I’m giving this three stars because I’m not going to finish this book. I started it because I like the British show and the book fell far short of all the things I liked about the show. I feel like it isn’t really worth my time to finish. It isn’t terrible and I don’t hate it, it’s just incredibly slow moving, little character development, and boring. It’s supposed to be a mystery and at the halfway point, I don’t even care who the murderer is, nor am I invested in any of the characters.

The first Gil Mayo and mightily disappointing. None of the clever humor of the BBC series. Plodding and dull all the way.

A little dated now but still took me a while to guess the perpetrator.

While the book was workmanlike, i certainly didn't find it gripping. The characters were only marginally interesting and the plot meandered.

I had trouble getting into this book and so had trouble following characters and understanding the ending. I did like the main character and will try again.
