Valkyrie Siskonen evaded death twice, and she knows she won’t survive another encounter with the Third Sister… …Sion Zona has no idea Valkyrie’s life is so close to the end, and she intends to keep it that way Valkyrie knows Sion will have no problem deviating from his calling if it means saving her. Even if he is the greatest hope the World of Eidolon has against an enemy larger than either the Tamurian Empire or King Magnu. Fortunately, Sion won’t be in the picture to circumvent the universe’s final destination for Valkyrie. He is leading a team through the war-torn nation of Bastille in the World of Rondure, seeking out the girl who owns the disembodied voice he’d been hearing for months. His new friends on Rondure know about that voice, as they heard her too. And to Sion’s surprise, so has his cousin Erno. Sion needs to continue his development to reach Wind Ruler status. Something he can only achieve with a face-to-face encounter with the girl. Valkyrie knows she needs to survive long enough until Sion has already embarked on his mission before the Third Sister collects her. And she also needs to know he will be okay when she’s gone.

I received an advance reader copy of Wind Ruler for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
When the third book in a series acts as a wonderful end to a trilogy, you could be forgiven for wondering what more there is for the author to tell. However, this is an author who doesn’t think in such rudimentary ideas as trilogies, instead preferring a multiverse-spanning series of interconnected series in his Renegades Epic.
Upon reading the third book in the series, Wind Keeper, I thought it was the final book in the trilogy, bringing closure to that subset of The Renegades Epic. To see Sion’s story continue is a true delight that immediately brought back into the world. It pays due respect to those earlier books, and continues Sion’s character arc in a way that feels consistent with all that came before, while also taking his story in unexpected directions.
With all that has come before in both the Elementals of Nordica and broader Renegades Epic, I’ll try to avoid spoilers. I will say Wind Ruler expands the scope of both the series and the epic, featuring more references to the other series and appearances by characters featured in them. These books all blend sci-fi and fantasy elements, with each series featuring its own subgenres—a key one here is military fiction—resulting in fun, bombastic, science fantasy action. The book introduces more science fiction and fantasy concepts to the epic, furthering the world’s depth. Thanks to this increased scope, Wind Ruler feels substantially bigger than the previous books.
Despite its increased scope, this is the shortest Elementals of Nordica book and one of the shorter books in the epic. It's the most dialogue-heavy of the books, resulting in less prose overall. While this approach can make a book feel underwritten, the author avoids this trap, using the prose to convey all the information the reader needs to know while keeping the pace moving along quickly. The prose in this book feels like the author's cleanest. The editing is also the strongest I’ve seen in these books, ensuring the reading experience is smooth.
The conversations are all entertaining. Wind Ruler features a broad cast, all of whom sound distinct from one another, making the conversations easy to follow. The characters are written well, and while many have appeared in a hefty number of books so far, others are new to this universe. Regardless of how well I know these characters, they all feel as clearly defined as the other.
As the protagonist, Sion remains the MVP. His arc is reminiscent of manga or anime, featuring a levelling up. And yet his story arc is the most introspective so far. He has some darker moments as he wrestles with an internal conflict, adding depth. As always, the action is action is exceptional, but as the book looks inward, there is less of it. This suits the story well, helping it maintain a quick pace while looking deeper at Sion, his world, and the other worlds within the multiverse.
Wind Ruler’s themes about the freedom of religion are pertinent to today’s society, and provide a lens to look at our own. The book doesn’t go deep into this theme, but its inclusion adds that bit more to the narrative.
As I’ve mentioned, this is the fourth book in a subseries of a wider series that expands its multiverse by bringing in characters from other series. If you’re the type of reader who avoids series, this obviously isn’t the book you’re looking for. At this stage in the epic, it doesn’t stand entirely alone, and greatly benefits from knowledge of Marti’s multiverse. Having read most of the books, I am well abreast of the world, but still had a little catch-up to do. If you’re new, the book makes it easy to pick up what you need to, but I’d still suggest further reading. Despite its connection to the other books, it still feels like a complete story, instead of just another chapter.
This is among my favourite books among The Renegades Epic, and is quite possibly my top pick. As a whole, they are improving as the series continues, so I ', looking forward to seeing where the author goes from here. It’s a continuation of a fantastic, interconnected multiverse.

Wind Ruler is a speculative fantasy by TC Marti and the fourth book in the Elementals of Nordica series. The story continues with Sion Zona who has been hearing a disembodied voice for months. It turns out that his new friends on Rondure know about the voice, too. Finding the owner of that voice is critical for Sion to reach Wind Ruler status so he seeks out the girl. While Sion is on his mission, Valkyrie keeps him in the dark about her critical situation. She has already escaped death twice, but she won’t be able to do that the next time danger comes to her. Valkyrie must survive long enough until Sion clears his quest and before the Third Sister collects her.
Review
This series is something I always anticipate for its magical elements and battle scenes because these are the parts that keep me most absorbed in reading. The plot is also something very intriguing and so far, I think Wind Ruler is the best because it’s more intense than ever and focuses more on Sion and Lalisa and their character development. I also got to meet the Three Sisters who are out to shape Sion’s destiny whether he likes it or not.
Overall, just like the other books in the series, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars for its ability to evoke a myriad of emotions and provide entertainment value. As much as I love the characters’ kickass side, I also love knowing about their soft spots. It’s their inner turmoil and how they overcome their struggles that make them fascinating. This may have been the toughest to read but it’s also the best in the series. Highly recommended to readers who are into military wars, quests, and elemental magic.
Wind Ruler is the fourth book in the Elementals of Nordica series and like all the rest before it, it gets better and better with each turn of the page. It kept me on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns guessing what was going to happen next. It kept me in the dark page after page as I raced to the end to see what was going on.
Wind Ruler was so intense as I waited to see what was going to happen to Valkyrie Siskonen. Valkyrie is a necromancer and has evaded death twice now but she knows she cannot evade it three times.
She knows her days are numbered but she doesn’t want to let Sion in on her little secret just yet as she knows he will do everything in his power to save her. He must continue with his task.
I always look forward to reading a book in the Elementals of Nordica series. I love everything about this world and its characters. The descriptions are so vivid making it so easy to see it in my head. I feel as if I can reach out and touch the characters they seem so real.
I love the magical elements parts of the story and the fighting. The tension ramps up at this point drawing me in so deep that the world around me disappears for a time.
If you are a fan of magic, fantasy, quest, and a good fight then let me suggest you give Wind Ruler a try. Grab your copy of Wind Ruler today!
Sion and Valkyrie are still pretty much in love and each has defied death in the past, on more than one occasion. However, one of the two senses that the time left in this mortal realm is closing in fast.
Sion is called away in Rondure, Bastille to be precise, to put a term to a conflict that has gone on long enough, causing death and destruction all over the land. His usual complement accompanies him on his mission as is the voice that he keeps earning without being able to put a face on it. During a fierce battle , Lalisa is severely wounded and will be knocking on heaven's door if her injuries are not tended to. Sion insists on carrying Lalisa, himself the nearest treatment facility with the hope of saving the young woman's life. Unknown to him are the strong feelings that Lalisa has for him. Valkyrie knows and, since she is friends with Lalisa, she has no fears and no doubts or insecurities towards those two. In this fourth book of the series, the author does not disappoint as she uses her gift to virtually transport the reader where the action takes place and , action there is. The adventure, action, love, treachery, despair, hope and newly discovered emotions towards one or the other keep the reader glued to the pages of this page turning 5 Stars rated book that I highly recommend.
This was such a powerful and captivating entry into the author’s Elementals of Nordica series. The story had the signature blend of fantasy and military action infused into so many scenes, making it feel very cinematic and adrenaline-fueled. The rich world-building and the expansion of the author’s scope for this story were so enthralling that I was driven into the core of this narrative from the beginning.
For me, the way the author touched upon a more emotional character direction for several of the characters and the haunting tone of the story made this such a compelling entry into the series. The vast amount of characters the author was able to bring to life in this story in a natural way and yet the heartfelt and emotional themes of destiny and sacrifice that the main cast of characters brought to life made this narrative feel alive and captivating.
The Verdict
Memorable, entertaining, and thoughtfully written, author TC Marti’s “Wind Ruler” is a must-read sci-fi and fantasy meets military action novel and a great entry into the Elementals of Nordica series. Filled with heartbreak, thrills, and memorable world-building moments that build upon the mythos the author has crafted, this thrilling series continues to draw the reader in time and time again.
We again have a gripping and captivating story in this series. Wonderful character development and world-building. We see the depths of emotions and commitments in personal feelings and relationships, and the same depths in their social views. Plenty of action on the roller coasters of emotions by all. Looking for the next book.
A wonderful ending to a beautiful series. Each and every story definitely lived up to everything. The characters made the story come alive. Each page made you want more.
