Jake and Kat's Story . . .
Jake, a police Enforcer, was on a self-imposed stakeout, not for a notorious offender, but for a feisty, scruffy, ill-tempered little kitty cat he had been watching out for. He had built an animal trap to catch her and, after 6 months of feeding her, he knew all her favorites to use for bait this time. She was a survivor, he respected that, and he wanted her for his pet to keep her safe and fed – and even more, to have her to talk to. As the trap door slammed shut, he waited out the temper of his little wildcat, Katarina.
The world had changed and times were difficult. Kat lost her job and her boyfriend tossed her away since she had no other use to him. While she hangs out in the evening around high class restaurants for food, she attends business school in the daytime. Kat is a shifter, fallen on hard times at the moment. But she was angry that she let her guard down around the kind man who had been feeding her. Why did he want her now? She would never trust a male again… but she had just gone into heat that morning and ignoring him was not easy. When she thought he was asleep, she partially shifted her paw back to human and unlocked the cage. Shifting to human, she decided to get a little revenge on the cop and located his handcuffs. When he woke, cuffed to his bed with a naked woman looking down at him, she would take care of her hormone issue. And he actually didn’t seem to mind that she had tied and cuffed him to the bed. The next morning, however, she was gone!
Life was good with Jake. He was friendly, fed her, and knew all the good spots she loved to be scratched. When he came home early and saw the human stranger again, he wanted to know how to get in touch with her since he hadn’t been able to find her after their first time together. But she firmly told her a committed relationship was out of the question. He had tied her to his bed with silk scarves while he went to get them drinks. He would get answers this time. But when he returned, she was gone… only Kitty was snoozing on the couch. Would she finally decide to tell him what she is? Would the truth upset him? Or would they both already know each other so well that it wouldn’t feel right without each other?

Kat, the female cat shifter, has been living primarily in her cat form since her ex tossed her out when she lost her job. Jake, the male human law enforcement lead, sets a trap for the pretty stray he’s been feeding, anticipating acquiring a pet. When he wakes up cuffed to his bed with his own cuffs, he’s shocked but aroused by his visitor, who seems a bit familiar…
This short story is dual POV, well written, and a really fast paced, unknown identity romance. I enjoyed and was amused by Kat’s initial indignation at Jake’s actions and enjoyed the way she came to care for him. I enjoyed Jake’s inherent gentleness and his bedroom dominance that wasn’t threatened by their initial bedroom meeting. I wanted more and was sad to reach the end.

This was a fun and steamy short story and I got quite the kick out of the plot. Kat, a shifter gal that's been mostly living in her cat form due to loss of job and home, gets caught by cop, Jake, who was looking forward to owning a pet... This story is told in dual POVs and was very entertaining with the lack of Jake knowing just who he caught - and that his mystery lover were one and the same ;P There was some drama added in to keep things hopping and I loved how much was packed into such a short read. All great fun and an entertaining addition to this multi author series :D

I enjoyed this story by Anne Kane. I only wish it was longer. I enjoyed the interactions between Jake and Kat. Jake is an Enforcer who has been feeding a stray cat for weeks. He finally decides to make the cat his pet and captures her. He just doesn't realize that she is a cat shifter. Kat has been living on the streets for a while now. She didn't want to be captured but after a time starts to enjoy the safety of Jake's home. What will happen when Jake discovers that she is a cat shifter?

A fun hot little read!

Poor Kitty Kat...not sure if it was my run of crap books that got this one the low rating, or the poorly developed characters and involuntary gagging that I couldn't quite suppress.

This is a hot yet funny novella about a massive (aren't they all?) cop from the future who has a gentle side, so decides to adopt a stray cat he has been feeding scraps to in the alleys he patrols. All would have been fine if the cat in question wasn't a shifter named Katerina, who has to escape from the cage he trapped her in, only to have her "in heat" hormones surge into painful awareness of his nudity while he is sleeping and she is trying to sneak out. What follows involves his handcuffs and a "cat and mouse" game involving just how long she can keep her dual relationship with him a secret. He pets and pampers her kitty kat self, while lusting mightily after the hot woman who somehow keeps appearing in his impregnable home. You will be smiling as you sweat, or sweating while you smile. But enjoying it all!
