Nikki Moustaki is the author of The Bird Market of Paris: A Memoir, as well as twenty-five books on the care and training of exotic birds. She holds an MA in creative writing, poetry, from New York University, an MFA in creative writing, poetry, from Indiana University, and an MFA in creative writing, fiction, from New York University. She has received a National Endowment for the Arts grant in poetry, as well as many other national writing awards. She splits her time between New York City and Miami Beach.

I could have written a better book about cockatiels than this.

Maybe I'll start my authorific (or is that authorial?) glory right here and now.

1. Why does Lester Molester like to chew the skin on my toes?
Because he's a pain in my big toe.

2. How come those guys can do that whistling scene from The Breakfast
Club and I can't?
Because I'm a neo maxi zoom dweebie and they aren't.

3. Why does Jude always fan his tail over my eyes right before the
exciting part of a tv show or film?! Because he thinks he knows better
than the director. He DOESN'T.

4. How come they have those big orange patches on their cheeks?
They never learned how to properly apply makeup.

5. What's with the hair? They dig rockabilly fashions. Fact.
