Mage: the Ascension

Guide to the Traditions

Keeping the World's Magic Alive

We keep alive the old ways. We remember the days when magic flowed across the Earth and dreams strode in hosts with spirits. For every person who believes in a world beyond reason, we are the illumination, teacher and guardian. Although beset by unbelief and torn by dissent, we stand together as guides to the shining. Ascension to which humanity may strive. If you yearn for hope, if you seek to replace wretchedness with inspiration and you are ready to change the world, you can be one of us.

Nine Traditions, Infinite Possibilities

A definitive look at the Traditions as a whole - how the Council functions, who'll take charge with the dearth of Masters, what techniques determine the allocation of chantries and Wonders. Between the roles for up and coming Disciples and the problems facing the 21st century lie a host of stories waiting to be told.

White Wolf Entertainment AB, formerly White Wolf Publishing, was an American roleplaying game and book publisher. The company was founded in 1991 as a merger between Lion Rampant and White Wolf Magazine (est. 1986 in Rocky Face, GA; it later became "White Wolf Inphobia"), and was initially led by Mark Rein-Hagen of the former and Steve Wieck and Stewart Wieck of the latter. White Wolf Publishing, Inc. merged with CCP Games in 2006. White Wolf Publishing operated as an imprint of CCP hf, but ceased in-house production of any material, instead licensing their properties to other publishers. It was announced in October 2015 that White Wolf had been acquired from CCP by Paradox Interactive. In November 2018, after most of its staff were dismissed for making controversial statements, it was announced that White Wolf would no longer function as an entity separate from Paradox Interactive.

A nice compendium of the history and customs inside the 9 traditions, with very nice tales explaining the concepts of Paradox and Foci, for example. A comprehensive source of details to flesh out the WoD of mages.

Apart from a thorough internal history of the game world, there's little in this book that Mage fans will find useful.
