Elisabetta Dami is an Italian author that currently resides in Italy. She is the author of the Geronimo Stilton series, a bestselling childrens book. This is one of a series of books by Geronimo Stilton, a mouse who lives on Mouse Island and is the editor of The Rodent’s Gazette. As you would expect of a book set in a rodent universe it is full of cheese, rat and mouse based jokes, so if that’s your thing, this may be the book for you. Personally, I did not find the humour funny or the tail engaging. The hero of the story was a publisher and newspaper editor, which did not seem imaginative enough for the audience. His business was sabotaged, for a reason that is never entirely clear, and with the help of a sales rat and a sadistic game show he attempts to rescue his publishing enterprise. I did not enjoy this book and would not recommend it.
While the story was not traditionally child friendly, the typography and illustrations were however interesting and did well to help retain the reader’s attention. Several words in every page were highlighted in inventive and relevant ways and illustrations were well placed and accurately reflected the story.
I have read many Geronimo Stilton books (not all of them all the way through). This one was not my favorite- and that’s my adult opinion- my boys enjoyed it.
Geronimo Stilton books are all clean with storylines of Geronimo going on an adventure (most of the time that he’s scared to do). The only downer in these books is the times they name call, especially Trap and Geronimo. Also, they are very similar phrases throughout all the books that can grow old (for adults apparently because my kids want to keep reading).
There was a lot going on here. A mysterious rat taking all of Geronimo’s customers, the return of an old friend, an appearance on a fur-raising game show, and a art gala. Very busy, but entertaining as always.
The mysterious one eyed rat was trying to put the Giselle a newspaper business out of business but not for long because Geronimo Stilton was going to save the day. So he played a dangerous game show where if you guess a question wrong you lose your tail and if you won he was going to win $1 million which is going to save his business he won. Geronimo needed to make sure that the one eyed rat wasn’t going to try his plan again. Therefore he went to go talk to him he soon figured out that he didn’t go to college and he didn’t actually know how to run a newspaper business but he had good visions. Soon he partnered up with Geronimo. That’s how Geronimo save his business the moral of the story is don’t give up.

Miss 5 listened to this by audiobook and enjoyed it so much that she asked for another. (After we listened to all of the audiobook Geronimo Stilton's that we could borrow, we started buying and borrowing the physical books; it helped that she was already very familiar with the characters and their quirks).
Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
We're so delighted that you read "Watch Your Whiskers, Stilton!" by Geronimo Stilton. This story shows us the importance of being careful with words and actions. Geronimo learns that misunderstandings can happen easily, and it's important to communicate clearly and kindly. Just like Geronimo, you can remember to think before you speak and be kind in your words and actions with friends and family. It's a great way to avoid confusion and make sure everyone feels happy and understood.
Yup, this was pretty much what I expected. Annoying. Mostly bad mouse puns (and I'm a pun-lover!). It also annoyed me how much strange colourful font was used for no reason. It also seems really clear that the focus is churning out as many of these as possible, filling as much room as possible with "paratext", and selling more of these (as per the brightly coloured advertisement pages in the back of the book). Yuck, not a fan. I'd much rather recommend Wimpy Kid.
The Rodent's Gazette is at risk of being taken over by the mysterious Cheesecake, leaving Geronimo little choice but to appear on television and save the business! Dami will have young readers laughing all the way through this enjoyable entry to the "Geronimo Stilton" series. Make sure to catch your fav mouse reporter on the air!
It was a amazing book. It talked about Geronimo Stilton run out of business by a one eyed rat and he went to the mouse trap and answered every single question right, I thought that was impossible to know all the questions asked by the vampire rat!
Silly plot that made no sense. If the book shops weren’t selling Geronimo’s publications anymore because someone bought them all, wouldn’t Geronimo be making even more money?
A very commpassiotae book that is able tp teach valuable reading skills and still show elements of the real world and how there are many diffrent solutions.
