I was fortunate to get a hold of this and purchase it at Php10 during a sale in the Powerbooks Shangri-la Mall branch.
Rango is about a once-stranded chameleon in the Mojave Desert. He met Roadkill, who was seeking the magical Spirit of the West to find the precious supply of water in the town of Dirt. He meets Beans who became his escort to the town center.
The Old West town, headed by the Mayor (who holds the remaining water reserves), appointed him as the Sheriff after his accidental fame of beating the outlaw named Bad Bill.
Then everything else was an irony. He blew his first job by letting the thieves got a hold of the town's remaining water reserves. Did he get the chance to redeem himself? Did he become a hero after all this?
What I felt at the time reading this was inexplicably bored. The book lacks the voice of Johnny Depp and Isla Fisher and Alfredo Molina as the principal characters. It lacks the comedy due to the lack of descriptive words. After all, I believe this is better seen in a flick, than read in a book.

SOOO...I have to start by saying that I have NOT seen the movie Rango. I saw the book somewhere, cheap, and got it for school. Then on my first day back to school for the year, I had a bag full of books I had purchased over the summer but I forgot to grab something for me to read...erg. So I picked this up, not expecting much and I was so pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure if it is anything like the movie or not, but reading this makes me want to watch it, just to see. I am putting this on display at school so the kids will get excited!

I've watched the movie some weeks ago and I thought it was quite funny, so I bought this little book when it crossed my way :) Well, it's a cute book but sometimes I had the feeling it would just describe the movie (I mean, sure, it has to be the same story line...but the style seems to be from time to time like telling another person how it was sitting in the movie theater watching Rango) and in other passages I had difficulties not to mix up the people's names. So I wished the book would have introduced Dirt's citizens with a little more details, because as it has been some time since I watched the movie I couldn't recall all the faces and persons immediately. But I don't want to talk it bad. The story is cute, Beans is SO cute (freezing...) and Rango, well he's just clumsy and too sweet ;) There are some great characters like Roadkill and Sergeant Turley. And I loved Wounded Bird, I think he was my favorite :) Plus, there are some pictures of the movie and sketches included, which I found quite interesting.
All in all it's an easy and fun to read book but I would have liked it much better if there had been more details in everything (describing the environment, Dirt, the citizens...)

I thought Rango was a cute and funny movie/book. It's a book that kids all ages and young adults would enjoy. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes action, romance, comedy. There are a couple minor scenes that some younger kids may fine sad but nothing serious. There also is great lessons that Rango learns that can teach younger kids what and what not to do, and how to be a good friend and be honest. This book is a kind of book that you would read more than once.
About the book: the main character is Rango.(of course) The conflict is their toens water supply was stolen. They don't know how, where, who, or why. So they go on this long journey to find the water and they have to travel threw the hot, dry desert. Rango tries to run the small town "Dirt" and it doesn't really go as planned. They also have to stay away from the "Wild Ones" of the town, Bad Bill, The Red tailed Hawk, and Rattle Snake Jake. There are several Rango books that all are about the movie, but I recommend this one out of the other because it has pictures from the movie, which is fun to look at. I hope you enjoy this as much as i did. -Hannah Swartwout
