The history of the beloved Christmas carol is celebrated through lush illustrations, from it's humble beginning as the voice of the poor and downtrodden, to it's journey across cultures touching people from all over the world.
The illustrations are simply mesmerizing! Their fine, exquisite details could easily grace any art museum's wall. And the story behind the beloved song, Silent Night, is one that every child should know.

Absolutely yes! SO GOOD. The illustrations are especially beautiful and the history is Absolutely inspiring. We had just finished up Shooting at the Stars, which is about the Christmas Truce of 1914 so the kids and I were excited to see more of the paralleled history involving the hymn ❤️ one star off because parts of the writing are worded very strangely but honestly it is so good regardless
When I was a kid I never thought much about how a song became to be. And yet there they were with all the inexplicable magic to make you feel something so deeply.
When I began reading this, I wasn't sure my little boy was going to be that interested. There's no hoopla and bells and whistles. But instead we were treated to insight to the origin of the heavenly song Silent Night, Holy Night. Did my little boy enjoy the book? We both did. He leaned in to see the pictures, asked questions when the book spoke of rumors in the town, and thought it was time well spent.
A beautiful book, with beautiful illustrations, about the history of Silent Night and the true meaning of Christmas. It includes some little-known facts (e.g., the first performance of Silent Night included a guitar), and references the wonderful story about the World War I soldiers who left the trenches at Christmas and sang Silent Night . I would recommend this book for children 7+ and adults. This is one I'd like to own.
Lovely story with the background to the writing of Silent Night. It has a beautiful feeling in it. Wow... the power of music to lift the spirits of the most downtrodden... a lesson to us when we need a lift!
I loved the artwork (especially inside the covers), and the description of the first public sharing of the song transported me to that time and place. This would be another wonderful addition to our collection of Christmas books.
Every year I buy a new Children's book for Christmas. I had a hard time finding one I liked this year, but I finally stumbled upon this one. It's a lovely story with a very gentle tone - and it helps that the hymn is one of my favorites.
The art was beautiful but the story was only so-so. The story focused on the men who wrote the song, but not what the song was actually about. I wish it had been more in depth. It seemed rather shallow.
