Tracked through the Woods is a captivatingly, action-packed, good read! I encourage readers who have an interest in Christian fiction, mystery, and suspense to consider reading this book.

While trying to survive and outrun the mob and an FBI mole, the main characters, Abby and Wyatt, thoroughly depended on God to protect them and Abby’s dad, Peter. I appreciated the heartfelt prayers and how Wyatt continually pointed to God, His plan, and His care for them.

There were many well-crafted twists that created an atmosphere of constant tension.

In this book by Laura Scott, we discover a captivating blend of tender romance, pulse-pounding action, captivating mystery, and unshakeable faith that comes together to create a fully satisfying and unforgettable story.

I received an eARC of Tracked Through the Woods from Harlequin - Romance and NetGalley. I am neither obligated to write a positive review nor compensated for doing so. These words truly convey my assessment and authentic sentiments about this wonderful Love Inspired Suspense novel.

FBI agent Wyatt Kane tracks Abby Miller as she seeks her FBI informant father, Peter Miller, near Amish country in Wisconsin. She and her father have been on the run for eighteen years but have recently gotten separated. After missing her father, she and Kane team up when someone shoots up her car. Together they face lawmen, traitors, dirty cops, and hitmen to find her father before the hitmen do.

I'm not sure why this book wasn't too appealing to me. The plot was fast paced. I think the characterization seemed a little flat because it was sandwiched between two books that I found more compelling. I have enjoyed other books by Scott and plan to read more by her. I appreciate that there was no sex, but a careful romance, and no bad language.

Tracked Through the Woods by Laura Scott is a run-for-your-life story from start to finish.

Abby Miller is trying to find her father, who has been on the run from his mob family. But FBI Agent Wyatt Kane also wants to find Abby’s father so he can prove there is a leak in the FBI. Wyatt finds Abby and the two run from gunmen who seem to find them at every turn. The pair hunts for clues to put the bad guys in jail before they strike again.

I love run-for-your-life stories. This one is fast paced but there’s plenty of time to get to know the characters. Abby has a lot of spunk and isn’t a damsel-in-distress. I love how Wyatt protects her but she steps up when he needs back up.

Definitely check out Tracked Through the Woods for a fast and exiting story.

Abby Miller grew up living her life on the run, trying to stay one step ahead of the mob that is after her father. Now she is forced to Trust Wyatt Kane, who is her only shot to uncover the mole who put her and her father's life at risk.

A fast paced read, with an engaging and original plot. I liked how Abby is used to thinking in her feet, and has learned to rely on her skills for survival. An action packed read with likable characters, I liked how Wyatt encouraged Abby to trust God throughout their trials.

Overall an engaging and exciting read, with plenty of suspense, faith, and romance.

I have never read anything by this author but I enjoyed the suspense and romance that were woven throughout the story. I definitely had no idea who was behind all of the crimes. Following all of the crimes with Abby and Wyatt was so much fun as the puzzle pieces came together.

Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Description; i.e., the blurb …
Tags (categories) by NetGalley — Christian, Mystery & Thrillers, Romance.
My “categories”– Christian, Mystery, Amish
The first words of the publisher’s description are perfect:
Targeted by the mob…
and there’s no place to hide
(citation link) NetGalley

Abby Miller and her father have been on the run from a Chicago mob since she was four years old. Her father, Peter Miller, an alias, had been happy living among the Amish. He loved the Amish life. He loved his wife. He loved his twin daughters, Abby & Rachel. The mob was ruthless in its pursuit. Separated from her father, Abby, now grown, does not trust people, including members of law enforcement. She ends up teaming up with FBI agent Wyatt Kane to evade the mob executioners intent on their deaths and find her father without giving away his location.

My review …
This clean Christian mystery takes off at a fast pace. Abby is in danger constantly. And so is Wyatt once he joins her. Maybe it’s just me, but despite all that, I wasn’t pulled into the story from the get-go. There is a previous book even though “Tracked Through the Woods” is not shown as part of a series. Doing some research, I found “Deadly Amish Abduction” [not read] which is a story about Abby’s twin sister Rachel.

I will say the mob’s search for Abby, her father, & Wyatt is ruthless and never stops. The Amish touch in the book is in reference to Rachel and her father’s life before they had to flee. You’ll learn why her father took Abby and left Rachel.

Tracked Through the Woods” has a strong Christian accent. The short prayers offered fit the scene in which they appear. However, I felt as if Ms. Scott was trying “too hard” to make the lead characters “Christian”. Please do not get me wrong. I truly like Christian-based stories but I promise “an honest review“. I have reviewed at least two other Laura Scott similar mysteries and did not have the over-the-top reaction that I did with this book. It affected my rating of 3.5 stars, rounded to 3 for sites that only display round numbers.

The other rating reason I will place it at the very bottom of the review as it gives away a little bit of the plot.

I received a complimentary DRC (digital review copy) of “Tracked Through the Woods” via NetGalley from the publisher, HARLEQUIN – Romance (U.S. & Canada), Love Inspired Suspense. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Rating: 3.5 stars rounded down to 3 for sites only using round numbers.
Cover: Great cover. Grabs your attention.
Pages: 211
Series: Not listed but Deadly Amish Abduction is the previous book.
Publish Date: 26 Sep 2023
#TrackedThroughtheWoods #NetGalley #LauraScott

The other reason for 3.5 rating …
Every time Wyatt and Abby check into a motel he flashes his FBI credentials even though he *knows* that his FBI boss is dirty. It would be too easy for the FBI to call the out-of-the-way motels in the area they know or believe Wyatt and Abby are in and find out an FBI agent is spending the night. And since when do motels not take cash?

Peter Miller sought refuge in an Amish community in Wisconsin. He fell in love with a wonderful woman and became a member of the Amish Church. They had twin daughters, Rachel and Abby. All was well until the Marchese family found him, threatening his family and the members of his order. He was forced to leave his wife and planned to have his daughters stay in Wisconsin. When the threats happened, Abby was with him and he needed to flee without returning her to the group.
For years they would feel secure then need to leave at night. There was always a plan in place. His true name was Marchese. When he was 18 he was to become a member of the mafia, doing all they asked. He refused and left, changing his name and personal identification.
As Abby grew she became used to anonymity. She attended several schools and by high school instead of graduation she took the GED. Her thoughts of college were gone. Her father would leave to protect her innocence then call to meet at secret locations. She’d had enough when Peter failed to contact her for a long time. She began searching for her father but knew he remained concealed for her safety
Tracked Through the Woods will be released on September 26, 2023 by Love Inspired. I appreciate their allowing me to read and review the ARC via NetGalley. I enjoy reading Laura Scott’s books, they are a Christian based fiction. Her suspense is not as heart-pounding or disturbing, so after reading several of the heavy duty mysteries, Laura Scott is just what readers need for a pleasant, heart-warming suspense story. If you are a fan, enjoy this one. If you have not tried her novels, pick one up and find a pleasurable read.

"Tracked Through the Woods" is a Christian romantic suspense. I liked that both Wyatt and Abby had good aim. Wyatt didn't want to kill the assassins because he wanted to know who sent them, but he very sensibly shot to stop the threat rather than to spare his conscience if they died. He regretted killing another human without casting himself as the bad guy for defending himself and Abby. I liked how the author portrayed this dynamic.

Someone in the FBI has been leaking information to mafia bosses, and mafia assassins are trying to kill Abby's father because he came forward to inform on them. Since the mafia has corrupted law enforcement officers, who can they trust? Some of the suspense came from Abby's urgency to find her father as she thinks he may have been found during their last phone call. Most of the suspense was because those assassins were also targeting her and eventually Wyatt as well. Abby and Wyatt generally worked well together and were willing to take advice from each other. They were attracted to each other, quickly became friends, and soon were kissing during down times. Wyatt supported Abby's dreams for her danger-free future.

Abby had stopped praying while on the run, but Wyatt's prayer over their meals lead to her starting to pray for God's protection and help again. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense.

You better put your running shoes on for this one. Abby Miller and her father have been on the run for many years. Her father was an FBI informant against the mafia. They were safe for a period of time. Now someone has found them again, and, to make matters worse, Abby cannot find her father. FBI Agent Wyatt Keane wants to help Abby, but she is distrustful of all law enforcement. She has to trust him because she needs him. There is something rotten in the FBI, and it is up to Abby and Wyatt to find the mole, which is the only way they will ever be safe.

Abby's story was a sad one. I will not share too much as you will need to read the book, but mainly this poor girl has never been able to establish roots anywhere. The nomad lifestyle would get old after a period of time. The action was non-stop, and there was danger around every corner. It was made especially difficult when they could not trust anyone. Abby was a tough young lady. She may have had fear, but she appeared fearless when tensions were high. This is a tense, suspense-filled story of hope and renewal of faith.

I highly recommend this book for action lovers. You can never go wrong with a Love Inspired Suspense book written by Laura Scott.

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was the first book I've read by this author and it was pretty good and had lots of action. 3 1/2 - 4 stars.

Negative Content

A mention of a man going on a vacation to Aruba with his fiancée.( nothing happened, but it was not a bright idea and could both ruin their reputations and put them in a morally compromising situation).

A woman is sitting on the foot of a bed and was feeling sad so the man sat down beside her on the foot of the bed and kissed her forehead and the woman thinks that she wished she could cradled in his arms forever, and she kissed him, and then thinks its a bad idea because it knocked all rational thought from her mind.( again, nothing immoral happened but it put them in a bad place to be in for resisting any temptation that may come along).

A man and a woman share a kiss in a taxi cab and decide to ask to be dropped of at a hotel and plan to take another cab from there to avoid a tail and the driver smirked as if imagining it was to have a quick liaison.( which was not so).

This book had a really good writing style that was fun and not hard to follow along with.
I wasn't crazy about the pro-college vibe, like it would be hard for someone to go through life without having gone to college.
I was also not in favor of the lead male not liking the idea of arming a civilian.

Over all I liked it a lot although I will probably fix a spot or two. I would still recommend this book to most, but it would need tweaking before a younger reader read it.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Tracked Through the Woods. I'm a big fan of Laura's work and this one is a great read. It's well-written, action-packed, and full of faith. Her characters are well-developed and so real. I know you are going to love this one.

Abby Miller is looking for her father. She was on the phone with him when the call was cut off. Now weeks later she still hadn't heard from him. It wasn't like him to cut off all ties to her. She decided to backtrack to the places they had hidden from the mafia years ago. At the cabin they had stayed at she found the man who had betrayed her father.

FBI Agent Wyatt Kane had met with Abby's father once. Peter was going to give evidence on his mafia family. When they met the second time shots were fired and Peter disappeared. There had to be a mole in the FBI. Can he make Abby trust him? Can they work together?

An exciting journey to find Peter and stay a step ahead of the mafia. God has a plan for these two, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan for peace and not for evil. Trust Him with all your heart and watch Him move in your life.

Abby Miller’s father Peter is missing and she is determined to find him. Their family escaped from his mob family when she was a young child and had been living in an Amish community. When they were found, she and her father had to flee, leaving her mother and twin behind. Her father recently contacted FBI Agent Wyatt Kane believing that they could provide information that would allow them to resume their lives, but her father was almost killed. Did Wyatt set them up? Wyatt finally meets up with Abby and convinces her that he is also being targeted by someone in the agency and will help her find her father and the people who want them dead. An attraction slowly grows between them, but these feelings will have to wait until they are safe. A rush from beginning to end as they try to survive each threat, finally with the assistance of a local police chief. As the body count rises, how far reaching is the conspiracy to silence them? Tracked Through the Woods is a fairly short read, but the length fits the story. I am assuming that the frequent references to previous events involving the lead female character's sister means that I entered into the middle of a series. That did not impact my understanding of this story. It worked well as a stand-alone read. Some books make me feel as if I am in the midst of the story with the characters. Others make me feel as if I am watching from the outside looking in. Tracked Through the Woods is one of the latter. For readers whom realism is important in romantic suspense stories, this story doesn't have a great deal of that. For those who are more interested in the suspense as the culprit's identity is being sought, this story supplies plenty of that. I would recommend this book to those looking for a quick read to fill a rainy day.

I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy from Love Inspired an imprint of Harlequin via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Should say somewhere that this is not a stand alone book!!!! Because of the fact, I felt like I was missing something the entire read.

Only on the last page of the book we’re my suspicions confirmed. Really? Why isn’t it anywhere else????

If I had to guess, I would suspect that you want to read “Deadly Amish Abduction” first. Yep, page 215 is the only place it mentions other books!!! Then the author’s note on the next page finalized my suspicions: “… enjoyed returning to Green Lake and reading about Abby & Wyatt’s story”

Now that my biggest issue has been addressed, I enjoyed the action. There were a few places that typos were obvious. Biggest one was when she was holding Wyatt’s hand and then wouldn’t let go out Liam’s hand. Huh?

I didn’t feel any romance between the characters. Maybe if I knew about book 1 then I might have believed it??? I will never know.

That said, I won’t be reading more of Laura Scott’s books. The action was good, the praying was borderline and the romance was nil.

Tracked Through the Woods is a thrilling, action-packed story of romantic suspense. FBI Agent Wyatt Kane and Abby Miller are characters that tugged me into their world. They're on the run, seeking her father, and being chased by someone that wants all three of them dead. The peril that they're in leads them both back to their faith. There is an attraction between Wyatt and Abby that neither thinks the time is right for. Author Laura Scott does a fantastic job of weaving a romance through the excitement of this fast-moving plot. There were some unexpected twists and turns in the story. I had no clue who the bad guy was. I enjoyed the wonderful epilogue with a touching HEA. I would definitely read more from this author and would recommend this book to family and friends.
I received a complimentary copy through NetGalley from the publisher and am sharing my opinion of this well-written book.

Tracked Through the Woods by Laura Scott will keep you on your toes. I thought the story was well-written with a fast pace. The characters are developed and realistic. Abby’s story is heartbreaking, but she is a strong individual. I enjoyed getting to know FBI Agent Wyatt Keane. Abby does not want to trust Wyatt, but she needs help finding her father and staying alive. The pair need to learn to trust each other if they are to survive. I loved all the action. The danger lurking around every corner. They did not know who they could trust or where to hide out. I enjoyed figuring out who was behind the leak. I like how faith was incorporated into the story. Wyatt and Abby will need God’s guidance if they are stay alive. I liked that there was no foul language or intimate situations (just kissing). This is a story that you will want to read in one sitting. Tracked Through the Woods is an active tale with an absent pater, a dreadful leak, a frightened daughter, flying bullets, fostering faith, and a steadfast FBI agent.

Still hyperventilating after finishing this incredibly tense, action-filled romantic suspense! Way above the level of a page-turner — Tracked Through the Woods is a thrilling wonder that is impossible to put down.

The suspense is so…suspensey! 🙂 I mean, there are layers of clues and misdirections to wade through and all the while the feeling of dread shivered up my spine because….I can’t say without posting spoilers but Scott handles all the pressure and strain with sly precision. She knows how to mess with her characters and keep her readers glued to the page!

I was so excited to discover this Love Inspired Suspense on audible (usually it’s just their continuity series that are given ‘voices.’) Jennifer Jill Araya did a magnificent job of bringing these characters and their desperate situation to life. A thrilling, spine-tingling read!

This was absolutely painful. She is looking for her dad, running from the mob and for 18 years her dad and her moved many times. So she is searching old residents they lived in hoping to find her dad at one of them. Now here is a man who has hidden from his crime family and runs from them leaving a wife and daughter behind and running with the other twin. Then when found again, he suggest they split up for their own safety. What kind a weasel is he. Never went back to check on wife and daughter. Daughter that runs with him keeps retracing her steps to just 3 locations, even though there had to be many, and everywhere she goes with the FBI agent, they are shot at, again and again. Staying at hotel after hotel. Get what I mean, boring. Plus the entire plot made zero sense between his dead crime family and a new family wanting to take over, to a cop wanting to hide his involvement.

Abby's on the run to find her father before the mafia does. Wyatt is an agent who is undercover trying to find the FBI mole but also help keep Abby alive as well as finding her father but it's clear that someone is on their tail.

I really like how fast this book was there was just so much going on but it kept me hooked till the very end. I enjoyed seeing how they work together to figure things out and I love that there was plenty of close calls to keep things interesting. This book had a lot of faith going on if that's something you like. I like that while there was a bit of romance between the two it wasn't overwhelming or took over to book at all it was just lightly there and you can't help but eventually rooting for the two. Overall this was a really good book I really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed returning to Green Lake to discover more about Abby and follow her adventures with Wyatt as they try to track down her missing father, an FBI informant, who is on the run from the mob. They also need to uncover an FBI mole who is causing havoc with their investigation. The fast-paced, action-packed plot with perfectly placed twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat turning pages and guessing all the way to the satisfying ending! Alongside the exciting run-for-your-life suspense, a sweet, heartwarming romance is developing. The characters are well-crafted and memorable. I appreciate the gentle faith lessons about trusting God, His plan, and protection. I thoroughly enjoyed this inspirational romantic suspense story and highly recommend it.

I wish I'd known this book was from a series, because there's nothing on it that tells me that. I'm behind reading Laura's books and didn't read the previous because I hardly ever pick up Amish novels. However, it seems that the first half of the story is in that book.

I did enjoy the action/suspense part of them being on the run, but I definitely missed out on "the rest of the story" and I also wished to have gotten some sort of firsthand sense of why her father is such a great guy; everything about him is told, except just a few short sentences. The two MCs are pretty much the only fleshed-out characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required.

Abby Miller is searching for her father. Wyatt Kane is also searching for him. He is a federal agent who has been betrayed. Abby and her father neither one trust him as they were almost killed when they felt he had betrayed them.

This is a fast paced story with plenty of action. We aren't told until the end who the betrayer is. I did find it hard to believe that Abby kept going with all of the injuries she had received throughout the story. But it's a book. Not real life. Overall it's a good book and kept me reading.

A five star read for the Love Inspired Christian Suspense Genre. Action from page 1 to the end. HEA, suspense filled read that shows you how faith can play as big a part in your life as you allow. I knew there would be a twist and this one set me back, I did not see it coming. I went down the red herring path a time or two, or the what if path. I love a book that entertains, makes me hold my breath a nano sec or two and lets me see faith in all its glory. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #TrackedThroughTheWoods #LauraScott #LoveInspiredSuspense #Harlequin #NetGalley

Excellent book. This book isn't part of a series, but it seemed like some of the characters and locations were familiar from other books by the same author.

From the back cover:

Someone tried to kill er father before he disappeared - and now gunmen are on her trail. Teaming with Agent Wyatt Kane is her only chance to uncover an FBI mole - and survive the mob. Abby Miller and her father have been running and hiding from his mafia family for years. She is desperately trying to find her father as they have been separated by the betrayal. When making a promise to meet up and share information with FBI Agent Wyatt Kane, Peter Miller disappeared. Abby is scared that something has happened to him as she searches in various places.
Wyatt is trying to find both Abby and Peter Miller as he is certain their lives are in danger. He is positive that there is an agent who is working with the mob. He doesn't know who he can trust, especially his own boss.
This is a story with sharp twists and turns. There is danger and at least one assassin who is out to get the Millers at all costs. I received an advanced reader's copy from Harlequin Love Inspired through NetGalley. This is definitely filled with suspense. There is a sweet love story that grows as the tension builds. This is my unsolicited opinion. I enjoyed the book and the mystery.

Laura Scott is one of my favorite authors. I know her books won’t disappoint! “Tracked through the Woods,” is full of action and suspense that starts from the very beginning. The book is well written, has good characters, and a surprise ending!

Abby Miller and her father, Peter, have been on the run from the mafia for eighteen years! Now, FBI agent Wyatt Kane has discovered a mole within the bureau and is trying to find the Millers before it is too late. Will they trust Wyatt, who they think set them up?

This was an awesome book. Abby miller is determined to find her dad before the Mafia does. Wyatt Kane thinks his boss in the FBI is dirty. He wants to find Abby’s dad to help prove that some agents in the FBI are working with crime rings. He and Abby team up. They are tracked down over and over again. No place is safe, and they have no idea who they can trust. I’m thankful they trusted the sheriff and his deputies in Green Lake. They helped the two along the way. This book was action packed with suspense, and a hint of romance.
