This is beloved food writer Tessa Kiros's definitive reflection on a lifetime of cooking and eating.
With characteristic generosity of spirit, Tessa invites us into her kitchen to share what she's cooking an exciting blend of new discoveries and enduring favourites that connect the threads of her life. While the Tuscan countryside has been Tessa's home for more than 20 years, her culinary influences are wonderfully her childhood in South Africa, travels to Mexico and New Orleans as a young adult, frequent visits to family in Thailand and Greece, all overlaid with a growing appreciation for lighter, more grounded plant-focused eating.
This quintessential collection of more than 150 new recipes is accompanied by Tessa's personal reflections and favourite food memories. Longtime fans will rejoice in her best work yet, and aspiring young cooks will quickly discover how and why she has redefined the modern cookbook.
Part memoir, part travel guide, part food odyssey, Now & Then provides endless inspiration for recipes that reflect Tessa's culinary past, present and future.
4.5🌟 One of the most pretty and elegant cookbooks I've ever read! The cover is completely my style. There's so much about this cookbook/part memoir that I really loved.
- Gorgeous photographs - Lists of favorite things (one of MY favorite things!) - Snippets of memories from past trips - The perfect layout (including font and paper thickness of the book itself, which is always important to me)
If only this book had more vegan recipes, it would be the ultimate cookbook for me. There are around 5-10 recipes that I'd like to try or could use vegan substitutes, so I was happy about that.
I must check out more of her cookbooks. This one was a joy to read and flip through! Many thanks to my friend Carla for sharing this cookbook on Instagram!
This collection of recipes feels like a cookbook but also like an art piece of sorts, there is so much care in all the details, I love the idea of dedicating chapters to recipes from places that have been significant in Tessa's life. I think this is a dreamy cosy work, it makes me want to whip out cakes, homemade pasta, tortilla soups and coconut and like chicken leaf wraps! It offers so much variety and is overall really enjoyable to flip through, and visually pleasing. It's dreamy, varied, and perfect for anyone who loves recipes with a story behind them.
This book is an absolute gem. Definitely one of my new favorites out of Tessa’s books. It’s filled with recipes from all over the world that Tessa has collected throughout her life and what she is cooking now - it makes you want to dive in the pages and be immersed in these beautiful pictures. I have already made the pecan pie - just wow. I will be getting a few copies for Christmas for my friends.
A beautiful and inspiring collection of recipes and vintage photography, along with a travel journal of places near and far. Everything Tessa Kiros touches is magical.
