Tales from the Wild Side

A Walk on The Wild Side

Rate this book
Angus MacLeod, the owner of The Wild Side, London's raunchiest gay nightclub, has taken an interest in a master and his slave, who he spotted at the club on Christmas Eve. Inviting them round, Ralph Daley then tells the story of how he and his slave Barry got together. Ralph only intended to teach the lad a lesson after being insulted earlier in the day. Take him up to Wimbledon Common and punish him for being so impudent, whilst having some fun in the process over the bonnet of his Ferrari. That was the plan. But it led to so much more! Barry turned out to be a revelation. As well as possessing a killer body, he had roguish charm and obvious intelligence. And best of all - he actually got off on the dominance Ralph displayed and made it clear he wanted to experience more. He wanted to know about the life of a submissive. And that's what Ralph did over a fun packed weekend when he took Barry for... A Walk on The Wild Side. Please this book was previously released under the title ‘The Wild Side’. It has been modified and added to in order to integrate it chronologically into the ‘Tales from The Wild Side’ series, but strong similarities still exist with the original version.

Jack Brighton

Jack Brighton is a British author who specialises in gay erotica with a BDSM slant. His books are widely available on all major e-book and specialist erotica sites, published by his company – Firm Hand Books.
Jack was born and raised in the west of Scotland then moved to the south of England after graduating from university, living first in London before moving to the sanity of Brighton.
Having forsaken the stress of working in London’s finance sector to become a full time author, Jack now spends much of his time on the small Mediterranean island of Gozo where he lives with his partner.
Jack also writes under the pen names:

Fergie Boy
Jack’s early erotica works were produced for a web site called Gay Boy Books, where he wrote under the name Fergie Boy. Subsequently this material was brought under the Firm Hand Books banner and is now available through the same channels as Jack’s later work. The stories are highly erotic but not specifically BDSM in nature – although in certain books like ‘Preparing the Way’ and ‘Spanked at Last’ the evolution into Jack Brighton can be seen. Fans of Jack’s work might find it interesting to see where he has his literary roots by checking out some of the Fergie Boy books.
Jack no longer writes under the Fergie Boy name. However, he does write under...

Tom Farrell
Having published over twenty books by mid 2011, and created a strong niche in the gay BDSM market, Jack decided to expand his reach once again. Not wishing to dilute the Jack Brighton body of work and perhaps confuse his loyal readers, or re-invoke Fergie Boy, a new pen name was created to write under. This was Tom Farrell.
Under the banner 'Flaming Hot', Tom Farrell's books fall into two categories: 'Flaming Hot Gay Erotica' and 'Flaming Hot Gay BDSM'. The distinction is hopefully very clear. Both collections are softer than Jack Brighton's normal work - the 'Erotica' collection much more so. But it is still Jack Brighton - his ideas and his style. So if you like Jack's books then why not check some of Tom Farrell's work out.

This book has been re-edited and re-released as "Walk on the Wild Side" It's pure porn / erotic fantasy.

I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously. So check in the lube and condoms at the door.

The funny thing is that I was reading a review of Sylvia Day's best selling novel "Bared to You" today and saw these sorts of phrases highlighted by one reviewer:
"...his powerful body straining with the primal need to mate."
"The rhythmic slap of his heavy balls against the curve of my buttocks."
"Gideon battered my tender sex with that brutally thick column of rigid flesh..."
"...his breath leaving him in primitive grunts every time he hit the end of me."
"'I'm so deep in you...I can feel it against my stomach...feel my dick pounding into you.'"

and you know what that bodice ripper reminded me of?

The classic Jack Brighton undie ripper:
What I needed right then was a sexy young body and a mind that I could subjugate with ease. I wanted a few hours of raunchy fun to vent my bottled up fury – and Barry, with his youthful muscular physique, would be perfect for what I had in mind!....
I curled my hands under each side of his briefs, brushed his ass cheeks with the back of my fingers then took hold of the material in my fists. Then bang! In a single powerful motion that made it clear who was bossing the show, I ripped the briefs from his quivering body.....
Of course that was exactly what Barry wanted – for me to forsake further torture as I ploughed his stunning ass with my eager cock, fucking the boy senseless till I blew my balls and drenched his guts in a bucket-load of spunk, then slowly and considerately fucked him again, worshiping at the temple of his fabulous booty.....
Barry’s body glistened –moisture oozed from his pores in a vain attempt to cool his scorched skin. It was a body that trembled in shock from the beating, a flogging beyond its comprehension. But amidst the tremor another motion could be discerned, Barry’s ass was gyrating and pouting outwards – the horny young tinker was still gagging to get fucked.....
What's the difference?

Underlying all this way over the top porn is a plot and there is even some character development! Poor Ralph doesn't get everything his own way. And Barry walks out on him. Not because he hit him too hard, or humiliated him, or treated him like a slave. No, he wanted all that. It was because he fucked another man.

The Wild Side books are Jack's best. They're so way over the top, they're fun. Yet the characters are well rounded. Intentional pun. Strong. Testosterone driven macho males. It's amusing how they're all angling to be the one on Top.

If you don't like that sort of thing. Fair enough. Sometimes I'm in the mood and find them a refreshing change. As for the m/f equivalent? 284,000+ readers can't be wrong.Bared to You

I can't get past chapter 7 in this book. Up till this point in the book, all the BDSM that I LEAST like is written about. Humiliation. Skin-breaking whipping. Name calling. And to top it all off, the MC is hung like a horse *sigh*. I prefer a bit of romance with my flogging & this book just made me cringe. Added to that is the lack of safe-sex. Call me a prude but I found myself tutting in annoyance at their 'naughty' behaviour which effectively removes all the titillation from the reading experience.

Its hard to explain why it is that I am a fan of Jack Brighton's books, yet I am. In a market of erotica that is flooded with overly sweet HEAs,Jack's tales are a welcoming boom to just see some down right grunge in my fantasies. You can keep the marshmallows, thank you. For starters, I like his simplistic way of writing... not simpleminded but a rather meandering, lack-a-dazziness, as we follow in the life and a day of a Priding Dom who loves his kink as much as his evening dinner toddy. The styled voice is clean, even a contrite attitude about the norms of others; gives it good relish without all the pink fuzzy flash found too much of in other stories.

I actually read this out of order, having read the unchained Slave first. but I enjoyed that one so much I back tracked to the start. The Wild Side quickly pushes the boundaries for some readers when it comes to the degradation scene. Even though we'd been forewarned that Ralph Daley's intentions was to put Barry in his place and teach him a lesson, yet I admit I put the book down and allowed myself to be distracted for a while before coming back. I'm glad I came back to it though. It had a surpringing turn of events right after, one that I was not expecting out of the story and the ending... dare I say was adorable. Ralph the magnanomous prick met his match when he discovered Barry, the weekend get-a-way slave actually got under his macho skin and touched his heavily guarded soft side. But don't expect Ralph to come right out and tell you that.

So forget what the other reviews tell you, yes the out of bounds degradation play is there, but you're reading a Jack Brighten book and you dare act surprised? Get over it or skip one page, whatever you do don't put the book down or pass it up. He just might surprise you, by breaking his own rules.

Quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and that says a lot become I only love the greats! His stories are intense, never a dull moment and although there is not of lovey doveyness (I know that is not a word) the love comes through even if it takes to the final pages like this one did, but it in NO way disappointed on that. The slow and unsure build of the feelings of the characters in this were extraordinary. The reader knew (hoped) it was coming and when it hit the tear came to the eye like reading Nicolas Sparks. lol. Loved this and sooo glad I began reading this series and plan on sucking down all the books in it and hitting the rest of them as well. Well done!!

★★★☆☆

Ralph overheard young Barry make a crack about his age and he determined then and there to teach Barry a lesson and punish him. He found himself quite surprised by how much he enjoyed Barry and Barry enjoyed his teachings.

Typical Jack Brighton porny read and it seemed like he threw everything but the kitchen sink in for Barry to be exposed to.

Great cover, right?!
