Rate this book
A Romantic Comedy based on the Talking Motion Picture in which Miss Gloria Swanson is the star of an original screen story written by Josephine Lovett, directed by Allen Dawn and acted by a cast of principles that includes Owen Moore, Lew Cody, Margaret Livingston and William Holden. Illustrated with Scenes from the United Artist Pictures which Joseph P. Kennedy Presents. What a Widow is one of the most famous lost movies. Made in 1930 at just the time when almost everybody was converting to "talkies," it has since become perhaps the most famous of the "lost" silent movies. What is remarkable is that What A Widow was shown not only all around the United States but also in foreign countries including Italy. Researchers are constantly trying to find a copy of this film but so far none have been able to do so. A little appreciated fact is that What A Widow was produced by Joseph P. Kennedy, father of future president John F. Kennedy. Ii is believed that Joseph P. Kennedy had all existent copies of the movie What A Widow recalled and destroyed, so that we could not see his picture in the movies.
