This is the 3rd of 4 books in The Medlov Crime Family series. I especially loved this book. Anatoly is everything - young, handsome, filthy rich, powerful, and, of course, cocky. He has evolved so much through the series. At first, he seems like nothing more than a cold-hearted killer yet you know he loves Dimitry, Royal, Anya, and his dogs beyond reason. At the same time, you realize that he is completely closed off emotionally from everyone else except his best friend, Renee, whom we first met in Dimitry's Closet. At the same time, two other African-American women, Destiny & Victoria, are vying for his attention. The author played this storyline perfectly. As Anatoly deals with the difficulties of being a young crime boss, the loss of a loved one, the revelation of a new cousin, and his mounting loneliness, your heart just breaks for him. Yet, you know he has to figure things out on his own and at his own pace. You just hope it's not too late for our young crime prince. Many of the characters we know and love, including Lt. Nicola Agosto, continue to grow and we meet a fascinating new Medlov. Once again, the editing was not up to par, but I still gave this one 5 stars because Anatoly's story stole my heart.
I was so disappointed of this book and especially of Anatoly. He has no problem being ruthless and hurting women but we never see him in love. There was no chemistry btw him and Renee, who was such a boring character. They are basically friends and it felt like Anatoly was only upset when she left bc he did not want things to change. Dmitry adores Royal; he is possessive, jealous, and a complete alpha male when it comes to his devotion to Royal. I thought that was what we would see from his son. Anatoly does not understand his father's devotion with Royal and Dmitry said he would when he fell in love but with Renee he still does not put her before his work. This story spent most of the time with Anatoly interacting with other women. I forgot all about Renee who was sprinkled into the story in between Anatoly murdering or screwing other women. I am shocked that Ms. Nelson wrote this after giving us such an awesome couple like Dmitry and Royal.
What can I say Anatoly is the man. He is the definite boss now. He really became his own man in this book with all he has gone through. All the hiccups along the way were something else. Losing his mother, gaining a cousin, deceit from women, and finally finding a love of his own in Renee. Those two were so sweet together. And that Dimitry.....wow! Anatoly is supposed to be the killer by Dimitry is just ruthless....a true mafia men. Can't wait to start the next book
I enjoyed this book. Anatoly is hot headed, street smart, loyal, sexy, and all about his business. I keep askin myself Dmitry or Anatoly? The father or the son? I haven't come up with that answer yet. Good book. I'm ready for the 4th book, to come already.
Well I'l be darn another amazing story that I zoomed through, how long do I have to wait for another one of her books? So Anatoly having to prove himself as boss of the Medlov crime family goes through a lot in this third addition to the series Lust, Jealousy, revenge, lost, and even love, but the cool thing and the best thing about this book is Dmitry having his sons back on everything, he is truly the man of this series when ever I get to a page and Dmityr's on it I'm like "dang!! here comes the real boss." His presence steals the show.
I like Anatoly's relations ship with Renee but did not love it. It seemed to come out of no where maybe if there was more background of them getting to know each other in the other two books. I'm mean they were mention in the first book being in the same room as each other when Royal threw a Thanksgiving dinner then in the next book Renne was barley mention at all and if she was, there was no connection to Anatoly. Then we come to this book and they are all of a sudden best friends. I felt like I missed that getting to know part completely like I got with Dmitry and Royal. Everything else was fantastic though, the love scenes, Victoria finally getting hers, and the added addition to the family a cousin named Gabriel being the son of Ivan. I hope he gets his own story. And last but not least my personal favorite was just more of Dmitry and Royal scenes... I love that couple.
I do have say Ms. Nelson can sure write some steamy, sexy to die for love scenes that have you wanting to read again and again, there was a couple of times I was like " he did what now? Hold up I got read that again"... Well Latrivia still seems to stay on my top list of best I/R Authors ever! Can't wait for her next book...
Is that the end? Darn it. I'm kinda in love with this series now. In Complete Reign, Anatoly is settling in as the Medlov boss, but soon recieve word that his mom has passed away. From there, things in the Medlov family getting even more interesting .... and crowded. I really liked Royal and Dimitri, but I've been enjoying Anatoly since book one. It was great to finally see him get his moment to shine; for readers to see why papa had so much faith in his boy. I think Anatoly still has a ways to go before he's as cool as his papa, but he's a cool enough dude! It was great to get so much insight into his character and I loved that even though he's been so set on how he wants to live his life and what's important to him since book one, he's begun to see the wisdom of his father's words and choices. I adore him in big brother mode! All in all, this series has been really good. I'm glad I stumbled across it. The author has really impressed me and I can see the growth in her writing with each book. I hope this isn't the last we read of the Medlov family, but if so, I'm satisfied.
I want to give this 2.5 stars just like the first but it is not allowed so 2 it is. The storyline, plot and characters are good but the execution is still terrible. The same things over again. I thought that it would improve with this book but it did not. I really think the author is messing with the readers with the amount of typos, misspelled words and just plain incorrect words. I can not believe that she is supposed to be a college graduate with a MBA. Somebody should really proofread her stuff before it is published because all of the mistakes detract from the overall story telling. Especially when you have to reread a sentence 3 times to try to unestand it (see what I mean).
Then there is just plain crazy stuff. Moments of WTF. ""I need to administer CPR," Destiny said, adjusting his head to clear his air waves." "He amerced himself in work, meeting and planning..." "What he felled to tell her was..."
If the character leaves his house to go to a club in a Maserati, how is that 2 pages later he parks his Bentley in front of the club.
Excellent. I wish I could give it 10 stars.. Did not want the book to end. I do recommend reading Dmitry's Closet AND Royal Flush for background information. i have totally falling in love with the series. I don't want to give any spoliers away, but you definitely would not be wasting your time or money with this series, THe books are not short, because if they were, you would be disappointed. Even if you don't like the mafia aspect, the story line is excellent. Every emotional is expressed in this book. This series could actually be turned into a a movie, and believe me I would be one of the first ones there. Congrats Ms. Nelson!!
my heart is just clangin' against my chest, fighting against the constriction of my throat, trying to push it's bloody way out of my mouth. to be free. out of the pure, astonishing accomplishment of this book, which was way too good, way too well, way too mother fucking fresh. please excuse my French. i swear latrivia s.nelson is smirking at those of us who shun away from her raw audacity (i keep using that word to describe her, but it's only in a ghostly, affectionate fashion) and astounding talent. she truly loves who she is and what she does and she continues to reiterate that notion with every flourishing stroke of her trusty pen. this book, this series, truly shines in its own right and remains quite original (well obviously). the suspense of this continuous plot from the previous story is highly agreeable with its bouts of devastatingly-yet-calmly-handled, cold-blooded revenge and murder, the elaborately detailed settings of persons and places--all of which are vastly set apart in race, gender and nationality, but not in feeling and emotion. these things were carried out quite beautifully by ms. nelson. and this is what made it interesting to see what kind of person anatoly would turn out to be, compared to his father, which is to say that he indeed, is his own character and not just a re-painted picture of his father. this is what will make him so memorable along with his cold-hearted-ness, his fierceness, his will, and yeah, his ability to love. as i was reading this, i became very caught up in the author's unique flair and knowledge for each of her characters' own psyche: they too, do give less of a fuck about what the status quo is on things regarding human nature, race, interracial relationships and other "oh-my" shit like that, which in fact, they don't seem to ever ponder the essence of human nature itself; they don't feel the need. well at least not like the rest of us do. it would just waste breath and time. instead, nelson's characters just live. with instinctual prowess. and they gravitate toward Happy. and they Love. and...there's nothing wrong with That. this entire series cleverly, yet honestly demonstrates that. i can't convey just how much that means to me as a writer myself.
What can I say about book number 3? It picks up from book #2. I have fallen for Anatoly. I am so glad that I read this book. I started to skip it because the cover made it look boring, but it is definitely part of the series. Also, the author mentioned that it could be a stand alone book, so I thought why read it then, it must not be important to the series.
Anatoly has taken over as boss and he struggles with so many things. He seemed so real. His struggles were understandable. He struggled with his feeling about being boss, about the women in his life, but he was still a certified bad ass!! He is fearless and that gives him a sex appeal beyond any other.
He was such an enigma to me in the first 2 books. It was nice to get into his head. I loved the way Anatoly and Renee interacted. And I laughed out loud when he went to Atlanta.
Be sure to read Anatoly's story, you will fall for him too.
I like this series, but the romance part seems secondary (even tertiary) in these novels. This one in particular needed a good editor/proofreader, all the errors almost destroyed the novel. I love the psychotic/violent side to both the Medlov men...don't judge me(lol). I didn't enjoy this one as much as the second, but I will finis the series with the fourth installment. It leaves a bit to be desired with the main romance/relationship not taking center stage. In this series I find myself enjoying the male leads a lot more than the female lead. Renee is lovely and I'm glad Royal became more tolerable as the story line has unfolded. I will say that I am wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more into The Battaglia Series by Sienna Mynx. When is that fourth book coming out by the way?
Great read! I thought Victoria would've learned her lesson but she was just as fool as she wanted to be. Anatoly seemed like he was just barley holding it all together but there was a method to all the chaos with him. I thought Destiny was going to show up or Harrison and end Anatoly's reign. Gabriel was a give away from the beginning. I thought Dmitry was going to tell him that Ivan had told him, I was hoping he was anyway. I really like Anatoly going to Georgia, the family was funny. I was hoping for more interaction with them. Even with the story being good the real action took place within the last few chapters. I was too excited when Dmitry walked down those stairs. I wanted to see the real him come out a play like he did at the ball. Good read here!
Although I did enjoy this story, I felt like it could have been better. I know.. who am I to say that, but the story felt rushed in places... especially when I compare it to the other stories in the series. I felt like there were parts missing from to Anatoly and Renee's story. There was more time spent on other topics than their relationship which was interesting for a romance novel. Gabriel was a nice addition to the family and I am glad he and Briggy got together.
Finally I am soo glad that Yuri got handled this time. It will be interesting to see how this series plays out.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Not as good as his father but still a good read. It seemed Anatoly's dad was always saving his butt, and I seriously could of used more romance in this one. Still worth a read though.
I was misled by the title. I thought this would have been based on Anatoly. To a certain extent it was. But there was also the introduction of Gabriel, the estranged child of Ivan Medlov.
What upset me the most about this was Renee & Anatoly's love story. It basically echoed Dmitry & Royal. TBH I found Royal TSTL. So yea I went in with that prejudice which in hindsight is unfair.
The character relationships are solid. Some of the plots are flawed. Unfortunately not a series that I will rush to for the next installment.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I wondered how Anatoly would mature to he job. He has grown up mentally since we were introduced to him in Dimitrys Closet. I knew he and Renee would be good together. I'm not so sure about the cousin Gabriel and him hooking up with the French maid, Brigitte. It'll be interesting to see the next steps. Will Lt Agosto going to remain a pain.
This author really knows how to weave an intriguing story. This one kept me on my toes. I wanted so badly read the book descriptions of the next books in the series so bad because I could not predict what was going you happen next. I'm glad I didn't. Definitely worth the read.
Finally we get to read about Anatoly and his life before and truly becoming boss. This was not only a story about a reunion among friends but one among family.I love that the fact we get to see inside of this family, the men specifically, and how hard that they love. The writer once again pulls you back into this series and this family so effortlessly that you get the feeling of coming home.I loved the coming together of Ana and Renee it was not only sexy but it was an adult sexy, and that's two people putting all on the table. If you have not read any of this series or added it to your collection then you are just not really reading. This is one installment in the series you can't miss and this is one family you can't help but love.I would suggest the series for your next moments of reading pleasure.
I loved this book, Victoria got just what she deserved. I loved the relationship between Renee and Anatoly and was happy they found love between the two of them. I can't wait to see what happens next.
A real riveting read, I really enjoy this series. Great storyline the pages turn themselves, the only comment I would make is the grammar, that needs to be improved, it could be transferring from print to e-book that the errors occurred. But does no extra t from a good read.
A thoroughly enjoyable story with extremely likeable characters. Well done Latrivia, could not put this book down. A Only criticism, get new proof readers, there were too many spelling mistakes which can spoil the enjoyment of the reader. Now on to Saving Anya!
And the twists, deceit, lust, love and everything in between keeps on rolling!!! I swear this series is my crack!! And even though the grammatical errors keep rolling and some scenes are juvenile and lack structure, I am still a fan of this series and can't wait to dive into book 4!
As expected, it all worked out in the end for the Medlov men, and I am glad that Dmitry and Anatoly's creativeness simmered the drama in the end. Couldn't have asked for a better ending, which is why I am confused as to the story line and stress of book 4.
We met Gabriel in this installment and boy am I glad we did. He brought another element to the plate and gave us a new avenue in the Medlov line. He was an easily loved character and even though a tiny note, I was glad we didn't have to relive Royal's nightmare every time someone new was introduced to the family. Gabriel was up to speed and fitted in perfectly. He is one of the many reasons I am going to delve into book 4 even though I am so afraid for Anya.
Technically being Anatoly's book, we spent more time with him than the other Medlov men, and once again, I am glad that this book is written in a narrative as I wanna know it all! Everything that is happening and where. It was good to also have a follow up of all the characters travelling with us from book 1.
Anatoly's mind was just as I expected it to be and he came out of the story with the same thoughts and hopes that I had for him. It was like my own little Christmas present!! :)
Renee got her spotlight and as usual, for some unexplained reason, I seem to never fully connect with the women in the Medlov men life ... maybe it's jealousy ;)
Still, I didn't hate her and even got a sense of her thoughts an actions and must say that I am comfortable with her character and believe that with these set of ladies behind the Medlov men, Gabriel included, they are and will be an unstoppable force!
We got to see the new Vor and how it has developed under the reign of Anatoly. I love his speeches and his way of dealing with business. He is more direct and doesn't hide behind anything when it's time for the truth ... basically, the man doesn't play games!
It was good to see the difference between Anatoly and his father. it helped to respect his position within the Vor and show his growth and potential. Some people were born to be bad ... Anatoly is one of them.
History was explained and a lot of things throughout the series was clarified and rectified. I feel like I am building with these characters and I am always entertained and wanting more.
So far, I am unable to pick my favorite of the series, but this one is very close. Then again, maybe it is my favorite ... so far at least.
If you can over look the unexplained Russian conversations, the many grammatical errors and constant violence, you can enjoy this one. Please bare in mind this is not a sex filled trying to be bad book. This is a bad book with bad characters who do as they please when they please. Still, you can't help but to go on their journey as it all seems so real and not at all forced.
So far, book 3 is the best in the series. I loved the way the author told Anatoly's story and showed a clear and realistic evolution of his character. Book 3 was also one of the better written of the series as far as grammer and character and story development are concerned. The relationship between Renee and Anatoly was believeable, fresh, romantic and realistic. Unlike Dmitry and Royal whom I love, Anatoly and Renee didn't have to break down as many barriers because they were friends and true confidants first. Plus, Renee wasn't as naive or clueless like Royal had been. Anatoly isn't as guarded as his father. I think what I liked most is they seemed familiar and real. It wasn't an over the top fairytale romance. It was a real friendship that developed into more which we can all relate to. I gave 3.5 stars because although I really enjoyed this part of the series the author really needs to proof read her work.Too many grammatical errors, typos and some reduntancy ruins the feel of such moments when they're intimate or having a break through. Having to reread a passage because there's a typo or the sentence just doesn't make sense takes away from the story. Also, attention to detail is key. For example, there's a part in the story when Anatoly is in Prague and meets a prostitute at a club. When he leaves his father's house, he's in a Maserati. When he gets to the club it's a Bentley. This may seem minor but when it occurs more than a few times not just in one book but the entire series, it can make connecting the dots tedious. I really do enjoy this series and the author's work as it seems to improve with each book. I cannot wait to read the final book, Saving Anya and see how the Medlov clan ends up.
