A Witch's Book of Answers

Rate this book
An everythingyouwantedtoknow and somebody asked compendium. This book grew out of the authors OpenSesame website, where more than a million readers a year asked questions. From the most basic, like Do witches fly? to the most sublime, including How do we explain the things that happen in our lives?, A Witch's Book of Answers provides the answers answers you can apply to your life and your practice, whether you're an interested newcomer or have been practicing your whole life. A Witch's Book of Answers is widely informative and contains essential information modern witches need to know. In addition to the questions and answers that are the foundation of the book, Holland and Cerelia also provide exercises and general information throughout, including how to use visualization in magic, how to ground yourself after a ritual, and what to do if a Tarot reading predicts something terrible. Learn about covens and how to find the right one, how anger can affect magic, and the power of dream interpretation. Including an Index of Magical Workings and a glossary of Wiccan terms, A Witch's Book of Answers provides a comprehensive guide to what it means to become and live as a witch.

This book is a trove of bullet type question and answers relating to all things Witchy. My favorite has to be: "Do witches all have to wear black?" Eileen's answer, "Well, I do a lot because it's slimming..." There's also some deeply serious stuff relating to the Wiccan Rede and the myths and nonsense spoon fed to humanity since olden times. This is an excellent book for gaining an understanding about a subject that many *think* they know, but very few do.

This book was pretty intimidating as far as size, but still a pleasant read due to its layout and content. Although I felt it was aimed more toward 'newbies', there was also a wealth of info for someone with more experience. Many of the topics overlay one another, but were organized in a way that felt necessary if it were the first book on the subject that someone was reading.

Excellent for those starting on a Wiccan path, finding their way back to a Wiccan path, or with questions about what Witches think.

I highly recommend it as part of reading and researching what it means to be Wicca or Witch.

A Witch's Book of Answers is packed with over 700 answers to frequently asked questions within the Wicca community, especially those coming from beginners. While it has on the cover that this is a book for novices and experts, I have to disagree with the that. I’ve been studying for over 5 years now and I didn’t learn anything new from this book, and in fact I happened to disagree upon a lot of things they said, especially regarding working with elementals. But at the same time, it’s fantastic to see a book that houses such a trove of knowledge, and this would come in handy for both new seekers as well as those of other religions who are curious about the theology of eclectic Wicca, but not necessarily people who have studied for a while, unless you just wanted a nice refresher course. I do, however, think that this would make a great edition to public libraries, so a larger number of people could be enlightened by the non-satanic reality of eclectic Wicca.

I can't remember why I picked up this book. Filled with answers to questions once posed to the authors in an online group, this book is really geared to the absolute beginner (of which I am not). In fact, many of the answers are so common sense to me, I can't ever imagine having concerned myself with them when I was an absolute beginner many moons ago. Other answers are so slanted toward the authors' personal bias, I cringed.

I read about half-way through the book before I forced myself to skim the remaining pages for anything that remotely piqued my interested. Again, this book is for the absolute beginner, or perhaps even better suited to someone who doesn't know anything about Pagan culture or religion and wants to know more. If one has an ounce of experience, skip this and take a peak at Ms. Holland's Wicca Handbook instead.

Some really awful questions in here, but that's not the authors fault, guess someone somewhere has to ask such questions. But mixed in there are some great ones and some amazing answers. Definitely useful, but may need to do some self referencing so can find specific answers quickly.

It gives you a good insight in the Wicca ways, and a lot of questions were answered satisfactory. The only downside of the book was that a lot of questions were the same only put in a different way, and seemed unnecessary.
