*sigh* A man, an alpha male, a werewolf. Could it get any better? For years and years I was team vampire, there was nothing else of any importance. However, I think the tides are turning and I am team werewolf. How could you not be? I have yet to read a story about a werewolf that is some wimpy little cowardly pup. No way. They are these big hulking alpha male men, ready to defend and protect their women and their pack at all costs. *swoon*

And now I get to add Jake Silver to my list of favorite. This book is #8 it the Heart of the Wolf series. Which, embarrassingly, I didn’t realize when I requested the book from NetGalley. Then looking through my kindle, I see I also have #5!! Whew! Anyhow, this book easily read as a stand alone book. There was no point that I felt lost in this world. Everyone was described and everything fit.

This story’s heroine is Alicia Greiston. Her mother was murdered six months ago, and she is out to avenge her mothers death. She doesn’t want to kill the guy who did it, she just wants justice and wants him in prison where he belongs. So she goes through training, she becomes a bounty hunter. She may look like this petite little thing, but the girl can pack a punch and uses her feminine appearance to her advantage. Usually she deals with female criminals, but now she has finally been handed the case she really wants. Mario and his henchmen – mob guys.

Then we meet the hero male lead of the story, Jake Silver. Va va va voom, this guy has it all (as I’ve already noted haha). Oh, did I forget to mention he takes stunning photographs? The man is the whole package. He sees Alicia, and instantly wants her – a human!

I really enjoyed this book, and all of its twists and turns. There was a lot of action, and the picture was painted very clearly. I kept finding myself waiting for my next free moment, itching to turn on my kindle and see what happens next. Poor Alicia keeps finding herself in trouble, time after time. These guys are proving harder to catch than she had anticipated!

And the love scenes were hot, and plentiful enough that I didn’t feel like the book was just about these two hooking up or, on the opposite hand, that they didn’t feel “it” for each other. They were hot together. And the dreaming was an addition I really enjoyed to this story.

The author did a fantastic job dealing with the wolves in their wolf form. I really felt like I was looking through the eyes of a wolf. The great thing about shifter stories is you get this whole other layer of the characters. Sure, you get to know them as humans, but then you get to really know them – the true person – as their shifter self. And in this book particularly, the way wolves interacted with each other and their surroundings really lent a realistic feel to the book.

I am definitely going to read the rest of this series, starting with book one. Terry Spear has a new fan, and I can’t wait to start!

Dream of the Wolf by Terry Spear

This is the first book I’ve read by Terry Spear’s and it is listed as book # 8 in the series, but I had no difficulty in reading Dreaming of the Wolf. This can be read as a standalone without any problem. I really enjoyed it the story and Terry Spear’s writing was easy to read and her words flowed so well that before you knew it you were at the end of the book.

The main character Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter and is after the people who killed her mother. This put her in a very danger situation and is in danger herself. When Jake Silver meets Alicia there is instant attraction. Jake wants to keep her safe no matter what and Alicia wants to keep him out of the mess she has created. Alicia has no idea that Jake is a werewolf and an alpha male at that. The heat soars between these two and a relationship evolves. But can it work Alicia is not used to being told what to do or how to do it, Jake is so used to people following his order and how will he handle a independent woman like Alicia. You must read to find out.

This book is full of suspense, mystery and hot romance. I am very intrigued now to go back and read the 7 books before this and hope there will be more to come. I will definitely recommending this series to my friends and fellow reading groups.

Bounty Hunter Alicia Greiston may be in over her head trying to bring her mother's murderers to justice. Luckily she meets alpha shifter Jake Silver and he's willing to do whatever it takes to keep Alicia safe and happy. There is just one tiny issue in their way. Alicia is human.
Bachelor Jake just wants to keep the peace and the only thing he won't do for his sister-in-law is be mated and as second in command he's used to being obeyed. After two failed marriages and not having any family, Alicia is used to being on her own. When Jake goes to sell some of his photographs, Alicia catches his eye and he follows her - right into trouble. The thugs Alicia is following try to force her to go with them when Jake steps in and stops them. Both Alicia and Jake are immediately charmed with each other and spend time falling even deeper for each other. Soon the question is if Alicia is doing the following or if she is being followed as the thugs try to separate them. To keep Jake safe from the thugs, Alicia runs away from Jake and resumes her attempts to catch her quarry. I liked Jake's quiet alpha strength and Alicia's entire personality. They were good individually and had great chemistry as a couple. The Silver Town pack comes to the aid of the troubled couple as Jake insists they are now dream mated.
I really like the variety of the stories and the people in this series. The romance is hot and the action set piece of this installment are great. There was a small mystery here but it was such an integral part of the story I would term this read more a paranormal suspense or thriller more than a standard paranormal romance. As usual, the story is strong and complete enough to be read as stand-alone but is part of a larger collection.

My favorite of the series so far. I'm not saying it's a perfect book but I really enjoyed it. I like this werewolf world that Ms. Spear has created. The world this series takes place in just keeps getting richer. I like that she writes stories that are scattered around the world not just following one pack or group of brothers etc. Although the hero's older brother had a book and I suspect his other brother will.

I liked the heroine. She was interestingly feisty without being TSTL.

The hero was crazy about the heroine and very loving and protective of her.

The suspense plot may have had a few holes but they didn't bother me. The plot moved fast and furiously and I grinned happily a few times at the absurdity of if all.

Fun read and I can't wait for the next one.

The further the series moves along, the more the books change. I like it, but they are getting different.

This book is more of a romantic suspence with less focus on werewolves, but I also love those kind of books, so it was a great crossover! It was not as PNR as all of the other books in this series.

I was also very glad that I didn't have to wait for the end 3/4 th of the book to finally have the characters get together... It was really very quick! I was less frustrated than many other books that take so damn long with the back and forth.

To Terry: You could do a whole RS series and do well. You are an amazing writer & your background is perfect! Maya banks crossed over in Genres... Hers are still as good.

I have no idea how Terry Spear keeps her werewolf stories fresh and exciting, but she does book after book and she does it well. Her characters are always strong, and she’s true to those characters whether in their human or wolf form. Details, big or small, are never redundant from story to story, nor are the storylines. Each featured couple receives their own unique tale, including a mystery designed just for them. This series has been consistently one of the best, never letting me down from the beginning.

Jake Silver doesn’t believe in love, soul mates, or dream mating. So he’s not on the lookout for a long-term relationship at this point in his life, despite how happy his oldest brother is since he found his dream mate. But the curiosity inherent in his animal nature leads him to follow the beautiful woman he spies while waiting for a photography shop to open in Breckenridge. He’s supposed to drop off his wild flower collection for exhibition, but he’ll have to be a tad late. Following the lady into the restaurant across the street finds her courting all kinds of danger.

Keeping her vow of vengeance uppermost in her mind, Alicia Greiston has turned bounty hunter to bring the men who killed her mother to justice. That they’re part of the mob doesn’t matter. Danger now goes with her job, and she’s facing it head on when necessary. When she notices the sexy, hot guy eying her, she’s definitely interested, but she has to keep her focus. She has a promise to uphold.

But in the onslaught that is Jake, Alicia doesn’t have much choice. She responds to him immediately. And I like that Ms. Spear gives us their lovemaking early on in this book. Anticipation is great when waiting for a couple to finally come together, but sometimes you need them to be together much, much sooner, especially if they’ve teamed up and are working to solve a mystery or are running for their lives, as examples. In this case, Jake’s protective streak is in full force when he learns what Alicia is up to. The need to keep her safe, to be with her, to want her like he does mystifies him. He’s wolf. She’s human. They can’t mate. What is it about this woman?

That’s another thing about Ms. Spear’s werewolf stories - we don’t get the same old reason over and over for a human to be turned. Alicia is definitely turned, of course, but it’s in a way I’ve not read before and that made the story much more interesting, because there are repercussions to be dealt with by both Alicia and Jake, depending on what happened during her conversion. Very nicely done without stringing it out to the very end. Tension about the situation is still high, but it’s all done quite succinctly in only a few chapters. I like the dichotomy of Jake’s alphaness and dominance versus his skill in taking photographs, with his favorite subject being flowers. He’s a fierce protector, but that softer side enjoys nature and wildness and beauty.

The best parts of this book are those love scenes between Jake and Alicia and all of the shifting scenes, especially those by Alicia once she’s turned, because she’s had no one to guide her or teach her about being a werewolf. First, the love scenes. Very hot. Jake is to die for and Alicia isn’t about to say no to him. Smart woman. He also has a very tender core and it comes out in some very romantic ways. Then those shapeshifting scenes, I enjoy those immensely when these characters are in their wolf form. There’s a scene where Jake and Alicia are running through the forest, along with a couple of other wolves, and he runs next to her, fur rubbing fur, a nose prodding here and there, all very descriptive of the way wolves behave. There are several such scenes throughout which make this book so appealing to a shapeshifter fan.

The action is jammed packed when needed, especially the fight scene between Jake and the villain late in the book. Even his story is interesting, despite his evilness. His henchmen are the oily, scummy kind and you can’t wait to see their end, hoping it’s as painful as can be. We also get caught up with Darien and Lelandi, as well as Tom, the third brother. I’m looking forward to his book. These triplets have been a lot of fun!

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: if you haven’t started reading Terry Spear, get with it! You won’t be disappointed. If you’re a few books into this series, stay with it. Each book is better than the one before. You can never get enough of werewolves like these.

Original Romancing the Darkside Review:
http://romancingthedarkside.blogspot....

A steamy and suspenseful read for werewolf lovers!

Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter seeking justice by tracking down the ruthless men who murdered her mother. While undercover, Alicia encounters a dangerous situation and the sexy Jake Silver comes to the rescue by pretending to be her boyfriend. Alicia is intrigued by the handsome stranger who acts as her knight in shining armor, but knows she has to keep her focus on the mission at hand. Not a huge believer in finding his true mate, Jake is a loner werewolf who is taken by surprise over his protective feelings for Alicia, she's unleashed the beast inside him and he'll stop at nothing to keep her safe.

Dreaming of the Wolf is a smart and sexy read with great romance and tons of twists and turns. Terry Spear creates a fascinating world of werewolves and portrays their lives, community and behavior in a realistic view never seen before in this genre. She captures the essence of what it would feel like to be a werewolf through human eyes flawlessly. Alicia and Jake are two strong-willed characters who complement each other with their tongue-in-cheek humor and off the charts chemistry. The romance develops quickly in the midst of all the action but always remains in the forefront of the story. The main characters spend plenty of time in each other's company getting to know one another which makes their attraction and relationship quite believable. It's pretty hard not to fall in love with the sexy, Alpha male that is Jake Silver!

This is a story of unexpected, yet passionate romance, family and suspense. There's never a dull moment and all of the character's personalities really shine through. We briefly meet Jake's brothers and family who are all just as charismatic as he is and will leave you wanting. A few fun surprises are also revealed throughout the story that make the happily ever after better than I could have hoped for! Dreaming of the Wolf has won me over and made me extremely curious about the rest of this series, I will certainly be adding them to my reading list. Heartfelt romance, sexy werewolves and a thrilling plot await you in Terry Spear's Heart of the Wolf series!

It has been a while since I read this series. I am so glad to continue it with this book. Because it has been year(s) since i read this series I feel its a 3.5-4 stars. Good characters though I was annoyed that near the end Alicia Greiston the main female character ended being so weak. Her personality changed a LOT in my opinion.I loved her in the beginning of the book though.=0)

I love paranormal books, but I’m not a huge fan of werewolves. I don’t have anything against them, and some author’s do them really well, but when I want a paranormal book I don’t reach for werewolves. With that said… I really enjoyed this book.

I was drawn into this story from page one and loved Jake and Alicia. You could feel their chemistry immediately, and I hated it when they were apart. I hated putting this down to deal with real life.

The mystery was good, and I really wanted Alicia to get the justice she was seeking . I was also glad that the twist turned out in favor of Alicia and Jake.

Terry Spear is a new-to-me author, and I won this book here on Goodreads. I’ll definitely be reading more of her books.

3 stars.

We're back with the Silver Town wolves. Jake is the 2nd triplet. Alicia is a human bounty hunter who's trying to arrest the mobsters who murdered her mother.

An ok read. I just wish Ms Spear spent more time on explaining the plot and less on the sex scenes. Sometimes it just feel as if we have to work things out ourselves.

Honestly it's a stretch to want to give it half a star for how funny some of the stupid things are. But the stupid things are too bad to give it a full star. Didn't feel like a romance but now I can say I've read one of these books and I'm good with just that

The aura of romance reached out and grabbed me as soon as Jake spied Alicia and followed her like a lost puppy in the first chapter. Ms. Spear set up the motivation, plot and drama right then and there and I was hooked.

Dreaming of the Wolf has the most adorable wolfie on the cover and I wanted to scratch his ears. Realizing that the cover represented the delectable Jake Silver in the story made it very plausible that Jake was a very handsome and capable man. I love it when a cover can capture the essence of one of the characters. Jake was a delight. He was yummy, forceful, quite protective and he was an alpha. He also did artwork with flowers. Talk about a dichotomy. I liked how initially he went with his gut and how later on he realized that there was more than simply attraction going on. He was falling in love. Alphas never do it the easy way though. Oh no, he has to fight mob connections for her and as a reader might guess, it’s an uphill battle. Jake is great in battle. The author did a wonderful job of depicting the hero as a capable and effective fighter – when given the chance. Nothing more fascinating to watch than a protector being thwarted and when he finally gets a chance to go all out, the scenes were exciting, tightly written and full of wonderful wolf mojo.

The beneficiary of all that glorious testosterone is Alicia. The author has quite a few surprises in store for the heroine and readers alike. I tremendously enjoyed how Ms. Spear had Alicia’s life spin out of control all while orchestrating her being in Jake’s sphere of influence to the point where the heroine finally gets the feeling that things could possibly go right for a change. However a lot of wrong has to happen first. While that is happening, a reader gets to see her test her mettle against big bad guys, amazing and scary revelations and a man who she can’t help falling in love with. She tries, oh yes she does because she felt she needed to ‘save’ him and protect him from herself. What a wonderful set up for an awakening to love and all that entails. Alicia is also really sweet especially when she focuses on one fact other than what Jake expected – it endeared her even more to the hero and it made me feel more connected to the heroine. What must it be like to be faced with that many unknowns and to want to be elated but end up being worried instead. Talk about emotional angst, and Ms. Spear hit the target on every one. I felt the heroine’s fear, pain, excitement and joy. Now that’s real storytelling.

The villains are many with one in particular being the peskiest. Mario is a real creep. His brother is a surprise as well a great conflict motivator. The other relatives are weak and evil and the henchmen are just bullies. There’s a lot of gun play and blood and suspense. How in the world is Alicia going to get out of the sticky wicket she finds herself in? Every time she turns around, it gets worse and worse and more overwhelming! Ms. Spear proved genius in her handling of it all. Some readers might think the final solution to be too pat or perfect but it worked for me. In fact, I slumped in relief. I don’t think I’d have believed any other resolution than what the author chose to do – it fit. I was so happy!

For that extra spice, the author had Jake and Alicia have mad passionate dream sex. That doesn’t sound impressive and for a lot of books it’s a drawback and one of my least favorite writing techniques. Ms. Spear is the only author who’s presented a logical and wonderful reason why it works and why I will read every word, sentence and paragraph without skimming or skipping. For readers of the series, they’ll know why and for new readers, it’ll be a treat. Well, it’s a treat either way actually.

Romance abounds in every caress, kiss and heated gaze making Dreaming of the Wolf a must read for anyone who enjoys sensual passion with their romantic suspense. Jake and Alicia eventually become the loving couple they both yearned for but never expected to deserve much less have. And the fact they found it in each other purely by accident, by the whim of fate, showcases how special their relationship truly is. I had an awesome time reading this book. It’s a real page flipper and almost impossible to put down until the final page is turned. I swooned at how perfect the ending was, and how happy Jake and Alicia ended up being. Dreaming of the Wolf is paranormal romance at its finest.

***original review posted at Romancing Rakes***

Reasons to read this book: a hunky overprotective werewolf, a sassy kickass bounty hunter heroine, a Mob boss hellbent on making said heroine his own, a murdered mother's secret, generic Mafia type henchmen who can't get anything right, super sexy dream mating, close knit wolf pack, naked sexing in the woods, an unexpected turn of events (get it? cause wolves can turn humans? *insert "ohhhh,I understand" here). Need I say more? Do I hear you salivating at the thought of reading this book?

Alicia Greiston is a small time bounty hunter bringing in women when they miss their court date (some sort of sexual harassment prevention measure thing since the women might accuse a man bounty hunter of sexual harassment). At least until her mother gets murdered and she's given the opportunity to hunt bigger game like the mob boss and his henchmen who killed her mother. She's been trailing them for a while and ends up in an Italian restaurant waiting it out.

Enter the super serious hunk of a man, Jake Silver. Jake is dropping off some photos at a local gallery and notices Alicia. He follows her into the restaurant sensing danger and trying to deflect the unwanted advances of the waitstaff. She fascinates him. What in the world is this woman doing trying to take down these Soprano-like men?

Jake saves Alicia after she is threatened by one of the men. He talks her into going to dinner with him and she agrees. After all, this guy did just save her life and there's an attraction there. Jake finishes up his business at the gallery and Alicia goes to place flowers on the trail where her mother was killed. While doing so, the henchmen find her, try to shoot at her and bam! a wolf comes out of the woods looking pissed.

After spending some sexy time in the woods and in a hotel room together, Jake can't stop thinking about this woman. He's never felt that way before and he can't because she is human. He won't turn her just so he can spend the rest of his life with her. Alicia can't believe that sexy time can be sweet and satisfying. Her first two husbands (yup, two!) were in the 'wham, bam, thank you ma'am' category.

Receiving a note saying that Jake will get hurt, Alicia packs her things and heads out of town. Anywhere to keep Jake safe. And thus begins the trek across Colorado dodging bullets, an angry mob boss's henchmen trailing behind, getting bitten by a wolf and turned, trying to cope with the fact she might be a werewolf, dream mating with Jake and trying to figure out why her mother got killed. Wow! That's a lot for a person to take on but Alicia does her best, never cowering.

Jake can't believe Alicia just up and left without so much as a note. He tries to find her but must go back to the pack. He becomes broody and moody and very confused when he begins dream mating with Alicia. Only wolves can dream mate and last he knew, Alicia was not a wolf. He's determined to find her and to help her in case she's been turned.

Jake and Alicia must come to terms with the fact she has been turned and try to find the man who killed her mother. And fight that growing attraction between them, strengthened by the fact she has been turned. Jake can finally be with her. Alicia is at first surprised to find out that Jake can shift into a wolf but as she falls more in love with him, she accepts who he is and who she has come to be.

FAVORITE QUOTE:
"Only in this case, she wouldn't turn into a penniless scullery maid who vied to go to the ball and meet the prince before midnight. Instead, she'd go back to being a bounty hunter who was bound to get her prince killed just by knowing him. That thought continued to nag at her as tried to think of a way out of this. But she didn't want out Damn it. She wanted him."

OVERALL: Why the heck have I missed all the other books in this series since reading Heart of the Wolf? This is a wonderful read that stays true to the nature of wolves and full of laugh out loud moments, danger, discovery, love, acceptance and explosive physical attraction. Jake and Alicia's chemistry sizzled, popped and holy carp! from the first time they met until their happily ever after. A definite must read!

Jake Silver is a nature photographer who just recently started displaying his works in local galleries, he is also a werewolf. Visiting the town of Breakenridge to drop off some of his work, Jake sees a beautiful woman sneaking around outside and decides to follow her. Learning that Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter seeking vengeance on a group of mobsters for the death of her mother brings out all of Jake’s protective instincts even though Alicia is only human. Trying to keep her safe proves to be quite the challenge for Jake since Alicia is adamant in taking down the mobsters by herself and keeping Jake out of harm's way. But with danger comes an intense passion that can’t be denied and when circumstances change Alicia might just get the wolf, and the future, she’s been dreaming of.

Dreaming of the Wolf is book 8 in the Heart of the Wolf series, but don’t let that scare you off because it is set up perfectly as a stand-alone. This is actually my first read from author Terry Spear, though I’ve had her on my TBR list for a while now. Dreaming of the Wolf was a good story and I enjoyed the aspects of the Silver wolf pack but the actuality of it didn’t quite meet my expectations.

The character of Jake himself was well-written, sexy and captivating. He had a deliciously sweet side and I really loved him and the whole silver pack that was featured. They intrigued me and made me interested in their own stories. The pack atmosphere was well detailed and vivid; you could tell that the author knew what she was talking about when it came to wolves. When it came to Jake’s relationship with Alicia however, I wasn’t quite feeling it. Being a werewolf, Jake couldn’t get involved with a human and Alicia was too set on her journey for justice to be side-tracked. Having a few failed marriages under her belt didn’t put Jake in any better of a light for her either. Jake was trying to find a way around their circumstances, considering his feelings for Alicia, but she was having none of it and her character just didn’t seem to fit. And when it came to their sex scenes I actually skipped over half of them. You're shocked, I know. LoL The reason being, they were redundant. It was the same scenario, same actions, same moves, each and every time. It was like these characters only knew one way to get it on and it never varied no matter how many times they did it. I was just unable to connect with the heroine or believe in their relationship which ended up dragging the story down for me. I think if there was a different heroine, a better fit maybe for the hero, I would of enjoyed the romance more.

However, there was some action, a few nice twists, and the world-building was excellent. I would say Dreaming of the Wolf was still a good read despite my problems with it and I have seen many glowing reviews for it, but it just wasn't my glass of wine. Though this will not be the last novel I read by Terry Spear, I will definitely be trying out her other novels in the Heart of the Wolf series just for the werewolves alone!

I received an ecopy of this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I have to admit that I haven't read any other books in the Heart of the Wolf series, but I've heard really good things about it, so when I saw this book listed on NetGalley I decided to give it a try. I can honestly say that I now see why everyone loves this series!! And the best part is that this book can definitely stand on its own! Even without knowing what happens in the previous books of the series, Terry Spear lets you know what's what without making you feel like you are being dumped information.

From Goodreads: "Werewolf pack leader Jake Silver is an acclaimed photographer. He sees a beautiful woman at the art gallery where his photos are on display, and his intrigue turns into wolfish protectiveness. Alicia Greiston has never met anyone like Jake-he's sexy, alpha, and totally irresistible, and he calls to something primal in her soul."

Jake Silver goes to drop of some photographs he took at an art gallery in Breckenridge, Colorado, and he's planning a quick in and out so he can get back to his home in Silver City, where his pack is located. But when he sees a very attractive woman surreptitiously taking photos of a car's license plate on the same street, he's curious (and interested) enough to follow her into a restaurant. It turns out she's a bounty hunter named Alicia Greiston and she's bound and determined to take down a couple of mob guys by herself, to keep a promise she made to herself when her mother was murdered by these same men. Jake, being the sexy, fierce, alpha werewolf that he is, decides to stay in town to protect her, even though they can have no future because she's a human and werewolves are not allowed to have more than passing sex with humans. Therein lies the problem and you will have to read the book to find out how it is resolved because I'm not giving it away!! No, I mean it - don't even ask!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first foray into Terry Spear's writing! The sex scenes were hot, hot, HOT - but that wasn't all there was to the book by any means. The story was one that drew you in, and you really cared about all of the characters. I can tell you this for sure - I am definitely going to go back to the very beginning of this series and read the first seven books because if they are anywhere as good as this one was, I know I'm going to fall in love with Silver City and its very interesting citizens!

In summary, I highly recommend this book for paranormal lovers and werewolf lovers alike!! :D

Jake Silver hated being away from his pack, so waiting around Breckenridge, Colorado for the art gallery to open was not making him a happy camper. He knew letting his packmates talk him into selling his photographs would was a bad idea. When he spots the sexy little sprite across the street taking covert pictures of a license tag, he does what any curious male wolf would do…. he hunts. Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter after the mobster responsible for her mother’s murder. When the gorgeous and charming stranger comes to her rescue after one Constantino’s goons corners in a restaurant, Alicia rethinks her stance on giving up on men for awhile. A two time loser in the marriage arena, Alicia has giving up on “happily ever after”, but a really happy one night might not be a bad idea.

A tremendously fun and easy read! This was my first foray into Terry Spear's world of the lupus garou, but it definitely won't be my last (and I had to go out and buy the first seven books after reading this wonderful gem). Dreaming of the Wolf had great, funny and interesting characters in a tension and action packed story. There was no down time in this book, each word was utilized to the fullest extent. It was action, danger, intrigue, suspense and of course a fair amount of smooshing. (for those not familiar with the Jersey Shore vernacular, ....sex) Jake was an intense but laid back alpha from the Silver town pack, an isolated, close knit group. Alicia, although she had a few tiny quirks, she was still a guns blazing, kick ass heroine and fully worthy of the title.

This is one of my favorite kind of series, it didn't leave me with emotional scars, no Xanax or bourbon was required. I could read and enjoy this book with no eye ticks or cussing fits, it went down like a lazy summer day. This is a perfect relaxing vacation from a stressful day in the real world. How great and rare is that? These are the types of shifters you could have as neighbors and friends. A little strange maybe, but who isn't? And Terry Spear knows that the reader's hostility should be directed at the villains, not irritating main characters. I love that soooo much!!! An author who gets how to create likable (and lickable) characters.... YAY! I am firmly on the Terry Spear's bandwagon and I recommend you find yourself a seat.

Oh, and just a heads up. The next book is about US Navy SEAL wolves. (Now that is an awesome concept)

Although Dreaming of the Wolf is book 8 in Terry Spear's Heart of the Wolf series, this book is definitely able to be a stand alone. This was the first book I have read by Terry Spear, and I very much enjoyed the story and the Silver wolf pack.

Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter following the mobsters who killed her mother, and trying to get them back to jail. She is determined, but she is also in danger. From the minute Jake Silver sees Alicia, he is intrigued, and determined to keep her from harm. However, with mobsters after Alicia, keeping her safe is a very tough job. Jake and Alicia are attracted to each other and danger leads to some hot interactions, but circumstances keep their relationship from developing further. Alicia wants to keep Jake out of the mob danger, and Jake doesn't want Alicia to know that he is really a werewolf. However, as Alicia tails the mobsters, her circumstances change, and only Jake, the man she's been dreaming of every night, can help her.

It took me a little while to really get into the story, it is holiday season, and life has been taking away from my reading time. However, once I was able to sit and read, I was drawn into this story, and I liked what I read. Alicia and Jake are both excellent characters. They are independent, loyal people and they fit very well together. I was a bit surprised at how fast they hooked up, but in the end I guess it worked. Lets just say they go from dinner to dessert pretty darn fast. Jake is definitely super protective of Alicia, he is an alpha male after all. However, Alicia is not used to men being protective of her, or even being nice to her. It's nice to see Alicia begin to trust a man and to see how each of their characters adapts to new circumstances. The romance is sweet at times, and very hot at times, the perfect combination.

A woman on the run, an alpha male protector, and werewolves unite to make Dreaming of the Wolf a paranormal romance read that readers will not want to miss.

Dreaming of the Wolf is part of a series, but I had no problems understanding the book. In fact, I love the characters in Jake's pack, and I hope that I get the chance to read more of this series in the future. Paranormal readers and readers who love shifters and werewolves will really enjoy Dreaming of the Wolf, I know that I did.

I received this book for review from NetGalley.

Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter in Breckeridge, Colorado. She usually goes after female bail jumpers but now she is going after some big fish. She is after a mob boss and his right hand. Alicia's mother has always dated men who are involed with the mob in one way or another. Alicia has always worried about her mother getting hurt. A few months ago her worst fears came true. Her mother and the man she was seeing at the time were shot and killed on a local hiking trail. There were no leads on the case but Alicia knew who shot them and not only that but who had ordered the hit. When both men miss their court date, Alicia is determined to bring them both in.

Jake Silver is the second to his brother who is the pack leader in their small town. His new sister-in-law talks him into taking his wildlife photos to a gallery in Beckeridge. While waiting for the gallery to open, Jake sees a woman taking a picture of the plates on a parked car. When she goes into a local restaurant he follows her in. There is something about her that intrigues not only him but his wolf as well. Jake knows that a relationship between the two of them is not going to happen because Alicia is human. When Jake sees a thug trying to get Alicia to leave the restaurant with him, Jake comes to her rescue. The more time they spend together it seems the closer they grow. When Alicia gets word that the mob boss will kill Jake if she does not leave him, she is worried that it will happen so she skips town. Having no luck trying to track Alicia down Jake heads back home. He starts having dreams about Alicia and he is confused because a dream mating can only happen between two wolfs, not a human. On her own Alicia faces many changes and suprises, she comes to know that she needs Jake.

This is the eigth installment of Ms Spear's Werewolf series. I have loved each and everyone of the books in this series. This story is a love-at-first-sight kind of story. The humor between the two main character had me laughing out loud. There was enough action in keep you on the edge of your seat. I have not been dissapointed in any of the books in this series. They are all keepers. Book nine will be out March of 2012 it is titled A Seal in Wolf's Clothing.

Dreaming of the Wolf by Terry Spear
Paranormal Romance Dec. 6th, 2011
4 stars

Dreaming of the Wolf continues the author’s well loved werewolf series with a strong-willed heroine and a hero who strives to protect her.

In this book, a grumpy Jake Silver is at first frustrated when he drives all the way to drop off his art at a gallery only to find it closed. But his spirits lighten considerable when he spies a mysterious and lovely woman who quickly attracts his attention. What is she doing and how can he find a way to meet her?

Alicia Greiston has recently become a bounty hunter and is tracking her latest man, Mario Castinatino, making sure he makes his way to court and justice. But this job is personal because she feels that Mario is related to her beloved mother’s death. Unexpectedly, a handsome and rugged stranger comes and saves her from a very unwanted attention. They soon have an easy relationship. But Alicia’s past and her need for revenge may stop any new love from growing. Can Jake save Alicia before the powerful Mob gets to her just like they did with her mother?

This was an easy and quick read. Alicia and Jake are very likeable characters and formed a very early relationship that felt very natural. Alicia is a strong heroine who feels driven to find vengeance for her mother but as the same time finds herself distracted by the very charismatic Jake. I liked how Jake stood by Alicia and helped her through the entire story. I also enjoyed how the grouchy Jake changes when he meets Alicia and becomes a very charming and seductive suitor. This story also has a lot of interest primarily due to the evil Mario and his attempts to murder Alicia. This made for exciting reading and drives the plot so it often felt like a suspense novel. But what I found most interesting was how the story revealed what her mother really was doing that got her killed. Anyone who loves action, mystery and a solid romance will enjoy this latest installment in the author’s shifter series.

A suspenseful romance plus some dangerous shifters leads to a thrilling read.

This book has EVERYTHING!!!

No joke, there are Mob bosses, murders, wolves, and best of all LOVE. We start out meeting Alicia Greiston who had had the misfortunate of getting herself wrapped up in a crime spree; as a bounty hunter she’s been given a case that is more personal than professional. She’s hunting her mother’s killers, which given her track record, should have been easy, except they’re on to her, and they want her as bad as she wants them!

Enter Jake Silver, an artist with a bad boy look. He takes beautiful pictures of lush forestry, and finds Alicia in more trouble than she can handle. He’s drawn to her, and immediately decides he’ll do whatever it takes to save her, whether she’s human or not.

Together they face gun-totting mobsters, who aren’t always what they seem, suspicious cops, and of course the call of the wolf. With his family pushing him to make her his and a vendetta against the Mob boss himself, what’s a girl to do?

Well she can shoot them, bite them, and apparently she can send her new family (A pack of wolves) after them.

“She’s good at surviving, I’ll give her that.”- A quote from the book, that I couldn’t have said better myself. I’m an in love with her spirit, how many other girls can go around chasing bad guys, getting shot at, kidnapped, and turned into a wolf, while simultaneously falling in love? Not many. Not to mention she might be pregnant?

Jake is a true hero, he is protective, and while having the traditional wolf qualities, he also recognizes his mate’s need for independence, which makes them a complete power couple. They’re invincible, and I am in awe.

My favorite part is after she's lied to the detectives about how many murders she seen, or guys she's shot, they've left, and she turns to her friends, and says: "I didn't witness any OTHER shootings or killings, I swear it!" I laughed so hard!

Terry Spear has managed to once again write another fantastic novel that leaves me begging for more.

*I’m waiting for Tom’s story now* (Lol)

Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter that is determined to bring down a mob family. Because of her career choice she has made sure that she doesn’t have relationships with men for fear of them being killed because they are involved with her. All that changes when she meets Jake Silver. Alicia knows it is a very bad idea to get involved with him but she just can’t seem to help it.

Jake Silver took one look at Alicia and was determined to protect her. Luckily for her Jake is a lot more than he seems and knows how to protect himself and her from whatever threats might come their way. Jake’s instincts are telling him to protect Alicia but when they starting having very real passionate dreams together Jake knows that Alicia is more to him than he first realized and now he will show her how a wolf protects his mate.

With the passion that flairs between Alicia and Jake they are going to have to find a way to take down the bad guys and keep themselves safe while dealing with their attraction for each other. Alicia may not realize at first just how capably Jake is at taking care of them both but she is about to learn just what kind of man Jake truly is.

This is a wonderful continuation to a series that is sure to please reader that love werewolves. The premise of this series really makes it stand out in a genre that has a great many wonderful stories in it. The author has managed to write a series that stays fresh and will keep the reader interested and addicted to the series. This will bring back some characters that readers familiar with this series will recognize and get a chance to visit again. This is one worth reading.

Oh My! Terry Spear and her hot, sexy shifters strikes again! I was completely enthralled throughout this whole book! Yes, I said "enthralled" not just interested, or intrigued, but completely and hopelessly enthralled.

Jake Silver is one of the Silvertown Werewolf pack's sub-alphas. For those who aren't familiar with Terry Spear's series. . . Jake is a triplet. His "older" brother is pack Alpha, and he and his other brother are sub-alphas. Sort of like co-leaders to the Alpha. But don't worry ladies. . . Jake is all male, all wolf and all Alpha to the max.

Alicia is a stubborn, determined woman out to get the men who murdered her mother. It doesn't matter to her that they are the Mob, or Werewolves. . . she just wants to see justice done. Unfortunately, she tends to get in over her head. Thankfully there is a sexy werewolf nearby who can only think of protecting her. . . in and out of bed! Yummy!

Jake and Alicia's story is steamy, dangerous, intriguing and so much more. I loved this deviation from the "usual" wolf meets girl, wolf wants girl, wolf and girl mate. . . scenario. Jake wants Alicia but has a huge problem. She's human. Jake refuses to turn a human, though he can't get her out of his mind! Then. . . well, sorry, won't tell you more or that would spoil the story. I'll just say there are some dramatic portions of this story that actually had me wondering what REALLY happened. It definitely kept my interest and now I MUST read more! I need MORE of Terry Spears werewolves . . .

Thankfully I do have a few more books from this series to re-read, but now I'm off to find the rest of the series to continue my adventures. I HIGHLY recommend Terry Spear's books!

So Awesome! This is exactly what i love the most about long term Paranormal Romance series, getting to revisit groups of characters that I love and get to see previously met ones get their Happily Ever After.

I literary could not put Dreaming of the Wolf down for a second and ended up going through it all night long and getting no sleep at all, it was absolutely worth it though. To see Lelandi's family again and witnessing Jake getting to find his dream woman.

Jake is such a great Alpha male and don't get him wrong, he might not be leader of pack, but he is definitely an Alpha male through and through and Alicia is more than enough to drive him crazy with her antics and wild with passion. I loved their interaction and romance. Specially since she starts off as human and you can't help but wonder how the hell are they ever going to be together.

Dreaming of The Wolf is a fantastic installment in Terry's awesome werewolf series and probably the most action-packed pone to date and I LOVED every minute of it.

It had it all, from hot and steamy smex to suspense and tender moments galore. Exactly what a Paranormal Romance lover could have ever hoped for in her wildest dreams.

I recommend the Heart od The Wolf series to all PNR lovers out there, you won't be disappointed, specially if you have a weakness for Alpha males and strong female characters.

Dreaming of the Wolf by Terry Spear is a paranormal romance that is one of the books in her Werewolf series.

Alicia Greiston has become a bounty hunter to try and get justice for her mother, who was murdered by a mobster. She's tracking the mobster when she meets Jake Silver. Jake is a photographer, but he's also a werewolf who finds himself strangely attracted to Alicia. Soon, Jake becomes determined to help Alicia in her battle against the people who murdered her mother. But the mobsters have secrets of their own, and they are determined to make sure Alicia stays out of their way no matter what ...

I thought this sounded like an interesting read, but the various elements didn't quite gel for me. Alicia and Jake are both likable characters, and there's a lot of action that drives the story forward at a fast pace.

However, the attraction between Alicia and Jake is pretty much instantaneous. She meets him, and she trusts him very quickly. This isn't my favorite storyline, and I just didn't find it to be all that believable, given what a dangerous mission Alicia is on. Also, it seems like Alicia goes from one bad situation to the next, and it's only luck that gets her through them.

Also, there's a lot going on in this book, from Alicia and Jake's romance to the mobster element to Jake's family and what's going on in their and the pack's lives.

Overall, this one didn't work for me, but if you like books about werewolves, you might want to check it out.

First of all I just have to say that this is my first Terry Spears book. I know, it's a bit strange that I would start with book #8 in a series. I am happy to say that these books do NOT need to be read in order :) They are great stand alone books!
Dreaming of the Wolf was a fantastic read!! Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter who wants to make sure justice is served and her mothers murderers are put behind bars for good! While she realizes that she is dealing with members of the mob, she just doesn't realize just how far in over her head she is!
Jake Silver is a true alpha male werewolf! He has never been interested in finding himself tied down to a mate....until he spots Alicia. But she's a human and he realizes that the cards are stacked against him. Right away she intrigues him. He feels the need to know her business. He wants to protect her and keep her close.
The plot moved along at a great pace. I found myself up late at night and into the early morning hours devouring this book! The characters are interesting and easy to relate to. The romance is amazing and sensual. If you love werewolves, you are sure to love Dreaming of the Wolf! I will be reading more of Terry Spears books!! I highly recommend them!!

My rating: 5 stars!

Ok so I finished this book yesterday like around maybe 12 in the morning, This book was both exciting very much a mystery. Terry Spear did it again she brought the characters back and didn't forget them and that what I have always like about her. I did wish how ever that she put in so much morse action with amario and the bounty hunterAlice and the rest of the gang. But I really like how she brought Jake in the picture. I also loved how we got to see Darien ans his Mate again ans see how they been so I truly loved that. I wish for now Tom to be the next and find a mate. I did love Alicia a lot she did what she thought was right even thright see did it to safe Jake, I did wish Jake did so much more to find her, but he also couldn't leave his pack.
The ending wasn't all that great I did wish too at lest see how Darien's mat has her children's that would have been really cool to see but I hope that if we get to see Alicia's kids along with Darien's kids that would be really cool. I did have to skip the mating scenes but there wasn't much like the very book of Terry Spear, so if your under 18 then i do not recommend this book unless your parents is with you or ages reading it to you but all in all the book was alright the mystery. Terry very good at the mystery romance and adventure so that what I will always like

Enjoy God Bless

A FIERCE HUNTER...

Alicia Greiston is a no-nonsense bounty hunter determined to bring a ring of mobsters to justice. Her dogged pursuit of the crime family has forced her to avoid relationships— any man would only become a target for retribution. Luckily, Jake Silver is more than a man, and his instincts are telling him to stop at nothing to protect her.

AN ANIMAL PASSION...

However, the mob isn't entirely human either, and soon Alicia must flee for her life. When Alicia and Jake's passion begins to spill over into their dreams, Jake learns he will have to do more than defend her— he'll have to show his mate the way of the wolf.

I loved this book so much I had to read it again !!!

I have been waiting for Jake`s book since I first heard about him in the previous books. I was not disappointed at all, I thought Jake was a lot different to the other wolves in previous books and I liked that he seemed a lot calmer than previous characters. I also loved that Jake was willing to put himself in half way to protect someone who needed it.

I also really liked Alicia, I liked that she was a strong character and wanted to get justice for her mother's murder. I loved that even though the situation was tense, she was still able to have fun.

Jake and Alicia`s was really sweet. I liked that they both wanted to protect each other, but I was glad that when they seemed as though they could not go any further in the relationship, there was always something to bring them back together.

I liked the twists in this book that just seemed to make Jake and Alicia closer and cement their relationship. I even liked how you got to see into the bad guys lives. I was a little disappointed how the bad guy came to an end and how the ending just seemed to wrap up so quickly, but that didn't matter I just loved it.

A definite re read that I already can't wait to read again.

I got lucky to read Terry Spear's Dreaming of the Wolf early! Once again Terry exceeds expactions. Dreaming is part of a series centered around a town of werewolfs, Silver Town, Co. This one is Jake's story.

From the very begining Dreaming grabs your attention and does not let go till the very last page! The characters are diverse and interesting. The more you read the more you want to get to know these believable and realistic characters. Even if some of them do get furry now and again. Terry's way with works allows a reader to "experience" the mountains of Colorado, the fresh air and scents, making the landscape to be as much a character as the two and four legged ones.

There are romantic sceens in all of Terry's books. I would recommend keeping a cold drink or a hot guy close as hand. All her romantic seens are done with taste, but still leave plenty for ones imaginition to run wild with.

Wether read as a stand alone book or as part of her series, Dreaming of the Wolf is a good book to curl up with. I'll bet you have a hard time putting it down as I did, even when I reached the last page! Sigh, there is always the another book coming. I guess I can be patient.

"Dreaming of the Wolf" by Terry Spear. Book 8 of the Heart of the Wolf series. Book 3 in the Silver Town Wolf series (series within the Heart of the Wolf series).

Really loved this book! The story line was so good! Who doesn't love a good mobster story? And when you mix it with werewolves? AWESOME!

Jake is not looking for a mate. But when he sees a young woman covertly taking pictures of a car and following some mysterious men, he has to know what she's up to.

Alicia is a bounty hunter. She's on the trail of the mobsters that killed her mother and she's determined to bring them in. But when she's confronted by one of them, all of a sudden this guy comes to her rescue! Of all the nerve! She's doing well on her own, thank you very much. But Jake is one hot looking guy and she's impressed that he knew what she was doing. But she has to get rid of him for his own safety.

Loved the chemistry between Alicia and Jake. The plot of the book was just amazing. Really enjoyable to read. The descriptions of the scenery were so well written, you could picture exactly what the author wants you to see.

Can't wait to read the next one!
