I've had three concussions over the past five years, the last one quite disabling, and of all the books out there on concussion recovery, this is the most clear, informative and accurate. It describes my experience much better than even my neurologist, who frequently says "I'm not sure" when I'm asking why I'm having a particular problem, and if or when it might resolve. It is enormously reassuring and validating to what has seemed extremely confusing and scary.
I requested that my town library buy this book to help others. It has the perfect balance between scientific and practical, caution and reassurance. The concept of "complete processing" was especially useful, where your intelligence can be locked in there but your processing speed is slowed so you will often think "what the heck did they say? what's going on?" and feel stupid, but if you ask people to repeat/slow down until everything comes together, you'll help your brain heal.
The book contains cognitive exercises that help a great deal with the recovery process as well. It's also helped my husband understand what I can't describe. I've very grateful this author wrote this book.
