The Perhapanauts

The Perhapanauts: First Blood

Rate this book
There are places in this world where the fabric of reality has worn thin, where strange and terrible creatures have crossed over to lurk in the shadows and the night. There is an organization dedicated to finding these creatures and sending them back from whence they came, sealing the rift behind them and maintaining the integrity of those borders. The organization is called BEDLAM. Its agents are... The Perhapanauts! That they are unique and mysterious creatures themselves doesn't make things any easier. A sasquatch, a ghost, a chupacabra and a telepath head up this team of unlikely protectors and where their adventures might take them is anybody's guess.

This should be a cartoon series. I liked it! Probably closer to a 4 star rating, but I'm feeling generous.

Yet another of the many stories about a secret organisation managing the world's weirdness; might write a study of them all and call it 'The Quango with a Thousand Faces'. This iteration is basically a brighter and poppier Hellboy, but like that book (albeit in a very different style) it does at least have appealing art.

I couldn't tell if the narrative was deliberately disjointed or if it was a mistake. If it was deliberate it was unsuccessful; if not deliberate then just not well done.

A bit too similar to Hellboy and Proof for my tastes.

I liked this a lot, the characters are good, some mysterious, the others silly. Its a little like a lighter BPRD, which I really like too.
