Pros: good overview of different tech departments and what they do for the business, one of the most technical books I've read on the subject (and I've read whatever I can find!). Cons: very much focused on Microsoft technology in it's examples, and considering the diversity in most company's stacks, you have to be able to relate each descriptor to understand.

I just started reading this book to help me improve on the job of a tech recruiter. The structure looks organized and the content looks up to date (with cloud and big data chapters). Will write more thoughts after I go farther down.

An old Lithuanian proverb says: "Ką išmoksi, ant pečių nenešiosi".
According to ChatGPT, it translates to "What you learn, you will not carry on your shoulders" in English.
The proverb means that knowledge or skills acquired cannot be taken away from you and will not burden you physically. It implies that education and learning are valuable and can help one overcome difficulties in life without carrying a heavy load.

'Technology Made Simple for the Technical Recruiter' is one of these things that no one can take away from me and it will hopefully make my recruitment work slightly easier by allowing me not to be 'heavy lifting' when hiring technical experts.

It's a book I can recommend to agency and in-house recruiters and other curious human beings interested in learning about technical roles and technology in a simple way.

I read this book because it was recommended to me by my director. I have been a healthcare recruiter for 3 years and had transitioned into the tech field. This is not a fun read. This is a textbook. It’s not leisurely at all. I learned a lot about various terminologies and skill sets and I think it has improved the quality of my work. I’m glad I read this but the content to be written in a more engaging manner.
