A hot new boyfriend. Prom just round the corner. And not a demon in sight ...Things have never been better for Eve Evergold, Deepdene's kick-ass witch. But when things seem too good to be true, they usually are. An evil far greater than Eve has ever known is at work in Deepdene - and it's hell-bent on turning her closest friends against her. This time, it looks like Eve is going to have to face her demons alone...
Amy Meredith now lives in California, though she has lived and worked in New York and the Hamptons where our heroes, Eve, Luke and Jess, come from. She has always had a fascination with the supernatural and wishes she had a super power like Eve's - although in real life she says she would definitely prefer shopping to demon-fighting!
At the beginning of Betrayal Eve is helping Jess prepare for her date to the prom with Seth. Things haven't been this peaceful since before Eve found out she was the Deepdene Witch. But when animals are turning up all over town dead in ritualistic killings Eve, Jess and Luke know there is a new demon in town...
This series definitely goes downhill after the second book. I didn't particularly like that Eve was acting oddly, it was put in to give the reader doubt about our main character but it wasn't executed well. Jess and Eve's relationship was okay, Jess doubted her best friend but they patched things up so I liked they had faith in one another even if the odds were stacking against them. This seems to be the last book, I wanted to know more about the order who fight against demons but we aren't ever given information about them. They just seemed to be there to throw in information or help Eve out which seemed like bad writing to me. The ending just like the last book was underwhelming.
I liked this book but seriously it wasn't the best in the series that would still have to be 2! I got a little angry and eve most of the time because i just thought she was being shallow when she was saying all of that stuff about it was all jesse's fault we got in a fight and so on. I mean i know shes part demon but just don't go crazy about it and torch the woods down. I can't really say much about this book but it was a good read but not the best
This one was just as capturing as the other ones. I mean seriously when Eve ran away from the place i was feeling her pain . It was great ignoring the fact that Luke got away so easily for not trusting Eve at all . He finally realised he was being tricked which was after he got kidnapped. I mean seriously dude. Honestly if i was Eve i would make the guy pay for it no matter how handsome he is. At the same time i liked how Jess supported Eve. I was like woohoo you go Jess.
After hating this series to begin with, I have come to really like it now and had been looking forward to the newest instalment from Amy Meredith.
Throughout all of this series so far, there is a lot of action and it doesn’t stop with Betrayal. I love how kick ass the characters are, even the ones who don’t have superpowers. Jess is learning Kung-Fu to be of some kind of help and Luke is in possession of an almighty sword which I am quite jealous of. I love that although Eve is the main character with all the powers, the other characters are given enough to do to keep them interesting and exciting. I think I actually enjoy the scenes where Jess is trying to kick some major demon ass with her awesome kicks rather than Eve being able to zap them to death. These kinds of things really give the other characters something extra and something to make readers like them.
What really bugged me about this book was the fact that Jess and Luke were so quick to judge and not believe Eve. Eve and Jess have been best friends for a hell of a long time and I really didn’t think that Jess would be the kind of person to trust someone she doesn’t even really like over her best friend. This part of the book really upset me because the characters who have been getting better and better through each book suddenly went massively downhill. It was kind of like the author just forgot anything that was previously written about them and reinvented them. I understand that this was to go along with the plot but I think it could have been done better, without compromising the characters I have grown to love.
Because of this, I ended up feeling quite sorry for Eve. She was pretty much all alone trying to figure out what the hell was going on and without her friends, who are normally always there to support and help her, that must have been tough. Even though Eve is still quite shallow, not quite as shallow as in the first book, I cant help but love her. I can see past all of the things that bug me about her in order to see what is really so good about her character. She obviously cares a lot about the people around her and what is happening and truly wants to do something good with her powers and those things definitely redeem the shallowness.
This is a series that seems to be quite hit and miss. I didn’t like the first book very much at all but really enjoyed books 2 and 3. Now, book 4 has left me with mixed feelings. That being said, this is still a quick, entertaining read and I will still be reading others in this series and probably anything else by Amy Meredith.
Betrayal is the fourth book in Amy Meredith's A Dark Touch series: books one to three were Shadows, The Hunt, and Fever. Of the four, Betrayal was my favourite. It took a darker turn than the previous books that I think reflected the growth of the main characters and their relationships really well.
Eve, Luke, and Jess are faced with more than demons in Betrayal; as the title suggests they also face turmoil in their friendship for the first time, as well as the realisation that the past actions of the original Deepdene Witch can affect their lives.
**SPOILERS!** The ending didn't seem strong enough to be a series finale, it felt as if it was leading on to another book. In Betrayal we begin to learn more about The Order, but there stills seems much left to be discovered. I'm also hoping that Jess gets a better boyfriend as her current relationship seems somewhat unbelievable and falls far short of the carefully crafted Luke and Eve duo. **END OF SPOILERS!**
Recommendation: Betrayal is the best book in the A Dark Touch series, in my opinion. The darkness and sense of disloyalty felt by all the characters added a new depth to the perfect-except-for-the-occasional-demon teenage life that they seemed to have in the previous three books. A must read for Deepdene fans!
Rating: 4/5

Eve’s life seems to have settled in Deepdene, with a new relationship and Jess’ prom coming up: it’s never been better. But, Eve has discovered, when life seems too good to be true, it probably is. When a new demon shows up, it’s far more powerful than Eve has seen before. But this time, Eve seems like she might have to take on the demon alone…
The final book in the Dark Touch series by Amy Meredith was, well, a bit of a let down compared to book 2, The Hunt and book 3, Fever. I mean, it was about the same, and there was actually a lot less name-dropping than the last 3, which was nice.
The characters were really themselves in this book I think, although I’m surprised that Eve forgave Luke so easily for the thing (I’m trying not to give away spoilers!). I quite enjoyed Eve in this one, though, she seemed a lot more realistic than the last three. I guess it really shows how Meredith has grown as an author.
The plot was rather interesting, and I didn’t actually guess “whodunit” until the end which was pleasant, mainly because I wasn’t 100% awake. The first new location that wasn’t Deepdene was used, and I quite liked the change of setting.
Overall, then, I quite liked this book and it was an entertaining 2, 3 hours of my morning.
This book was so amazingly frustrating. I mean I loved it, but at the same time it made me so mad. I couldn't help but be mad at Jess and Luke, and I think that that was one of the best parts of the book. Meredith's ability to make me- the reader- have immense feelings of anger and betrayal towards Jess and Luke, just as Eve was feeling, left me in awe. I felt like I had been betrayed by my best friends. I think that that is what makes an amazing book, one in which you class yourself as one of the characters. The plot had me pulling chunks of my hair out, in anger, frustration and annoyance. I just wanted to know what was going to happen, and why Jess and Luke were acting like they did. I love Eve even more as a character now, and can say that she has to be one of my favorite bad-ass heroines, and heroes. The ending left me wanting a little more, but at the same time I'm glad that the ending was as perfect as it was, for a while there I was seriously worried. I can already feel myself slipping into that post-book depression where you don't want to read anything else because your still so caught up in the world of the book you were reading. I'm not ready to say good-bye to Deepdene yet...
As with the previous three books this one was short and to the point. The story was equally as absorbing as the previous three books however this time it felt a little shallow. I didn't really feel the characters of Jess and Luke reacted as I would have anticipated, the bond between them and Eve seemed to be too easily fractured by a little doubt. Even I knew Eve would never have done what she was accused of by Jess it just went totally against her nature she may have killed tonnes of demons but a crime against fashion I think not! I guess this may have been because the book was short but if you enjoyed the previous books then you will enjoy this one.
This was a good book ,but it wasn't the best. I was just enoyed that jess didn't believe her own friend and then when I found out it was allana the hole time I was not expecting that. At all. I do think it could have been a bit better and some if the writing just didn't make any sense like when jess just showed up in manhattan and says she was wrong and she forgave her, well it just seemed a bit sudden and unrelistic!

this is amazing i was clutching the book page by page. I wanted her scream out so much because even book made beilve bit that she was turning demon . I didnt even excempt what really was happening .. it great book. love the cover :) i though she been better at reacting with demon truth she seem be fine with it ...
Luke and Eve are now an item but will they stay that way? Eve's demon blood seems to be on the rise and she may be spiralling out of control. Jess and Eve's perfect friendship is taking some hard knocks. Is this the end or is there something sinister at large at Deepdene?
I found this book a bit contrived with Eve, Jess and Luke acting out of character. Not the best in the series.
i gave it three stars as i didnt think it was as good as the rest. maybe i feel the storyline is getting a bit too stretched? it was a good read and i enjoyed it, and it didn't take me very long. i do recommend it as a novel that you want to read to pass the time, but not as good the previous? :-)
I really liked this book. It was alright but the whole series as a whole, I'd give it a 3/5. The series and all the books are lovely and an absolute page turner. But at times, Eve can get really annoying and so ugh. But oh well! It still is a great book!
