This is a well written historical western with strong characters and an intriguing story line. The author takes you back to the day with perfectly painted scenes and moves the story fluidly. She pulled me in with all the action and adventure as well as the romance between Selena and Cord. I was glued to the pages from start to finish reading and would recommend this book.

US Marshall Cord is sent to Arizona where he owns property to investigate a Julian Morse who is buying land after the owners are forced out by killings and burned down homes/barns. Cord's land is next to his father's old friends land which is now owned by his beautiful daughter Selena. The attacks on the land owners are made to look like Indian attacks but it is Julian's men that are the guilty ones and Cord is going to prove it regardless that Selena who has fallen in love thinks it is also Indian attacks. When Cord proves that Julian is guilty and not the Indians will Cord and Selena have a future together?
While I love a good Western Romance, I like to find books that aren't your typical read in the genre. Unfortunately, there wasn't much in Turquoise Sky that hasn't been written before. Even the ending was no surprise to me, but all in all, it could be an enjoyable read for most.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Monica Barrie; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
Salena’s father is killed in the Indian raids; her new neighbor Cords arrives and they get close until she finds out he’s a defender of the Indian cause.

Salena Andrews and Cord Langley's story of romance, and a villain with love for no one but greed and lies will make their lifes difficult. I would recommend. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Turquoise Sky: A Western Historical Romance by Monica Barrie
Set in the Arizona Territory in the late 1860's, during the Indian raids, Selena Andrews is left alone after her father was killed. She is determined to keep his ranch running and live a good life. A new neighbor Cord Langley arrives and she learns he is a defender of the Indians. She falls for him but also has reservations because her father was killed by Indians. Will love prevail? Will she be able to accept Cord for who he is?
A fast paced historical western romance. Selena is very likable, she is strong willed and determined to keep her father's legacy alive, in running his ranch. I liked Cord as well. He is strong willed and stood up for what he believes in, even if it is not what everyone else finds fitting. He is not afraid to pursue Selena. He knows what his heart wants, even if Selena is not sure herself.
Overall I found Turquoise Sky: A Western Historical Romance an enjoyable read. I recommend to Romances lovers (18+ due to some sexual content) I feel readers of this genre will enjoy it as well.
Although I found it written okay, the heroine of the book was hard to relate to. Although I sympathized with her situation and loss, and even understood her trust issues and hatred...it was just hard to like her, even at the end.
I also felt the ending was rushed and a revelation added into the story that turned a decent ending (minus the rushed action scene) into "eh". It was an unnecessary thing to do and felt like the author was reaching to tie together ties that really didn't add anything to the story (or at least in a way that was presented).
If the revelation had to be included, I say it would have been better revealed in the middle of the story and woven into the rest of it, rather than just popped up in the end. Either complicating the story unnecessarily, or allowing the female main character more depth (depending on how it was done).
Either way, something I wouldn't recommend or re-read.
