Very worthwhile reading! Practical, sensible and real actions to broaden your support base for those in Christian ministry. Let this author show you both from experience AND good wise counsel HOW to raise the needed funds for your God-given calling.
I read this book while raising $1.5 million dollars for a church planting project in large metropolitan city of South America. God honored the diligence and the personal touch that the author guides you to practice.
Read it now if you are a missionary on pre-field or a veteran seeking to find new support avenues. You will be glad you did!

Great book. The first book on raising support that I read was The God Ask and it taught me so much, but in some ways I enjoyed this book more. It's outdated for sure (I laughed every time I saw "VCR") but while The God Ask focused on the practical and Scriptural approaches to fundraising (and no doubt many of them were adopted from Funding Your Ministry) I really appreciated Scott Morton's non-salesman attitude about everything. I wish I could elaborate more on that feeling, but I'm still trying to figure it out myself.

I was approaching my, so far, biggest fundraising goal when a fellow missionary friend gave me this book and encouraged me to read it.
Speaking from the perspective of a young, female, missionary, I found this book very encouraging! In my experience, biblical fundraising is not talked about enough in our churches and missionsorganisations.
Regardless of what your organisation's approach to funding missionaries is, this book covers the ins and outs of fundraising in a biblical way. There are plenty of examples, stories, tips and guidelines. Each section comes with 'activity sheets' related to the topic. I found these very helpful as it was easy to see exactly what he was talking about and it was a practical, easy tool to adapt and start using straight away. It made it feel a bit like a work book. :) The bile study in the appendix was great and very comprehensive. I've been able to use that as a reference point many times already.
All in all this book may have an 'old school' feel to it, but the principles remain the same. I would love an updated version with chapters on social media, digital newsletter etc... as I believe more and more fundraising options are becoming available online, and it can be a jungle to navigate. For this reason I can't say I totally agreed on everything in the book, times have changes since this was written. But even so I found it very helpful and will for sure be reading it again sometime.

This book is a wonderful source of encouragement and provides a good attitude adjustment for those missionaries (like myself) who are support raising. As the deadline of July 27th approaches to reach becoming fully funded slowly comes closer I have been blessed by this book and some of the testimonies within that glorify God and His ability to provide. I highly recommend this book and that it be read both before and during a time of support raising. It is also a good book for those interested in both how to support a missionary and why some missionaries support raise to begin with.

It is in the same mold as The God Ask. I didn’t like that book much. This one was slightly better. Near the beginning he points out the importance of prayer and understanding faith through the fundraising process.
The issue I’m having is that, it seems, no books about the ins and outs of fundraising is aimed at a theological and intellectual level. They are aimed at our emotions. Maybe some people are more motivated by exclamation marks. They have the opposite affect on me.
The few pages that were helpful, were profound. But the rest of it didn’t do much for me.

This is a must-read for anyone who raises support for all or part of their job. Gives a good Biblical basis for support raising, as well as very practical do’s and don’ts for any situation you might find yourself during the process. It’s been extremely helpful for my husband & I as we work to come together in ministry: Support raising, writing prayer letters, how to (or not to) communicate to partners, etc etc. Thumbs up.

If you are looking to fund your ministry, this book is incredible. I served as a missionary for 7 years with this book on hand. It helped change the perspective I had on support raising and I never looked back. I encourage anyone looking into ministry that requires support raising to get this book and follow it. It helped me in wonderful ways.

This book did a good job of mixing practicality into a biblical theological basis of fundraising for the person going into vocational ministry. Some of the tactics and strategy were outdated due to the timeframe of authorship, but the principles remain the same. A good read for anyone approaching a season of fundraising.

This is a great book on funding your ministry. Mr Morton's ideas are helpful and I didn't feel talked down to as I have when reading other fundraising books. We will be implementing many of his ideas as we move forward with our next round of fundraising for our ministry.

Does exactly what it says it will do. It is a good read and very practical tips. This, the spirituality of fundraising, and the god ask should be must reads for everyone in ministry to keep the vision in front of them.

Fairly good. Definitely helps on the boldness aspect. Very American driven, and not as applicable in the careful and discreet Canadian culture.

I read this book before....and it is time to pull it out again as I look to the Lord for courage to hit fundraising hard. "The ball and chain book," as I have heard it affectionately labeled, is great at reminding me of how and what I'm asking for when raising support. It's encouraging in the word's true definition--bringing courage to my heart and to "my feeble arms and weak knees," and calling me to action over something the Lord has asked of my life right now. I most definitely recommend it to those who are fundraising. It's helped in the Lord changing my mind in a few of my convictions on fundraising and it's helped me to really develop a foundation for what I believe about fundraising before I hastily act. It's revealed a lot of ridiculous things that I will do if I'm not trusting the Lord for what He can do through my asking.

I didn't enjoy this book too much, mostly because my nerves are just about shot and I'm having a hard time concentrating on anything but conquering my fund raising fears. This did help with some of those, though, and the bible study in the back, though somewhat confusing and oddly organized for my taste, helped as well. I loved all the little cartoon pictures.

Incredible. Teaching I wish I had read 3 years ago when I became a missionary. I believe anyone expecting to raise funds for Christian ministry can benefit from this book, and anyone who has questions about biblical finances for missionaries would benefit from consulting the Bible study in the appendix.

This book does very well in laying the groundwork for biblical, financial support for missions. I'm not good with the idea of asking for money for any reason, and this book shrunk those fears for me. The book didn't speak directly into my situation, but gave some good guidelines to pursue in raising support.

This book completely changed my views and heart on support raising as a missionary. Practical, incredibly helpful, not vague or heady in any way. I love the Bible study included. My advice to readers: don't skip any of it! Do the worksheets included and the study. Try the tactics suggested. Most useful missionary fundraising book so far!

Very straightforward advice. I think it is more aimed at those who are currently in ministry and have donors already. Still, it was helpful as a new missionary who is just starting out to hear about what works and what doesn't.

Excellent resource for being introduced to, planning and implementing the concept of fundraising your ministry. This is especially timely given the missional nature of ministry in the neighborhood and city we serve in.

This is a must read for anyone who is in ministry, or just wants to do some fundraising! It has so many important lessons as well humor in their side notes. It has totally changed my view on fundraising and encouraged Andrew and I.

Book started out well. The first few chapters are very helpful to opening a view of Gods thoughts on providing for His mission. The book goes a little down hill from there. Lot of time spent on cold calling and direct mail which are all but extinct at this point.
