It wasn't exactly the best book I've read on the subject, but it was helpful for the simplified timeline and details. Richard the Lionhearted is demonized more than I feel he deserved and Saladin was praised way more than he deserved. Richard was, in this book, blamed for all the taxes mentioned in the tale Robin Hood, even if they weren't necessarily his doing or fault. Saladin was compared to and praised more than many of the other leaders in this book even though many of the actions the other parties did, Saladin also did. Christian leaders did kill Islam followers. Saladin killed a bunch of Christians also, but when Saladin did it, it was mentioned in passing. Overall, it's war. Everyone is going to do some bad things, I don't think they have to make a "Good guy" and a "Bad guy" especially with this.
