Les rondeurs sont un bonheur ! lui disait sa mère, mais Pétra n’aimait pas l’image que lui reflétait le miroir. Elle voulait être maigre et élégante et était disposée à tout faire pour atteindre son but. La jeune éléphante qui a encore l’espoir de trouver une solution à ce qu’elle considère un problème, réalise un voyage plein d’aventures amusantes qui favorisera une rencontre très spéciale. Un point de vue optimiste pour apprendre que l’authenticité sera le chemin de la satisfaction et que les autres nous accepteront tel quel nous sommes.

Eva Mejuto é doutora en Xornalismo pola Universidade de Santiago de Compostela cun traballo sobre o realismo social no álbum ilustrado: Álbum testemuño: achegar a realidade ás crianzas. Traballou na editora Kalandraka ata 2004, en OQO Editora ata 2016. En 2017 coordina o Salón do Libro Infantil e Xuvenil de Pontevedra. En 2018 forma parte do proxecto "Capicúa de xestión cultural e proxectos".

A súa especialidade é a literatura infantil e xuvenil. Ten realizado cursos de formación sobre libro-álbum e exercido a docencia no Máster Libro Ilustrado e Animación Audiovisual da Facultade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Vigo. Participa habitualmente en encontros co alumnado dos colexios.

É autora de diversas adaptacións de contos tradicionais a álbums ilustrados, traducidos a máis de dez idiomas. En 2017 publicou 22 segundos, narrativa para adolescentes.

En 2019 publicou en Xerais Memorias do silencio, unha novela que se desenvolve en Galicia durante a Segunda guerra mundial.

Todos somos diferentes uns dos outros e temos de aceitar essas diferenças.

Petra is a sweet little elephant who wants to be thin and elegant. Her mother tries to convince her that she’s beautiful just the way she is, but Petra is completely determined to lose weight. She starts wandering what she can do to solve her problem. She even talks to a crocodile, a zebra and a snake to know what they do to stay fit, and puts every bit of advice into practice.

I related to the story right away, as I’ve been struggling with my weight since childhood. I lived Petra’s journey, and I am amazed by the way that Helga Bansch reflected this issue so brilliantly, both on the text as in her adorable illustrations.
I fell in love with Petra immediately. It’s impossible not to love her: her dedication is admirable; besides she is very friendly and kind. The end is surprising and elating!
