Lesson #2

A Lesson in Forgiveness

Rate this book
Ginny figured being a 21st century woman, stuck in the past, playing other people's lives would be fun. It turns out, it's just work.

Her new persona, Bethany, is a society daughter whose only purpose is to make an excellent marriage, while playing by a long list of rules. When her parents bring her to a house party so she can meet eligible bachelors, Bethany has her hands full.
Will she choose the staunch earl, who has no wish to marry yet? Or will it be the future duke who has a reputation with the ladies? Or the kind, country doctor instead?

Even Ginny can't figure out who she is supposed to “fall in love with.” All she knows is that she needs to marry someone if she ever hopes to return to own body, in her own time.

I started writing fiction at the age of 12 for my friends. Of course, in those days, I was the heroine, saving dashing rock stars from their ruin. Now, somewhat older, hopefully wiser, I decided to finally put down my ideas on paper and write about a heroine not unlike myself (personality wise, certainly not realistically).

After finding my own soulmate (which is just another word for the only man willing to live with me), and having two beautiful children, I'm changing my stay-at-home mom status to part-time author. Which isn't to say that my days are not still filled with laundry and dishes, but I've also added writing.

I have many plans for my heroine, Ginny. She will meet matchmakers, pirates, cowboys and maybe a vampire or two. If I've read it in a romance novel, you can bet, Ginny will live it in an upcoming novel.

Thank you for all the support from my family and friends. Without my overly encouraging husband, none of these books would have been written. And I really appreciate my fellow neighborhood mommies. They make the best editors in the world.

I enjoyed the first in this series, so I was looking forward to reading this. Instead I found myself loving it one moment and being very frustrated by it the next.
Ginny has moved on from medeival Scotland and found herself at the centre of another romantic story. This time she is Bethany, a girl who must make an advantageous marriage in regency England. She seems to have two choices. Which man is the right one for the girl whose life she is living? The one she chooses will betray her and forgiveness is something that she will have to work hard to achieve. All the while, she must try to remember that this is someone else's life and she is only inhabiting it for a while.
Once again, the characters are great. Ginny continues to be a feisty and appealing heroine and Colin and Miles were worthy male leads. The minor characters were also well-written. The story itself, follows certain romantic rules, as is required by this genre, but the journey to get to the inevitable ending has some twists and turns and unexpected moments.

So, what caused the frustration? Well, unfortunately it was the writing. This book is desperately in need of an editor. The second half in particular lost pace because the author suddenly started using flashbacks. Flashbacks can be effective but these took you back to mundane and dull incidents that bore absolutely no relevance to the plot. A shame because they came at what should have been the climax of the book. In addition, like the first book, there was some incorrect use of English and some misuse of vocabulary here and there plus more and more Americanisms slipping through. Fine for Ginny as she is American, not appropriate for the English characters. Once again, none of them seemed to notice that the woman in front of them was speaking as a modern American.

All in all, I loved the story and the characters, but I wasn't very impressed with some of the writing- this lead me to a 3 star rating. There were also a lot of errors in the writing. Unfortunately, I have contacted the author and she made it clear that she has no wish to correct the errors- doesn't inspire confidence.

It started as a four star for me... until the lesson part. Eventhough I understand bethany's rationale, but I hate hate hate colin for
1- adamantly wanting to marry bethany, when she'd already given him the way out.
2- stupidly humiliating his wife by insisting to consumate the marriage.
3- the love of god! Ran away from his marriage for more than a freakin year to get laid with whores around the world??? Seriously, that deserved forgiveness? Not in my book!

I was so freaking mad at colin! Bethany should have gotten laid too! And with the sexy miles at that!

I couldn't forgive him. Nope, sorry May. Connors. This is one hella dissapointing romance fantacy.

I love this series, and this second book is even better than the first. Jennifer Connors really knows how to tug at the heart with anger, betrayal, and sorrow. Then flips it upside down on you with an unbelievable, but admiring amount of compassion and forgiveness. A truly good writer can take their readers to both the highest high and lowest low, and this is what Ms. Connors does. Just when you believe the happily ever after has finally come, everything changes and that HEA eludes the heroine and reader once more. I have to move on to see if she can finally capture it in the next book. It is still a journey unfinished.

I'm not too big on love triangles and cheating. Unfortunately, this is what I got in this book. It was hard to click with it, but the read was still pleasant.

Major spoilers sorry >>>>

You’re telling me he left her for a whole YEAR, lied, acted like a child, cheated on her HEAPS, was so impersonal on their wedding night, hated her personality after they got married when that’s why he married her in the first place and she forgave him?? 😤🤬

The first half of the book had be HOOKED I loved every second of it. Then they got married and everything goes downhill. I was addicted to reading it because I was like surely SURELY!!! She gets some revenge and he grovels so hard and it’s all HEA

He cheats on her MANY TIMES when he leaves her for a YEAR. He gives them gifts and dinners and all he gave Bethany was all of his responsibilities with zero warning. To say that I was fuming is an understatement. I’ve never read a character that made me so angry. I despise cheating when it’s between the two MCs I nearly put the book down but I felt too invested.

I wish she slept with someone else. I wish she ended up with Miles or a new person altogether. Colin doesn’t deserve her at all and I’m absolutely mad that they ended up together.

I don’t think adding Sarah’s love story was necessary tbh I needed more of Colin and Bethany rather than them. I don’t feel satisfied at all tbh. The ending was rushed and felt so unfinished. I hadn’t move on or forgiven him at all - I needed MORE from him 😭😭
I can’t read this book again without being absolutely mad

I liked this one. I really felt the emotion from the characters. I was really confused about who was the hero in this book, and didn't like him at all in the beginning. In the end, even after all the horrible things he did, I really liked him. I wouldn't call him a hero though. I felt he was sincere, and realized the mistakes he made and wanted to do everything he could to make it right. I thought the way Ginny solved the problem in this one was much more realistic than in the first book. I wish she would have slept with Miles though. He was just too yummy to pass up. Oh well. She would have felt guilty, and that wouldn't have made for a good ending. I like that Ginny is getting attached to these men, but not falling in love with them, so when she moves on it's not heartbreaking each time. It seems like she feels the emotion when she is in the other persons body, but when she moves on, there is only a little sadness. I think Ginny is going through all these situations so she will be wiser when she finally meets "the one". This one also didn't make me feel like there was part of the story missing in the end. In my mind, Ginny was almost occupying Bethany's body and mind in unison with Bethany, so when she leaves, Bethany will know what is going on in her own life, and will have learned some things too. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

Whoah, I just finished this in one setting, and I love every minute on it. This is the second part of Ginny series, where she is whisk away on 1804, England, as one of the guest of a hen party to snag a husband.

I'm also confused as to who will be her partner, but when she finds him, and everything falls down because of the guy's actions towards her, I'm become so mad for Ginny. Anyway, maybe this is the reason why the title is how to learn to forgive and just move on if someone does things to you. I like Ginny's bravery for that.

But when the book end the way it is, I just said "SH*T!, WHY, WHY!!!!!" (wailing included). I read the first book on 2010, and now I read this continuation. I become lonely when Ginny herself can't fall in love, only her characters. She felt infatuation to both Ian (on Lesson of Passion), and this guy, and does her duties as a heroine to go back home. If I'm her, I really can't take the pressure on living someone else's life. Anyway, this is an enjoyable and lovable book who likes this genre. Gonna read now the novella, and later the third book.

I read this book about a year ago and I still remember it. I remember how much i was pissed off and did not like the hero. He was likable but frankly an ass in the end. He acted like such a spoiled child. Honestly I like this series but I don't act like Ginny does and therefore I don't always agree with her reasoning. I must admit thought that I learned this lesson from this book. It is important to forgive not for the other person but for yourself. You cannot move on in life unless you learn to forgive. So while I may not love the story I must admit I learned the lesson and it has been applicable to my own life

Continuation of first book in trilogy. This time the heroine falls into England in 1802. She again is half the character from a romance book she read, and half 20th century woman. I think the plot was much better this time. More interesting and not as easy to predict. The male character was much more interesting. I can't wait to read the third book in this trilogy. We have had amazing passion in the first, and this one she learns the true beauty of really forgiving someone. What is next and how will the author wrap up this set?

An emotional read that made me grab my tissues. Ginny's new world is 18th Century England and (big surprise) she needs to find a husband. She acts a bit rashly when she hears of a bet involving her, and she takes responsibility for the consequences. Unfortunately, her "mega-hunk" refuses to take any responsibility for his actions and acts cruelly. She has to pick up the pieces of a broken life and then after she had cleaned up a huge mess, husband re-engages with her as if he did nothing wrong. As the title implies, she must learn to forgive him to move on.

I enjoyed this book. I read the first in the serif because it was free and now I am hooked. I have to find out where Ginny will end up next.

I did have a hard time forgiving Colin, but I knew she was going to have a lesson in forgiveness because of the title name. However, since I am a woman that can't imagine forgiving that level of indiscretion, it was hard to read. However, it is one of my favorite series.

Well.... Jenny hops again! And this time I was all over this! It was kind of a friends to lovers, and then a "ruined" girl. But the thing is that she is married to the guy that she wanted and he turns out to be a douche to her.... and then the guy that just wanted to nail her before ends up falling for her..... well the husband has a lot to grovel for! And Jenny has to learn to forgive before she can move on to the next!

I enjoyed reading this. Very quick read.
It tells of Ginny who is transported from the 21st century into the body of a romance novel heroine in 1803.
I found the grammar to be lacking in a few places but overall an entertaining read.
I don't normally read historical romance, maybe my tastes are changing as I'm getting older lol.

This second book in the Lesson series disappointed me a little, mainly because the first one was so good. The male character didn't appeal to me much, but I still had a good time reading this story. Ready to start the next book now.

This is book 2 or 9. Ginny does it again. This time she takes the place of an English heroine with Colin as her reluctant husband. Another great story and lesson!
