, angry, sadness, overwhelmed, and much more. She provided the knowledge and wisdom on what she has learned from God’s word and how she applied it to her own life. The devotionals are short about two pages for each day and this book is a small compact sized book. This allows it to be easily carried around.

Every day is full of emotional highs and lows. Do you know how to manage your emotions? Joyce Meyer has a new 90-day devotional book, Managing Your Emotions, that could help you do just that.

At the start of Managing Your Emotions, Meyer has an introduction explaining why she wrote the book, her struggle with emotions in the past, and how the book could be helpful to you. Then there are 90 days worth of readings. Each day starts with a Bible verse, then has a short reading related to emotions, and ends with a prayer.

Managing Your Emotions is easy to read and understand. I always appreciate Meyer's down-to-earth approach in her books. They are easy to read and easy to relate to. She doesn't come off as someone who is "above you." Rather she is a human pastor struggling right alongside you. This book is a good size to stick in your purse, briefcase or book bag since it measures roughly 5 by 7 inches in size. I have to add that I like that cover with the mix of sun and clouds/rain with an umbrella handle.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.

Managing Your Emotions” is a simple, practical devotional. Its conversational approach, with the author revealing her own struggles with emotions, is relatable and inspiring.

I’d categorize this as a devotional book that helps you grasp, stabilize, and improve your emotions and responses. It offers 90 daily devotions that include Scripture verses, a brief story, and a closing prayer.

I’ve enjoyed any Joyce Meyer book I’ve read. Her approach is gentle, understanding, and encouraging. Perfect for those seeking a bit of strength, especially during difficult or emotional times.

First Line (Introduction): If someone were to ask me to share the most important lessons I have learned as a Christian, I would certainly include the way God has taught me that I do not have to let my feelings and emotions control my behavior.

I used this helpful book from Joyce Meyer Ministries as a devotional along with my daily Bible study. It’s a useful tool for anyone who struggles keeping their emotions in check and feeling balanced. As an overly sensitive Empath myself, I found this book filled with wisdom, spiritual guidance, and direction.
After all, being sensitive and empathetic can be a gift in knowing how to compassionately minister to those who are broken and hurting. Yet one’s emotions can also become a double-edged sword, if you cannot keep yourself from being overwhelmed by the problems of those you are ministering, too. Plus, this is a great book for anyone who has experienced trauma or lives in a challenging environment relationally. Definitely, a five star read.

90 days of Joyce, guiding you in controlling your roller-coaster emotions in a very unstable world. Do you want to be stable when all he** is breaking loose around you? Joyce Meyer has 90 ways to do just that.
Fight in God's Strength. How To Love Your Life. Shake It Off. You Can Be Free From Shame. Get Out Of The Pit. Let Yourself Cry. Keep Your Hopes Up. These are just a few headers in the 90 day devotional.
Stop waking up and letting "how you feel" decide your day - let "what the Word states" dictate your emotions and feelings.
I highly recommend this 90-day devo for those who don't want to feel their way through the day but glide through with God's never-failing truths.

This 90-day devotional was one of the best I’ve read. Each day’s reading is short and fits easily into a busy schedule. Yet the readings are also impactful. They contain a Bible verse, an encouraging reflection, and a prayer. Meyer’s writing style is smooth and easy to digest. And of course the subject matter itself was really helpful, and an area many of us could use some growth. This book not only touches on our negative emotions, as you might think, but it also touches on many positive emotions. Overall this book helps the reader to make better choices with emotions from a Christian perspective. Excellent book. I highly recommend.

MANAGING YOUR EMOTIONS by Joyce Meyer had a lot of great potential for such an important topic, but I didn't love the book. I do think that some of the devotionals were better than others, however, I felt that a lot of the answers were given as prescriptions without a thought to actual application. I also felt that many sections were written off with Christian clichés. I would give this 3 out of 5 stars because I appreciated the attempt, but felt it needed more empathy, and ironically, emotion.

Very practical encouraging book

I like the fact that the author has these practical words of how to obtain stable emotional balance from her own personal experience. I would heartily recommend this devotional to anyone struggling with out of control emotions that dominate their daily lives that often lead to poor choices and that rob them of the peace and joy they long for.

This is an easy, quick read with some great gems of wisdom. Joyce Meyer offers encouraging, faith-based insights that can bring peace and mindfulness. However, the book feels a bit surface-level—more prescriptive than practical—and some parts come off as cliché. Still, it’s a worthwhile read for anyone seeking emotional grounding and peace.

Great little devotional. It goes for 90 days, and each devotional is short but packs a punch. Each one can be done in about 10-15 minutes (unless you delve deeper into the material), so it makes a nice little add-on to your current routine to provide a change of pace from what you already do.
