Ladies of Legend #1.1

Claiming the Legend

Rate this book
For Lilly Peach staying alive means keeping a low profile, blending in, not being noticed. When she fears having been found by those contracted to kill her, Lilly is sent to a new "safe house" in Legend, Tennessee.

The pristine old fashioned streets and genteel southern hospitality of the town's folks eventually lull Lilly into believing, maybe, just maybe, she can settle in and make a safe and quiet life for herself.

But when Legend's nationally famous high school football coach decides to make her his lady, Lilly is thrown into the spotlight as well, giving those seeking to find and destroy her, an-other chance to fulfill their contract.

What a wonderful phrase “She would get to this oasis in the belly of the south…” And this book is full of them. The writing is alive, and Ms. Eaves characters almost jump off the page.

Ms. Eaves captures her readers from her opening line and then drops in one mystery after another. Why? Who? How and what? They’re all there and captivate the reader immediately. I mean, what on earth happened that Lilly Peach had to run from those she loved?

Jim Hood had a dream and this year it was within his grasp and he’d let nothing get in its way. Or so he thought, until Lilly Peach arrived in Legend. When things come to a crunch he finds his choice is no choice at all.

Ms Eaves offers an action packed story form the first page to the last that is beautifully balanced with the emotional impact of every event. The pace set by the author makes this a difficult book to review, simply because the reader falls headlong into the story and is rooting for the characters all the way. I sometimes forgot I wasn't simply reading for pure enjoyment.

Her characters, main and secondary all have a part and play their part to the hilt. You can’t help but fall in love with all of them, even Mrs. Hertz. Well, perhaps there are few you can’t love, but their presence is equally pivotal and all encompassing… and real.

The story swings from highs to lows in a heartbeat, from joy to sorrow and back to hope, taking the reader every inch of the way.

Here is a story about love and loyalty, family and betrayal, all of which are skilfully woven together and makes Claiming the Legend a keeper you will want to read often.

This was a very fun and exciting short story to read.

Lilly is in hiding from her family and the hit man they sent out to kill her. She finds herself in a small town named "Legend" in Tennessee. There she attempts to start a new life and make new friends, but at the same time keeping a low profile. That becomes very hard for her though, when the towns popular and famous coach sets his eyes on her. They have an immediately draw to each other and can't help but want one another.

She knows she should keep her distance and not really draw any attention to herself, but with a hot coach like Jim, how can she? Lilly learns that living in a small town has it's down falls. There really isn't any secrets between the neighbors and the town knows all your business. Gossip is so much fun in Legend and quickly Lilly is put out there as Jim's lady. The attention Jim and Lilly receives also catches the eye of her enemies.

This was such a fun read. I wish I would have finished faster than I did, but of course life likes to get in the middle of my reading LOL. Claiming the Legend gives you a little bit of Romance, mystery and suspense. You will be glued to the pages and at the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens to Lilly. It also has a nice little twist in it that I promise you wont see coming at all.

This book is what every author wants to write: a teaser novella which will get you hooked and make you go buy the rest of the series two seconds after you finish it. Once you read the first page, you won't want to stop, either. This book has one of the best opening scenes I've read in quite awhile. The author paints this vivid picture of the town of Legend, and makes you want to move there, too. The way she describes everything is just incredible, and you don't feel like you're reading a boring description to get to the action. You want to be friends with the characters you meet, and this book definitely makes you want to know more.

Lilly is learning to come alive again instead of always running; while Jim, who loves his town and his team but never another woman, realizes he's falling in love with a woman he's just met. The sparks shoot across the room when they first lay eyes on each other, and their chemistry sizzles to the last page. Their emotion, motivations, struggles, personalities -- everything just leaps off the page and sucks you in. Be warned: just go ahead and buy the entire series at once -- 'cause you won't want to stop with this one.

Seriously? I really wanted to like this story but I hard a really hard time of it. The story overall was not bad but some of the bigger plot points could have been flushed out more.

The writing was bad, I just wished it had a better development. And the twist at the end.......was weird.

I found it really hard to get into this book. There were some good bits but I wasn't overly enthralled. I found the ending entirely rush and a little to easily solved.
