Too much of the book is about how your exam will be state specific so you should research the rules for the state you will be taking the exam in. I should have bought a test prep book that was specific to my state.

This guide felt "just ok" in my opinion. The book in general for the whole country which has it's pros and cons. A lot of the general ideas are the same and felt familiar from my classes. It was pretty clear though that whatever state the author was from, was not California though. A lot of things he focused on heavily like assessment rates and mortgage factors are things I'd never seen before because they aren't used in CA. It felt like constant review of something I'm very unlikely to see. There were also things like community property that are used in my state that were brushed past as "few states use this." As usual, it seems like CA tends to be the exception to the rule.

The practice problems were good but also sometimes seemed to focus on weird minor items. There are about 4-5 questions about radon which I'd never even heard about. They also seemed pretty easy except for a few that felt designed to be tricky (which seems more like what would actually be on the test).

I have another study guide to go through next so I'm interested in comparing how that one feels. If the Dummies book really is easier, it seems like a better place to start to remind myself of all my coursework and then jump into the harder book after laying down the foundation.
