Can he get past betrayal?

Allison Hathoway's life was about healing. And she was good at it. Or had been good at it until the tragedy in South America. Now she couldn't even fix herself. She didn't know how to go on, didn't know what to do, or who to be.

She had that in common with Gene Nelson. After the rancher found out the truth about his father, he'd realized his whole life was a lie. He'd gone a little wild, and saw no reason not to give in to his every desire. And the minute he saw Allison, he wanted her. But underneath their explosive passion, Allison and Gene found comfort in each other's wounded souls. And a chance to start over.

This is such a sweet little book. Allison, a woman with a scandalous secret, charms Gene Nelson a rancher with a scandalous past. Gene’s wild past is a threat to Allisons reputation but their attraction is undeniable and insatiable. He is a charmer and he goes for exactly what he wants. Allison even though secretive and reserved warms his burdened heart and they find comfort in each others wounded souls. This leads to such an explosive passion.

I mean, the things this man is saying to the innocent girl! I was gasping for air. Such a little scandalous book. I loved it.

Allison Hathaway was a missionary until her parents were murdered by the rebels in the central American country they were in. She meets Gene Nelson, the brother to the man her best friend is going to marry. Both are in emotional states but find that they are good for each other.

This is a typical Diana Palmer book, written well, but storyline is a variation of her common theme of a virgin finding the right man.

Also in this book was Lonetree Rancher: Colt. It was a good story also.

Another well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Family is everything no matter how you became a member of that family. Love wins out in the end no matter what. A fast read.

How I missed this book the first time around I don't know.

Allison Hathoway's life has taken a turn that she wasn't prepared for and her faith has been shaken. She is staying with long time friends as she heals - more mental than physical.

Gene Nelson has just found out that the man that he'd always believed was his father, was actually his adopted father, and his siblings are 1/2 siblings, not full blooded, so he's taking it out on everyone and has been for the last 6 months.

the first meeting between Allison & Gene, is when he's been drinking and she is out with her friend who is engaged to Gene's brother. As soon as Gene sees Allison, his interest is spiked and his taste for drink is pretty much over, a fact that his brother notes that evening. Allison is interested, but not wanting to get involved.

Where will this meeting between the two lead to?

The second story in this book is "Lonetree Ranchers: Colt" by Kathie DeNosky

The last time Kaylee Simpson saw Colt Wakefield, had been after her brother's funeral a few years before, they had a night together and Colt left without saying or leaving a word; never knowing that he'd left Kaylee pregnant. The story of how they are trying to work things out is typical, but interesting. There are a lot of details about rodeo for those who've never been to one or watched it on tv. Read & see what happens.

The second story in this book, Colt, (written by Kathie Denosky) was by far my favorite. I'm a sucker for daddies and their little girls- every time.

Kaylee's brother and best friend of Colt died tragically in a rodeo accident. Seeking to outrun their grief, the two find comfort for a night in each other's arms. Shaken by the passion he feels, Colt bolts from Kaylee's life. He unknowingly leaves her pregnant and broken-hearted.

Two years later, their paths cross again. Colt knows immediately that he is the father of Kaylee's little girl. In an attempt to form a relationship with his daughter, he moves both of them to his ranch.

It's not hard to imagine what happens next... trust and respect build between the two as they bond over their child. Trust leads to forgiveness over past hurts, and forgiveness leads to (ahem) certain activities in bathtubs and in front of the fireplace.

Yeah, it gets pretty steamy.

The story is short and fluffy, heartwarming and passionate at the same time.

I have enjoyed some of Diana Palmer's work in the past, but I wasn't exactly thrilled with Nelson's Brand. Having found out it was originally published 20 years ago helped make some sense of why it felt so absolutely terrible. Helpless women who downright refuse to speak up and put themselves and their lover in a horrible position and an egotistical brooding Alpha male are not my preferred content. Not even when I've got my nose stuffed in one of my oldest, guiltiest pleasures: Harlequin novels. I can't even count how many I've read, or remember them all, but I do know I can only remember being this irritated by a couple once or twice before. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the characters. I just think they behave like children too often to be acceptable. And the plot just didn't encourage me to turn the page that well. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great, either.

Frankly, I enjoyed Lonetree Ranchers: Colt much more. And I plan on giving it a much better review.

In Nelson's Brand we have the 'bad' boy interested in the 'nice' girl. The nice young woman has been brought in an interesting family dynamic that has adversely affected her when her parents are killed. She comes home to regroup and recoup with a close friend. Meanwhile our male character has sown his 'wild oats' and is quite interested in our young woman. But is he as bad as people believe? In Lonetree Ranchers: Colt we get treated to a young woman who is raising her daughter alone (her choice) and our male character (the father) is injured while the young woman is in attendance at a rodeo. Since there is already a connection between these two characters the situation becomes interesting when our cowboy finds out he's a father.

Nelson's brand was about how Allison went to her friend Winnie to hide, heal and keep her health. She became involved with Gene, a part of the family or was he? They both were hiding unbeknown to the other. you will read right to the end to find what Nelson's brand was-a good beach read!
Lonetree Rancher-Colt was an excellent story. Kaylee had Colt'sa baby but he didn't find out for a long time. Would they become a family or forget about the past?

1st book - Allison Hathoway and Gene Nelson were two wounded people who met. Allison with a tragedy in South America and Gene who just found out his llfe has been a lie. Between them, they end up healing each other and have a chance to start over.

2nd - Lonetree Rancher - Colt finds out that he has a daughter that he was never told about and desperately wants both her and her mother Kaylee in his life.

This is a 2 story book. The first one is Nelson ' s Brand by Diana Palmer. They one is a 1 * read for me. The writing was too amateurish and they were far too many "eye rolling" moments for me.
The second story was Lonetree Ranchers: Colt by Kathie DeNosky .This one was about a 3 *** read for me. The writing was a bit better than the first book and not quite as many eye rolling moments but I'm not sure I would purchase a book by this Author again .

Two books in one. First: Diana Palmer's Nelson's Brand. I always enjoy Diana Palmer but this lacked some of the usual thrill. It seemed rather hurried and cutesy. Second was Lonetree Ranchers: Colt. Cute story! Again was cute, but a little too predictable and moving too fast for having that many years separated between the two characters. I enjoyed both books, and they were quick reads.

Nelson's Brand was very typical of a Diana Palmer story but I still enjoyed it.

Lonetree Rancher: Colt was a new author and series for me and I also enjoyed that story, probably more than the Diana Palmer story just because it was something different.

Bonus Book
Lonetree Ranchers: Colt (Lonetree Ranchers #3) by Kathie DeNosky

All it took was one glance at the toddler in Kaylee Simpson's arms for Colt to know the two-year-old was his. Duty demanded that he do right by mother and child so he swept them off to his ranch to set up house.

Trouble was, spending day and night in such close proximity with beautiful Kaylee made the rodeo heartthrob realize that she still stoked his passion and commandeered his dreams. Although Kaylee resisted her attraction to him with all her might, he knew he'd do almost anything to win her trust and claim her as his own, once and for all!
