Micah and Ariel are angels and soul mates created to guard the throne room of the Almighty in Heaven. They are incomplete without each other and cannot bear to be apart. But Heaven is under attack and the forces of Hell have a plan to separate them -- by putting them together.

Using an infernal sword called the Reever, Lucifer, Prince of Demons, strips the souls of the doomed angels and sends them down to Earth to live as humans. But the moment they come together again in love and passion, they will be free of their Earthly forms and regain their celestial bodies. Knowing this, Lucifer plots to have them sent into the bodies of siblings -- Owen and Leah DeMarko.

Growing up with no knowledge of their origins, Owen and Leah are close until Leah suddenly blossoms into womanhood. Then, fearing his unnatural attraction to her, Owen cuts his beloved little sister abruptly out of his life.

So begins an epic struggle between right and wrong, desire and illicit love. For Owen and Leah know nothing of their former lives as angels or the war that rages between Heaven and Hell. They only know they must not give in to what they feel for each other for their love is forever...Forbidden.

Publisher's Note: Although Owen and Leah are not related by blood, because of the perceived illicitness of their desire for each other, some readers, particularly those with a history of sexual abuse or incest, may find this story disturbing.

She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

I think because of the supernatural elements, this erotic-incest-taboo book became more interesting and super HOT. I won't give away too much about the story but keep an open mind. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but you will NOT be disappointed. 😉

OOk. This is one of those incest ones between siblings. There is no warning because they're not really siblings, just led to believe they are. Regardless of if they share blood or not, they still go through all that 'I want to hump my sibling, that's so wrong' stuff. So if you like that sort of thing, this is the book for you, Evangeline Anderson really plays up the insecurity, guilt and shame with these two.

I found that parts of the story dragged on as the author tried to play up the 'will-they-won't-they' suspense. But let's be honest, we all know they're gonna so let's get on with it.

There was also an 'attack' on one of the character that helped move the plot along. I thought the attack was a little out of place and rushed and poor fitting. Maybe if this becomes a series, she will be able to add more weight to this attack with future developments by the evil people.

This book was a bit nostalgic for me. Not in the way it relates to incest (yilck. not on your life) but because of the way the characters got it on in a sort of naive, tentative way that reminded me of my high school years. They were only fooling themselves 'oh we'll just kiss' 'oh I won't fully penetrate' 'oh I won't come in you' Mmm. No you won't, you'll do the full thing, eventually. For some reason that reminds me of teenage naiveté. When you want to do something that the public service announcements and after school specials are telling you not to do. So, as a compromise you need to talk everything through and make these barriers that were made to be transcended, but you honestly believe when you say them that you'll hold to them ... but you don't. Or at least that was my teenage experience. "Only touching over the clothes, that's as far as I will go" Yeah right, Elena, for how long? Hmmm? I say your top is off within the month!

Moving right along... there is an interesting ending. It looks like we'll see these two again, and as much as I wasn't diggin' their circumstance here, I'll read the next one. I think this is the start of a very good idea for a series.

Did you read to the end? Press the like button!

I need to lobotomize my self in order to forget reading this.
Will rew soon. And OMG will I go negative on this!

Here is the rew:
So.....OMG!
This book was something else. And not in a good way.
It was just one of those things that made you want to rewrite history and make yourself never ever ever lay eyes on the text inside the book.
First I have to say that it was utter sacrilege for this book about siblings to be called Forbidden as Tabitha Suzuma -s Forbidden that was about what? Well, also siblings in love!
I have to tell you a strange thing here.
In this book the characters were not blood related like in Tabitha's Forbidden. But while Maya and Lochi never gave me the creeps these guys did! They were just eeeew! Maybe it was because the sex was just so out there! All the cunt/cock nasty talk made me cringe all the time! I was just so weird-ed out! Again-strange, because I really am rarely stupefied by things in books. Even in erotica. But this? :shudders:
Also it was pure sacrilege when it comes to religion.
God sitting in a room turning his eyes inside out or whatever was just plain strange.
But on the other hand angel eternal sex was the thing that made my omg-you-are-seriously-messing-with-religion alarm go up in flames! And the stuff that was said about this! That a persons penis can unlock a way to God….it was just gross. Low and gross. But mostly just plain wrong.

I’m not a prude nor super religious.Still, after this book I just want to go wash my brain with soap and to church so I can pray a bit.
I’m feeling super dirty here!
There are just some things you don’t make erotic novels about!

I discovered this book in my Goodreads feed, a review liked by one of my GR friends. I loved the illicitness of the story, though I have read better incest romances. This one is only pseudo-incest because Owen/Micah was adopted. Finding out that Owen was adopted made it slightly less hot for me LOL

I also liked the whole angels vs. devils fight. What was the point of opening the throne doors again? So God would know that the devils were attacking? I forgot.

This is my 3rd Evangeline Anderson read and I can say she's becoming my go-to-author for "we shouldn't be doing this" sexual tension *g*. In Str8te Boys, it was the "I'm not really gay, but I wanna bang my hot roomate/soccer teammate" variety. Picture Perfect was the "I wanna bang my step-sister" variety. And here with Forbidden, we have the "I wanna bang my sister, who's not really my sister, but I don't know that" set up.

There were so many unintentionally hilarious moments in this one...some of the justifications, like, "It's not really incest, as long as he doesn't c*m in me." Or the "I think the best way to help you get past that night when you crossed the line 10 years ago...is to do everything you wanted to do that night...right now." Even though you, as a reader, know they're not really bro/sis, this was pretty off the hook. Still, I must give it up to Anderson. I laughed and cringed at times, but as a whole, this was still another wicked hot story.

The title to this book is quite misleading. I would suggest other title, like "How much rejection can the TSTL heroine handle before impaling her gorgeous angel c*** on someone else?" or "Eternal Blue Balls, or how Owen is torn between glaring at his sister and giving her what they bvoth need *eyeroll*".
And yes, the eyeroll should really be in the title if you want the reader to know what to expect.

Let's start with the "story": Micah and Ariel, two angels who guard the gates of heaven by having sex 24/7 (seriously! that's what they do!) get killed (while having sex, obviously) and sent to earth by evil minions with an ingenious plan: By putting them in the same family and letting them think they are siblings!
Why that plan is so incredibly infernal? Because that will definetely keep the two from having magical angel sex.
Wow, that's evil. I mean, could you imagine being bereft of your magical sex partner all the while lusting for the other and imagining how incredibly magical you could be if only you weren't siblings? Yes?
Well then enter the world of Owen.
Owen is a twenty-something doctor who actually should be forbidden from working because how do you expect him to concentrate on work when all he thinks about is his beautiful, ethereal, innocent sister...?
Okay, I'll stop here, you get the idea.
Owen thinks about Leah constantly. All the time. When he works, when he sleeps, when he eats. Not a single paragraph passes without him describing at least one part of Leah's goddess-like body in loving and excruciating detail.
All of that wouldn't be that strange if he lived together with her, but no. In fact, they hadn't really talked to each other in ten years. Ten years for god's sake! You'd think that time, if not kill the love, would at least keep a person from wasting every breathing moment on ethereal titties.
At the same time, Owen is haunted by his guilt for wanting to fuck his sister because that would be, well, wrong. Which doesn't keep him from picturing said deed 24/7, duh.
Leah, on the other hand, is desperate for her brother's love. They had been so close when they were children, but now everything had changed. And she just can't understand why because they had been so close! Owen and Leah had been so close that she dedicates every sentence she forms to the closeness they lost because she (oh no!) made out with her brother years ago.
Which was totally no big deal, right? I mean, siblings do that all the time, and it's perfectly normal.
Um. Yeah. So, those two mildly retarded people meet again as Leah moves to Owens town and stays in his appartment.
Oh, flaring nostrils! Tangible sexual tension sticky with guilt! Cheesy dialogues and big romance.
But mostly just stupid ideas.
Like Leah trying to heal her brother by reenacting their previous make-out session.
If that's what you would have done, this book is for you. If you don't mind humans without brain having sex and dripping with self-denial all the while, this book is for you.
All other people who are just interested in the (oh, forbidden!) incest theme should probably just look elsewhere.

I have such mixed feelings about this story.

Firstly: I'm not easy to squick when it comes to adopted siblings, step-siblings, and the like. I love the forbidden love theme and, despite having read the disclaimer, I wasn't expecting to feel as uncomfortable as I did upon reading it.

I've read at least one of Ms. Anderson's "incest themed" books, this one dealing with a less-taboo subject of step-siblings who have only been in each other's lives for five years. I really enjoyed that one, even if I thought Ms. Anderson's definition of "what is or isn't sex" was a bit off the mark. This one encountered the same troubling attempts at defining sex. Furthermore, there were several scenes that evoked my "WTF" button...particularly when the characters, believing they were blood-related, attempted to justify nipple-sucking and making out as not incestuous.

Now, if you have a brother or sister, think about that, and tell me you didn't just make an "OH MY GOD, BLEACH MY BRAIN" face.

Even still, I kept telling myself "I know they're not related, and hey, this stuff typically doesn't bother you," but for whatever reason, I couldn't get over it. It made me so uncomfortable I attempted to put it down a few times, but like a rubber-necker, I came back for more.

Also? Religious studies books very rarely contain angel porn. At least none of the ones I read for my major.

So on one hand, I can appreciate the discomfort Ms. Anderson evoked. And the sex scenes themselves? Yeah, bring a fan...as well as a bucket for your shame, because I needed both. I suppose the best way to summarize is: if you think you can handle it, go ahead, but I wouldn't be surprised if it made you feel a little dirty...and not in the good way.

With a plot (albeit a watered down version) ripped out of Angel Sanctuary, Vol. 1, (Kaori Yuki should sue) this by the numbers erotic romance has a host of flaws. The subject of pseudo-incest is tackled without any real emotion or sensitivity so that the characters are left flat, naive and slightly comical. Their motivations are fuzzy (how does initiating sexual contact not encourage further sexual relations?), their intelligence questionable (how does sex without ejaculation not constitute sex?), and the plot nonsensical (angels having sex opens the door to the Almighty).

If I wanted my taboo/forbidden romance with a hefty slice of blasphemy I'd prefer not to have my intelligence insulted with pedestrian storytelling. These subjects were tackled better by Angel Sanctuary, Vol. 1 or Forbidden.

If you're looking for low-brow titillation at the expense of plotting, decent characterisation or world-building then this book is for you.

The review: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/v...

There is a warning in the blurb but i will reinforce it. If you are uncomfortable with the taboo of incest, this book may not be to your liking. Owen and Leah aren't related by blood, but are siblings.

The angel twain are soul mates, lovers, guardians of the throne of Heaven. Prince Lucifer has a plan to overthrow Heaven by reeving (cutting their souls from them using a supernatural sword called Reever) their souls from their celestial bodies and casting them to Earth. The only way for them to return is to reunite as lovers. But if they are brother and sister, their sexual union a taboo. How will they fight undeniable love for one another, even as brother and sister?

The plot was great! The whole twist of them really being angels/soul mates was interesting. The brother/sister taboo was handled as delicately as possible for an erotic romance. The dash of guilt and shame moved along swiftly, riding Owen long and hard (wink wink).

Once Owen's feelings for his little teen sister turn carnal he completely cuts her from his life for 10 years. When she finally returns as a fully mature adult, he excepts her and she makes him tell her the truth. Why. Why does he hate her. Their attempts at healing the past are so damn hot! Wow! I beg anyone to look past the taboo and see the excellent way the author weaves such longing into each sexual touch Owen gives Leah.

Once it's revealed to Owen and Leah their true angelic nature the story has to wrap up so the ending is swift. I would enjoy seeing a novella or perhaps another characters story. The guardian angels perhaps.

Finished reading this book a few hours ago and I'm now going to review it.
I've read some negative reviews about this book and I seriously can't see the reason of those. I loved it. I think it's one of the few books that could touch my heart and soul so deeply. I spent all the time reading the book with a lump in my throat. On the verge of tears. It broke my heart. I could feel Leah and Owen's pain - and their love - deep in my soul.
I'm not so satisfied of how it ended, but it wasn't so bad either. And it was unexpected, so a positive note. And another positive note is that it was hot. Leah and Owen's love was pure, overwhelming. But the passion between them also could not be underestimated. It was there, alright! And some scenes were oh so hot! Like, very hot!
This is my second book by Evangeline Anderson and up til now I can say I loved both. Though Picture Perfect was .... well, perfect. In fact I gave it 5 stars.
Too bad I will rate Forbidden only 4.25 stars.

Odd dialogue, but very provocative erotica.
I went into reading this book, not having a clue, what it was about, except that I actually thought it was another in the series of sci-fi erotica from EA. It isn't, by the way, or maybe it is connected, because the whole deity alien thing is interwoven in this series. In any case, the story was about a brother and sister who weren't really brother and sister, so I read most of book looking through my fingers, it did not stop me because its well written but it was shocking, until the penny dropped, which was pretty early in the story. The dialogue is what I found to be more unique than the story line, between Owen and Leah, maybe because the topic is awkward, reading it is awkward.......but it is unique and had me shaking my head, yes while I was reading trying to filter through my fingers. This book is certainly memorable, highly contrived but memorable.

Ms Anderson loves skipping along the incest line, doesn't she. I've read almost 3 similar themed books.

The basic plot remains the same. The guilt, the social censure and the shame of thinking of your brother/sister THAT way. Yes, it icks me out. There may not be a blood bond, however you are raised as siblings --> you should have sibling like feelings.

Some of the ideas are inane in logic. "He will penetrate me with only the tip so that's not incest" OR "He won't come inside me, so that is ok" The kind of naive ideology we used in high school/college to experiment and convince ourselves things are ok. NOT with siblings though.

Have read so many of her books now, I think I can tune out the ick elements & concentrate on the smut.

Not sure why this was suppose to be so taboo. The reader knows the truth from the very first chapter.

And the scenes when the two characters are together are so bad. They keep talking to each other in a way that's not at all hot, romantic, sexy, etc. I really don't understand this book.

Gave it two stars instead of one because it's well written. It's just the plot and characters that make no sense. Watch "A Life Less Ordinary". No incest but it reminded me of the movie while I read it.

Final Verdict
Meh.

I am going to ignore the sibling aspect of this book. It did gross me out that they truly believed they were siblings, and hearing them say "brother" and "sister" during bed scenes...creepy; but I was forewarned so I am not allowed to complain.

Okay, so ignoring that aspect of it, and concentrating only on plot, character, etc... I thought this book was okay. It did have a plot. What I liked about it was that it had two levels of plot, where both hinged on each other. Where what happens in one is crucial to the other.

The characters were so-so. I liked that they had flaws, and I guess they were believable. I didn't really root for them or anything.

I think what bothered me was that more could have been done and developed on the angel aspect of this story. It completely focused on the sibling side of it, that the intriguing part (the fact that they were angels) and were guards to a gate was used as a prop to the sibling plot... and not really fleshed out was a let down. Here we had constant commentary throughout the book by two side character angels, "the demons have almost breached the gate, there is no time, etc..." and when we finally get to that it was so quick and glossed over that you're left thinking, "what? now that was anticlimactic."

I thought this was going to be more than a "love story" and have supernatural angel battle scenes. I think I'm too conditioned to YA paranormal stories. I almost expect other books to follow the trend.

Ewww. This premise is creepy. Every time I read about something sexual in the book between the "siblings" and then thought of my brother, I got totally grossed out And the book is somewhat juvenile on top of the whole drawn-out incest thing
Yuck
I wish I has read this book's blurb and reviews before buying it. I bought it on the strength of the author's name alone without looking further into the book
