The Ming Method
Total pain relief with no drugs, no side effects, no surgery Fifteen-minute therapy sessions you can perform in your living room Self-diagnosis techniques to tailor treatment to your individual pain The proper hydration and supplementation for optimum health For twenty years, master pain therapist Ming Chew has treated scores of patients with his method. It doesn't mask or “manage” your pain. Unlike traditional medicine, it works by targeting the fascia, a poorly understood connective tissue, to permanently fix your underlying problem, not just mask symptoms. Hydrating, supplementing, and stretching and strengthening the fascia are the keys to The Permanent Pain Cure. The best part? A typical therapy session lasts only fifteen minutes and can be done in your living room.
Try the Ming Method yourself and reclaim your quality of life, your freedom of movement, your joy--and do it in as little as fifteen minutes a day. Your pain-free life begins today!
If you have pain in your joints this is the book for you. Follow all aspects of the methods and you will see radical improvements. At least it did for me.
I experienced daily pain in my elbows and knees for about two years. I was initially diagnosed with tendonitis and then with the initial stages of osteoarthritis. Went to doctors and physiotherapists to no avail. Read many books. Could not find a plan that worked for me. I could not beat this thing and felt discouraged.
Now the pain in my elbows is completely gone, I am pain free everyday. The pain in my knees (the worse condition) is almost completely gone with several days without any pain and some days with a very minor feelings of pain.
Still working on completing the plan but three months ago I could not do a single lunge without being a much pain the next day while now I can do two sets of 8 lunges on each legs and still feel ok. This is the only plan that has worked for me so far.
Interesting approach to pain management. The author provides detailed explanations, with accompanying photos, of stretches of the fascia. He also recommends series of stretches for particular areas of the body where you might be experiencing pain. My yoga instructor has been introducing these stretches in class. The poses/stretches are awkward and very detailed, making it difficult to get into them on your own (think of playing Twister while reading a book.) However, I do find the stretches effective. I wish the book had a more user-friendly layout, with each stretch and related photo on the same page (or two) and the series of stretches corresponding to particular body areas grouped together.
This book was of value to me because it got me to increase my daily water intake and also to start taking systemic enzymes which has helped with my chronic myofascial pain. (Helped, but not a cure.)
I'm still in the beginning phase of the program but have greatly benefited from some of the advice already. As simple as fish oil and drinking water, the next step is systemic enzymes. It sounds stupid but I was chronicly dehydrated because I suffer from interstitial cystitis and would avoid drinking fluids. It also is in line with everything I've learned from physical therapy and any other information I've read online. The suggestions he makes are all backed by scientific studies which you can easily find on Google. It looks like a great beginning to my ultimate goal of being able to weight lift again. I am feeling hopeful again after 2 years of crippling pain. I will update my review as I progress through the program.
Stretches and strengthening exercises are the. Focus; some are easy, and others are totally unrealistic for the mature woman suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Although there is some scientific research to back The author’s insistence on supplements and specialized enzymes, these are not as well-documented.... and certainly iffy...for those on heavy medication for certain medical conditions.
Short but great read! I get skeptical whenever anybody in the fitness space sells a “method” or “system” with their name attached to it. That being said, Ming Chew’s method wasn’t over-the-top and was very unique compared to what I expected. This was an easy read that I will definitely reference back to for fascial maintenance.
I have started stretching a while ago, but I think I never did it correctly. This book helped me to learn how to stretch correctly, and really stretch the muscle I want.
This book describes how healthy fascia contributes to the strength, flexibility of ligaments, muscles and joints throughout the bodyprescribes exercise regimens designed to help you maintainin and restore the health of fascia in Ming Chew prescribes various exercises for different parts of the body to alleviate your pain, correct misalignment of poor posture , and improve limited mobility. The descriptions are easy to follow and the information about the kinds of rollers and other equipment that you can use to work on the fascia to address spinal and cervical pain is useful.
I learned some of these exercises in physical therapy and felt they they were very helpful! I liked much from the book but think that the exercises would be difficult to learn correctly using the book. The Ming method is wonderful though!
Excellent recommendations on stretches and exercise. However, he seems to have little understanding of the omega 3/6 balance and its effects on pain and inflammation in the body. If he had kept away from the dietary/supplement advice I could have given it a 5 star.
