Paris, everyone is together and forgets for one night about the looming threat of war between the races for a wedding. But no sooner are their vows exchanged than the newlyweds are called upon to serve the Court.
Stateside, an old photograph turns up with a member of the vampire's Court and several other men linked to an organization called Nightshade Holdings, LLC. More digging reveals how deep Nightshade's influence extends and just how deeply the Court itself is involved in the plot to start an interspecies war.
Love is found, old friends die and a greater enemy than any thought possible is revealed. It will take everything for the clan and the vampires to stop the war before it is too late.

Publisher has put this title on hold to be released Spring 2012
HK lives in the frozen hinterlands of the far North. The long, cold months provide ample opportunity to hunker down with her computer and create adventures far more enticing than scraping ice and getting frostbite.
Between books HK reads voraciously. Anything with a good plot and compelling characters are her broad parameters. One is as likely to catch her with a copy of Don Quixote as with the latest Kristen Ashley.
When not writing or wowing the corporate world by day, HK practices martial arts, plays with her dogs and matches wits with her teen. Next winter she intends to brush up on her Spanish and escape the cold for somewhere more tropical.
Paranormal is her favorite genre and science fiction because both address the possibilities we have not yet realized and the darker things we have. Her favorite premise: “what if?”
In the 3rd installment, Secrets, James and Claire are finally on equal footing. They’ve come full circle. Claire and James begin their work with Omar. It’s a difficult road. With their teamwork they actually start to see him changing for the better.
The police come sniffing around in regards to Stephen and Brian. It’s interesting to see how Claire and James end up helping the investigation. At first it seemed they were busted, that the police had figured out “what” they are, but it turned out well.
As Henry and Tonya struggle with their attraction and possibly breaking the laws of mixing races, Claire wants to play matchmaker. It’s pretty damn cute.
Anton finally gets his comeuppance. No one deserved it more, besides Gaston. I laughed when Anton got bested. He’s such a prick.
Claire is a bad-ass vampire. She embraces it and has amazing control. She goes up against a number of powerful vampires using her speed, intelligence and agility to kick their asses.
I’ve enjoyed their journey and growth. I’m sad it’s over but I would love to hear Miranda’s story or Henry and Tonya’s story.
I tore through this series. It’s action packed and fun. It’s a great YA series because the sex is not graphic and because the characters learn and grow. There are many life lessons to be learned from the trilogy. I recommend everyone read the series.
What a fabulous ending to an kickass trilogy! Loved the surprise wedding! Thought that was a nice touch. I have to say that the twists and turns kept me on edge and I wasn’t sure how this story was going to end. I AM NOT DOING SPOILERS!! I do have to say this. I am in LOVE with Lucas. Something sexy about an Elven vampire that can make a girl do anything. YUM! Henry is a fine specimen as well. This clan draws you in and forms a connection that lasts well beyond the last page. I highly recommend this series to any and all of you!
As Claire and James launch their relationship into a new chapter, with their family and friends blessing, duty interrupts the lengthy celebration. Claire remains relentless in proving her value to her new family, to the Court and to her husband. But her luck can’t last forever, and soon her destiny is in the hands of those she loves. So fearless, Claire finds herself face to face with danger again and again, each finding a way to make her stronger. With her family growing suspicious and the discovery of deception by their allies, Secrets certainly lives up to its title.
HK Savage continues to use some very creative ways to bring magic and the paranormal to this great story. The bond between Claire and James matures into a powerful tool that strengthens their love and presents them invaluable to their kind. Claire’s persistence makes me want to scream “What are you thinking?”, but then I find myself cheering her on and admiring her tenacity wishing I had an ounce of her bravery. I also really loved how the Author threw in real-life bits of playfulness of a happy couple. The wife playing matchmaker and the husband giving her ‘the look’. I think many readers, young and old, can relate.
Secrets concluded the trilogy on just the right note. You found rewarding amount of closure on many of the loved characters in the book, with only a few left to the imagination. It didn’t end with a ‘happily ever after’ façade, when you know the next few hundred years are bound to bring along some drama. But you close with a “what’s going to happen when…..?” feeling I just love….
This book seems to be final book of the Empth series. Wahhhhh. I love James, I mean Claire
I have really enjoyed my journey with Claire, James, the were lions, Henry, her parents & the court. It kept me on my toes.
Claire and James are loving married life and I loved reading about it. I felt the huge loss of Claires mortality but I’m not sure why. Perhaps it was the cooking and the talk of James making tea and the way his pantry was organized I missed. Ok I am going to say it - I missed Claire as a human, just a little…
I am not going to go on and on, but I will say I loved this book as much as I loved the first and second, and you should read it. Claire came into her own in this book and I admired her for it. There was a few moments there (at around 56% of the book) I found my jaw drop and I wanted to throw my Kindle at Claire. What was she thinking? She does do some silly things and this book is no exception.
Quite a few of the characters got some closure but it was an action packed ride. There seemed to never be a dull moment! Claire and James are going into my fave couples list. I do like a hot possessive vampire!
Kudos to you HK Savage – well done. An amazing series with wonderful characters worth rooting for. I will keep my eyes peeled for any more of your remarkable writing. Your vocabulary seems limitless.
I felt this series ended nicely but kept the possibility of more…and more is what I am hoping for :D

Excellent conclusion to the Empath Trilogy, and by far my favorite of them all. I really enjoyed the action scenes, and I must say, I enjoyed the fact that Claire finally started to have fun in this book. We saw much more personality from her. This is a great series, it is much more realistically portrayed than some vampire books (Twilight, anyone?). I highly recommend this to anyone looking to get into this type of book, which says a lot because I don't normally read vampires or young adult (sorry Twilight, you ruined me forever--thank you Emapth for being the sparkle of light in the black hole that tends to be young adult reading material).
It's a good series. Interesting enough that I wanted to read them all, but this one has a lot of jumbled and missing parts. There's incoherent paragraphs that seem to be incomplete sentences. Some parts seem to be missing entirely with a few words in the space that don't make sense. It leaves a feel of lost information which is annoying and distracting when trying to follow a story. Kindle version.
I devoured this book in record time because I couldn't put it down. The storytelling is impeccable, and I was completely engrossed in the lives of the characters. The plot twists were mind-blowing, and I found myself emotionally invested in their journeys. A remarkable read!
I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.
First let me say that I am so glad that Claire met Stephen and he knew about her ability right off and knew that she needed help and introduced her to James. With James Claire learned a lot. She not only learnt how to control her abilities she got to feel what it was like to have someone love you so much that they would give their life for each other. They would do anything and everything to save not only each other but the people that have become their family. Like the cats; Stephen, Troy, Tonya, Tara, as well as Henry a vampire and Heidi who is a human and one of Claire's best friends.
Claire is one tough chica and very bold as well as indenpendent. With all the danger and paranormal creatures that is always on the look out for her and wants her dead she still takes more chances than she should. She is going to live her life as close to normal as she possibly can. Claire has got herself into a lot of heavy major fights, some of them were her fault but not all. Of course she never asked nor wanted any of it but she had no choice. If she didn't sneak out away from James' sight once in awhile she might not have gotten herself in so many fights. But Claire is not going to just sit back and let someone else scare her.
Since Claire has become a vampire she has become stronger in so many different ways. Claire has kept a lot of her humanity when she was turned. She is learning and growing as a vampire a lot faster than most. I think that Claire's heart is what has helped her to become stronger faster. She still loves and cares for her human family and friends and will to what ever it takes to keep them alive. They are all fighting to keep the humans, vampires, cats, weres, witches and all species alive. They are trying to teach the world that everybody is the same and can live in the world together as one.
I am so very sad to see the Empath trilogy end. I want to know more about Stephen. What is his story? I know that Secrets is the last book but I am hoping that it is not. I think that Claire and James have a whole lot more to say. I also think that Troy, Heidi, Tonya and Henry all have their own stories to tell. And as I have read in other reviews being immortal means you live along time so therefore you have a lot of stories untold.
I think the Empath trilogy is the first books that I have read by H.K Savage but I don't think they will be the last. I know it won't if she decides to write more of Empath. I am definitiley going to check out more of her books. I highly recommend this trilogy to anyone who loves a good book. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have. I know I have already said it somewhere but I am so sad to see the end of the Empath trilogy. Thanks H.K. for this amazing trilogy.
Really, where to start?? This book took me a few days to really be able to finish it. I'd read a little and then have to leave it and come back. This sure doesn't feel like the end of a series. This whole book was confusing. This edition I read, not just published once, but twice. That is ridiculous. This was horrible. There were fragmented sentences throughout the book. As in, you would be reading and then BAM! A part of a sentence is just sitting there in the middle of nowhere or at the end of the paragraph. The editing of this book was beyond horrendous. The story was so hard to follow as it was.
Tara, we don't hear from her anymore from 44% In fact, Omar too. Especially Tara, since she is part of the 'pack'. Who knows, maybe the author was tired of writing about her. It is just sad, because I feel that the book had SO much potential, but it is sorely lacking. Someone needed to help pout the thoughts together and execute it better. And, yes we did tie up some loose ends, but there are still some questions left...
And the ending? Uh? I re-read the last part a couple of times... really that is how it is ended... This book needs to through a publisher that actually looks at the story. Because it seems to be they didn't even glance at it.
So, let's talk about the storyline. We find out who the bad guys are(one of them escapes and is still loose). We meet another member of Claire's family that has a ability. Some humans are brought into the 'know'. Claire goes through some 'changes'. We already addressed Tara....We have some battles.
Questions left open at the end: CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!!
1. The most evil vampire has escape, how are they going to 'deal' with him. Is there a way to destroy him? How? 2. Who will take the empty seat on the vampire council? 3. What happened to Tara and Omar? Are they off living by themselves and abandon their 'families'. 4. Is the cat legend true? Are the weres/vampires going to try to work together better? 5. Will Stephen ever find love? He deserves a HEA... 6. How will Claire end it with her family aka mom and dad? She can't stick around young for a long time? Will she fake her death? I am sure her aunt and new uncle would be able to help out?

So sad the series is over. Claire is such a badass. This is one series I really wish would continue.
Secrets is the final installment of the Empath trilogy.
Claire and her new family have faced many foes in the two previous books and this one is no different.
James and Claire have decided to get married and must decide if Claire will turn or if she will stay human. They have two major fears one that James will lose touch with his humanity if she turns and the other is that their bond will be broken. There has only been one bond like theirs and it was 300 years ago and didn't end well for the human.
Claire has faced many abuses since being introduced to the supernatural world of Shifters and Vampires but the Vampire Council is once again threatening all of their lives. Her and James along with their family must figure out who is on their side and who is trying to cause a war between humans and vamps. If they don't figure it out soon not only might they die but most of humanity also.
The Court with their excellent timing, took it upon themselves to call on James and Claire right after their big moment to run an “errand”. Let me tell you, Claire just gets more bad-ass with each book.
What I liked:
•The wedding – I absolutely loved the surprise wedding James planned. It was just such a sweet gesture I found myself melting
•The happy ending – It was satisfying and a great conclusion to the trilogy
•So much more that I am unable to explain without spoiling it!
What I did not like:
•The ending – Yes, I know I am contradicting myself here, just hear me out, kay? While the ending was satisfying I just felt like it could have been a bit more, you know?
This is without a doubt the most interesting book in the trilogy. Although there were highs and lows throughout the trilogy, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole reading experience and look forward to reading more of the author’s work.
I really enjoyed this series. It was a creative story line that kept me engaged throughout the 3 books. There were some parts where I had to skim read Claire's inner monologue. She tended to ramble about the same things over and over. I do have one complaint on the book, and really with the whole YA genre. I am tired of reading about insecure girls who just can't believe the amazing guy fell in love with them because they are so plain and ordinary blah blah blah. For once, I would like to read a book where the girl was like hell ya I am awesome why wouldn't he love me! Ok end of rant. These books were good, and Claire really did turn out to be a good female lead. I loved the cats as well. Tonya and Tara were bad ass! Oh and the men, could James, Lucas, and Troy please exist in real life, thanks!
The third instalment in the Empath series was nothing short of breath-taking. As the book progressed, my interest grew. Full of murder, espionage, political maneuvering, more “turning”, magick, brutality, romance, matchmaking, and more, it was gripping, in both its pace and content.
It was exciting to watch Claire mature and really grow into her own, not to mention go head-to-head with some scary characters. I was delighted to see the gloves off and the swords out. To see the laws and politics of the supernatural at work was gravy.
If you like fighting, there was plenty of that. What would a book about immortals and the supernatural world be like without th...See full review at http://ravenreviewer.tumblr.com
This third book in the trilogy reflected a lot of growth from the first book. The writer took her time more in developing relationships... although the easily ignited insecurities of James and Claire annoyed me. The overall story felt incomplete with Daemon still being out there and the undisclosed Master of the giant leopard... but the rest of the story lines were tied up well enough. By the end both James and Claire were fleshed out enough to connect the reader to them more completely. Overall I did not feel that these books were a waste of my time and I enjoyed the progress in the quality of writing from one book to the next. Their low price makes them a worry value.

I love the story line but almost had to give up on the series due to so many cut off sentences! mid sentence it would just stop be blank have a couple words on the next line that made no structural sense then be blank again. I hope there are more books to the series but hope the author and editors will take extra care before releasing the digital version. as others have said it probably not their fault but it should be their responsibility to make sure the final product is of good quality.
Secrets a title well played! As romance comes full circle a darkness blooms and threatens the very soul of this book. A war is about to implode and an evil like any other is leading the pack. As answers were sought questions replaced darkness invades in hopes that light of a sort can save the coming days. I found that this book opens it pages to the answers I needed as I pleaded for a triumph where one may not expect it to be found. This where I will leave you telling you all answers are found so give this series a chance I'm sure your thoughts will be turned around!
Like some have said, I thinnk that this is what Twilight should have been. A great ending to a great series, leaving an open to continue the story (I hope!). The ONE downside. The e-book had so many issues and made me so frustrated. I cannot tell you how many times a paragraph or sentence would come up as just jumbled words. That's careless. But I blame the publisher for that. The book itself is wonderful and I hope Savage continues to grow in her popularity.
I loved this book and the rest of the trilogy. What a great writer H K Savage is. I fell in love with the authors style of writing and truly felt like I was right there with the characters. The characters have a lot of depth, and the storyline is flowing and full. I read the entire series in only a few days. After I started it I wasn't able to put it down. Recommended for anyone who likes the supernatural romance stories.
I've enjoyed the books, great story line. Although I am a little exhausted. Non stop bad guys always popping up. The kindle edition from amazon has tons of mistakes. In some areas it seems like someone cut and paste sentences in random places, a little confusing. Oh and one more thing, Henry is supposed to have a coven of vampires but they are never used.
I liked the ending to this trilogy, but I can't help feeling like I might have missed something important. There was a lot of missing info. Not just a word here or there, but whole sentences and paragraphs. I am disappointed with the editing on this. Did anyone even read this first? So I give the story a 4(I think) and the book a 2, therefore overall a 3.
This story had a fabulous ending given the amount of action the characters has been put through. It was also written in such a way that HK Savage ever wanted to come back to it and spin off another series with other characters it could work. Loved this trilogy and can't wait to read more from this author over time.
This book by far was the best of the three. Although there were some editing issues with the kindle edition. It felt like some sentences were missing and out of order to the paragraphs. Other than that, I was able to follow pretty well.
Although the storyline in this, the third of the trilogy, was slower than the first two, the author does not disappoint her readers. We are still swept up in this fantasy love story that has the action and thrills to keep the pages turning.
