A must read for anyone who works with people and you hear their tales of woe and it makes you feel helpless.

Emotionally Involved is a powerful and important book about the affects of researching rape on scholars, and the importance of making sure emotions are a careful and purposeful part of the research process. It is carefully cited and wonderfully laid out monograph. While it does not cover absolutely everything in this field, it makes a fantastic push into a neglected topic and I hope other academics have expanded on these ideas further.

Finally finished this book recommended to me so long ago by Ray Douglas and found it enormously helpful. Wish I had read it when writing my Rosalie Wahl piece, as it captures the hostility in social science to any researcher emotion. Hope to assign parts of it to my honors colloquium.

I found this book in my university library, it interested me as I have never seen a book about the impact of researching rape which I would assume to be huge. Especially since I want to work in a related field, I wanted to find out more about how emotionally challenging is to work with survivors. Sometimes it was a hard read and I needed to take a break to read, but it is a very important book.
