In general, Earthdawn 1e books are some of the best gaming literature that exists. I could literally teach a college level course on their themes and political discourse. However, this boxed set is kind of…meh. There is some interesting stuff here regarding class conflict, inherent problems with capitalistic systems, the concept of separate but equal, etc. Unfortunately, it’s all tied up in a very specific game world location that is unlikely to see much use. Further, this locale is destroyed in the current canon which makes it even less useful. I also question the need for it to be a boxed set - it would have been much better as just a single book.
