I saw this at the Theatre Upstairs at the Royal Court back in 2010 and I'm only just reading it now with fresh eyes.

Kin was one of the first things I saw at the Theatre, and thank god it was because there are some questionable plays out there with the potential to put me off, I was hooked on Theatre from this show.

Even now, I had to read the play a couple of times for me to 'get it'. The play is structured going back and forth in time so can be a little confusing to read and also found it a little confusing at the theatre two but upon reflection, I think it's vital as it's a case of form reflecting the content. The nature of the girls relationship is confusing, these girls are confused. We spend the first 3/4 of the play confused, decoding behaviours and motivations, much like the girls have to do in the play.

It's a deeply moving and disturbing piece of work that demands to be heard.
