Ashes of Evil: A Tale of Three Women

Rate this book
Two men appear in a small Mexican village. A desperate young woman, Tomasina, believes their offer of transportation to El Norte, and good pay for hard work is the answer to her prayer. Despite her family's concern, Tomasina accepts. Like cattle, she and other workers are smuggled across the border and transported to a vineyard in Central California. They find the work back breaking and the living conditions terrible. When Horst Seligman, the owner of the vineyard, rapes Tomasina, she escapes into Oregon and finds her fate entwined with that of two other women, pampered Medora and strange Ruby.
