In a word where children are left to fend for themselves by desperate parents Skye and Chip end up living and working on the Tip. Fearful of being caught by the child Catchers they lead a bleak and brutal existence, except Skye refuses to be seen as a throwaway and wants more. A great concept spoiled by unconvincing picture of children and stilted dialogue.

This book was first read to me when I was in primary school. It took me years to find it but it was worth the wait as it is a brilliant read.. I only wish it was longer.

A wonderful story of two children sadly abandoned by their parents. Their struggles and friendships with others in similar situations is both sad and heartwarming.
