I read this in advance of a trip to Death Valley. it gave me a brain-full, from the searing heat to the withering heat to the dry sandstorm, uh, well heat, Sharpe places the reader in the Valley, surrounds him with bloodthirsty outlaws and a few glimpses of the female form.
Sure there are plot holes here and there, along with a damsel who's a little I too easy, but all in all, this was a fun, delightful Western.
